[R&F] Zulu First Look

This is Zululand Kingdom Flag (I know same as Lithuanian :) I can see green, so why is it a bad choice?

I never heard of this flag before, so don't fault me for hating the green for Zulu. :p

How many civs are there now? I don't know . . . seems to me that at some point, you're inevitably going to get some color combinations that are similar to each other and/or ugly.

He doesn't seem very intimidating, I agree. Maybe his angry/displeased stance will give us more of his previous vibe.

Though it might be that we saw his denouncing/war animation and we haven't seen Shaka or Genghis's yet.

Yes but if we were to look at his current animations as a kind of indication, then we'll have more of a teddy bear than a warlord. It wouldn't be wise to make him seem too agressive, as players might identify the animations as being stereotypical or even racist; but Shaka smiling like your best-friend seems stupid to me and it feels like the devs were trying too hard to make a pointless change in the leader's appearance {from intimidating=>friendly}

So basically, if the AI ever does achieve any degree of competency at combat, we'll have a bunch of civ's that should roll other civ's utterly thanks to their unilateral focus on combat bonuses.

Good. Should create emergencies and then the fun will ensue. Also will be harder to defend against them and make the game more challenging.

So, bring that degree of competency in combat on!

If it makes you feel better I thought the secondary color was yellow, so it made more since with this flag.
Then it was pointed out that it was just light green and I just had to look closer.

In fact, there don't seem to be any other black people who play Civ. I'm sure there must be but I've not come across any.
Where the black civ players at?! Holler :p

Hello :)

Does it really matter how friendly he looks/ sounds?

You’re basically bound to make him happy once you reach the industrial era.

I really like this civs mechanics. I wasn’t looking forward to another pure warmonger but I do really like Shaka. This might be my first play through civ, either Zulu or Cree.

By the way. I am just wondering what warmonger Civ they will add in a second expansion. They have already used all in this expansion.
Great balance Firaxis

Nothing wrong with that. Some all warmonger games will ensue. :D

You have to reach the industrial era first :P

For those that think it is strange that Shaka looks similar to Black Americans, Zulus are ethnically Bantu people. Many, if not most Black Americans, have Bantu in their ancestry, even if Black Americans are mixed with other things and being around 80-85% African at the most.

Besides, it's very obvious they copied the statue and other art about Shaka. It's not like paint, pencils, and paper did not exist back then.

We lack properly attired African civs. Remember Selassie's suit in Civ V? Those were the days...
(Basically, just an excuse to whine about Ethiopia not being added)

I don't really get hating colors. How many civs have had the same colors in every iteration?

I just don't think Green fits the Zulu. For Portugal or even the Ottomans, yes. But not the Zulus....

Did anyone at Firaxis play test the Zulu? Because they are nearly as broken as launch Scythia. How does AI Shaka not roll over AI anyone else?
