Zulu Succession Game

game received

played and sent to mr bond

All is well...so far.

-Shaka surveys the Zulu nation and is pleased. The seeds of greatness are sprouting.Allready, our influence has spread to the home of the crusaders.Soon we shall have mastered all of Africa and will move to settle in the holy lands of the Middle East

The would be French invaders wisely heed Shaka’s warning and flee from our soil.Just who do they think they are dealing with?
Our nation is skilled in the way of the warrior. It is our way.We shall not tolerate those who wish to replace our great Gods with their single God.

Shaka was not without worry though. His Cheifdom was vast and several rival families were rumored to be plotting coup attempts. His power had to be centralized. This would require a departure from the Zulu way of leadership.Shaka wisely recognized this and began formulating a plan for a new leadership style which would be true to the Zulu tradition.

Mpondo was settled where The Nile meets The Mediterranean. Our gateway to the mother sea.Ngome was settled in the far north.Swazi on the west coast.Tugela on the east coast had promise of a wonderous future.

We acheived a method of recording the history of our great nation. It will be known as Writing. All are to learn it.

Small villages cower before our warriors.Ransoms were paid and conscripts were taken.(100 gold and 3 legions)
1 such village decided to meet our warriors on the battlefeild rather than seek appeasement and were soundly defeated. All others should long remember the example set.

The French continue to be led wisely? paying 75 tribute to Shaka. Our legions were extorting the citizens of Paris. What was to come was a demonstration of Zulu tactics. The encirclement of Paris and the “horns of the bull” were excuted in true Zulu stlye.Paris was burned and all citizens killed. No mercy was shown as the Zulus view it as weakness.
..and then the “Great Seige of Orleans” began as Shaka’s forces licked their wounds and reorganized for the final offensive. The city fought bravely but fell in the end. While looting the city,Literacy was gained to benefit the nation.Peace followed but would be shortlived?....allready,the "bull" was forming near Lyons....
Extortion of the Egyptians brought 150 gold.

Returning war parties reported a new people calling themselves Carthaginians had been encountered. They had offered 100 gold in tribute and were spared. For the time....

Having dispensed with his rivals,Shaka declared he was King of all Zulus.A new era was upon the nation.

But what is this? a new leader rises from humble beginnings! Some say he is not experienced enough to rule such a mighty empire, but they shall be driven out by sharp pointy things and other unpleasant objects... Let the rule of gludbi_mr_pbond, the new power behind the throne of the Great Shaka, guide us to even greater glory!

Well my guess is this is going to affect the players in this game. I started the game in 2.42 but that doesn't mean we all have that, so unless people want me to e-mail them the 13mb patch (which I believe only aol will let me do to other aol customers, not sure what the @Home file size limit is). Some may not get to play Sorry about that.
Well I finally got the fricken MGE patch up. If anyone needs it, click the link below. It's not small and a four-parter so have fun.

Well guys, I couldn't do it. My version won't load the game. I'm passing it on to Pedro. Good luck, and may Shaka be with you!

That bites.
for the record:it was allready MGE when I got it.

Did I screw something up by playing MGE? That's the only version I have. My humblest apologies if I have caused this problem, especially to Mr. Bond. Hope you can maybe download the MGE patch and join us. We'd love to have you back on the team.

No problem. I'll play the next one. Btw, at the risk of sounding remarkably stupid, what's a 'patch'? (I'm computer-'special'...)

They replace files in exe's, usually to "fix" a bug.You d/l it.Run it and it updates your game/program with the new fix.
Apparently that MGE patch changes and/or adds the files needed for Civ2 to become MGE.

What is the status of this game?

are we proceeding?
do we need to restart?

looks like it was last sent to Pedro

I will join you in this sucession game. My e-mail is das1@matav.net.il

SORRY! I fell asleep or something for a week or two

I will finish the game ASAP!!!
Apologies my fellow Zulu companions.

No story this time I'm afraid. I sent the game to cedric.
I used Zulu expansion tactics during my 15 turns, so we have *a lot* of cities now. It's imperative that we start to develop the cities now, so that our empire will be strong when we discover The Republic. The other civs aren't real threats. They're busy fighting eachother and barbarians, so let them do so

Zimbabwe is halfway the Hanging Garden wonder, but we might want to change this to a more useful wonder like the Pyramids, to assure growth.
Last thing: we need to get a foothold on the eurasian continent, cause it's very fertile ground that's extremely suitable for expansion. Good luck!

unfortunately I have been severly busy during my two weeks of vacation and have not been able to even think about playing Civ. The game has been passed onto Sun Tzu. I believe Smash has already forwarded the MGE game. very sorry about the delay.

I'm a little confused. Are there two Zulu games now, one Classic and one MGE? We could use some clarification (at least I could

Sorry my bad. when referring to MGE I meant the MGE Succession game not the Zulu succession game I was apart of both. I believe that the Zulu game is a MGE save now though or so I thought.

Thanks Cedric. The Zulu game was MGE when it left me, 'cause that's the version I have. As I already stated, I apologize if I screwed it up for anyone else by inadvertantly changing it.
BTW if the game comes to me in the next week you might want to just skip my turn, as I will be out of town quite a bit, and catching up on life (not Civ) when I am in town, so likely won't be able to play for a few days.

Is this game still happening!?! No activity in a week. If it doesn't pick up soon, I may join another succession game. Who has it now?

As far as I can see, SuntZu must have it. If not, then WHERE IS IT? This can't be the end of the glorious omnipotent Zulu empire?!?!

I'm still interested, but only if a few others still are and will see it through to the end. I hate leaving games hanging, especially when they never really got started. Or at this point would it be better just to start a new game?
