ZWK -another game

Honestly, people, is Lazyciv just a big prank? I've followed the instructions to the letter and it's never, ever, ever worked.

It's worked for me the two times I tested it on my old system. I haven't tested it yet on my XP. Are the city names changing at all for you (last few characters changing)? Are you sure you're loading it at the right time and using the correct 'version' of it?

It's worked pretty well for me too. In zwk5, I compared loading the file with and without it and it corrected the production in dozens of cities. I only had a problem with one city and in that case the production item was corrected properly, I just lost sheilds that I shouldn't have.

Do you have cedric's MPE patch? If you do it requires a different version of the application.

No patch, I have XP, and no city name changes, but I thought that only happened to long names and/or happened only sometimes.

I don't know if it was because of your AI/production problems or what, but there were a lot of poorly defended cities. I can only assume there is a counterattack coming soon.

Liberated Paris (Maginot Line abandoned) and Dijon. Emptied, but could not occupy Lyons and Marseilles - I think all four of these cities were defended by only a single militia! Picked off a couple militia who had done some very well placed pillaging before they died, near Paris and Lyons .

The bomber whose mission it was to hit Marseilles had hoped to find a ship in port, but it found a militia instead. So we sent our sub in aggressively and it found the Capital Ship and sank it with torpedoes. We noticed an M3 division on the way down and sent another bomber (who was originally scheduled to hit Lyons) after it as well.

Killed the allied spitfire that killed our ME Bf109 that killed the Wellington that killed the rat...

Took an unoccupied Lublin.

By the way, with lazyciv, I think you only see the name garbled at the end if it is a long name (>12 chars, I believe).

It should only be to long city names, but it should always happen. If the names of the longest cities haven't changed, it isn't saved. I don't remember any of the city names that should change off the top of my head.

BTW, does your system ever freeze when you are playing Civ 2? Mine does, all the time. :( I'm trying to isolate it. You can answer by PM (or a quick 'no') so we don't totally thread jack here. ;)

Yeah, I was 100% certain that sub was in place, but I knew I had to make some attempt at a dash to Algiers to rehome it before Marseilles either fell or was at least bombed.

And actually, a single militia is damn near all I have per city. No tanks, and planes are still under stinkin construction.

We are continuing our war in africa. We are almost through the first line of fortifications...we shall finish that job next week. We found another mettershhimtt sqadron and again shot it down.

 there only is one unit in that defence line. One hero you are :p

Tirana welcomes the Italians into their city. Troops heading for Scutari as well. Marseilles occupied by Italian forces after the Germans bombed it empty. Italy thanks its ally :goodjob:

I believe this reflects the situation at the end of week 6

Well, I'm simply never going to bother with Lazyciv again. I just lost 4 rush-built spitfires along with the gold they costed, from that false sense of security.

I guess I'll just be cannon fodder until a turn that I am not losing cities...

This turn:

- Dijon burned to the ground along with the panzers in it.

- More pillaging :D

Allied Capital ship sunk off Rotterdam. Carrier “HMS Courageous” and a spitfire squadron on its deck were sunk off Dunkirk.

Bomber on its last drops of fuel flies recon west of Paris and spots an incoming British Wellington squadron near Cherbourg before returning to base. Fighters scramble to intercept and bring down the bombers.

Thanks to reconnaissance data from the Italians, a submarine is able to zero in on a Capital ship attacking Tobruk and sink it.

Bomber headed to Orleans spots a tank in the field and destroys it rather than attack the city. French Tank Division that apparently counterattacked Dijon was also eliminated.

Copenhagen, Kovno, Zagreb, Lyon, and Lwow were all brought under our benevolent protection in the past two weeks.

The Italians are happy they can contribute something meaningful to the Axis intelligence and thank die Kriegsmarine for destroying the Allied ship threatening Italian-Africa coastlines.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that the sub can get there right as the allied ship does? You don't suppose Koby would have set it up that way on purpose, do you? ;)

Actually Koby set it up so that you can sink two of 'em right as they get out of the Suez Canal, but you must have decided not to.

Believe me, I tried! If you read my week 4 post, one happened to sail right up next to my sub, then I guessed correctly where the other one was going. Unfortunately, I just didn't have enough torpedoes. Neither ship went down with the first torp and I only had three, so I would have needed one more to finish the second one off. I wounded it, but couldn't sink it.

I'm still pretty pleased so far. What allied/minor allied ships have we sent down so far - at least 4 Cap Ships and a Carrier? And we've lost 2 subs or something like that. The one I'm most upset about is the sub you nabbed west of Brest. I was just plain careless with that one.

I say just use your torpedoes up, since it's just the only thing to do. It does absolutely no good for you to just wound them.
