Medieval Archer
------------------------
I'm intending to use a javelin unit as the ancient-age missile unit, and the bow as the early medieval missile unit (the crossbow being late medieval missile unit). Some pics:

African Crossbow
------------------------------
Gotta love those flavour units! Rather than civ-specific flavour units, I'm using culture-specific units. I have 8 cultures (as far as units go): African, Asian, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Mediterranean, Meso American, Native American, Middle East. I think that this unit would make a great late-medieval missile unit for the African culture:

Renaissance/Colonial Pirate
-------------------------------
Early marine infantry unit - the following image is actually from Daz3D, and they have a Pirate add-on for Michael, as well as the Buccaneers add-on for the pirate pak:

WWI - Stormtrooper
------------------------------
I intend to use this as the early industrial heavy (attack) infantry unit. This unit could perhaps throw a grenade as attack a and fire the pistol or rifle as attack b?

WWI - Flatcap Infantry
-------------------------------
This unit would be the early industrial medium infantry unit. With a flat cap to differentiate it from Firaxis's Civ3 Infantry

WWI - Horse-drawn Artillery
-------------------------------
Similar to the Napoleonic Horse Artillery that's already been made, but this would be used as the early industrial upgrade (the late industrial mobile artilelry is a self propelled howitzer). Sorry, these are the best pics that I could find.

Cuirassier
---------------------------------
This would be a Renaissance heavy cavalry unit, filling the gap between Cavalier (late) Knight and Hussar.

As you can see, I'm looking for something very much in the French Napoleonic style. I know that's not Renaissance, but I think that style looks best.

You'll notice that this Cuirassier carries a carabine: I plan on using this unit strictly in a close-quarters line breaker role, leaving ranged cavalry to a hit & run role - so I'd rather this cuirassier didn't have any kind of rifle or pistol.

A couple of examples of the Cuirassier charging (attack 'a'? or run? - I'm not sure which would be best)

A different example of what a possible run flc could look like, this time at a canter. Not the position of the sword-arm.

Boer War/WWI - Lancer
----------------------------------
When the early tanks appear in civ I still want there to be some cavalry around and ideally I'd like those to be chargers, not mounted rifleman. I'd originally planned for C3C Hussar to be the Colonial heavy cavalry unit, which would then skip the early industrial upgrade stage and upgrade to Smoking mirror's motorised infantry later on. That way, you still get a mobile attack unit, but the unit's poor stats (compared to to the WWI-proper units, like Trench Soldier and Tank) make it obvious to the player that cavalry is on it's way out and he needs to invest in tanks. That's still the plan, but I think the unit could do with an image update for the 19th/20th century, even if the stats remain the same. Anyway, here are some pics:

You'll no doubt notice that these figurines have different hats. However, I would prefer it if the Lancer unit had the hat with the square top.

I bet I'm not the only one who would like to see a late victorian cavalry unit...

Something a little different: these look more like mounted infantry than true lancers, but whichever the unit creator prefers!

As far as I know, this way of wearing the quiver on the back was only used by native americans. Euro-asian quivers would hang from the archer's belt or from the saddle of a horse.

This may be irrelevant, since you're requesting an african unit, but almost all the pictures show european archers. :)

I know that we already have the Iroqouis Horse Warrior, but if that's their UU then we ned something else. Something like this:

And whilst I'm here, here's another Lancer picture:

Well, let's consider who the known cavalry makers are:

Kindred77
utahjazz7
embryodead
Kinboat
Kryten
BeBro
Dom Pedro II

Any takers?

Here are some more native american horseman pics
