ZWK -another game

It probably did affect the game Tim, because I know from having played Italy in two PBEM's and SP that the Panzer II is almost useless. All it is good for is IZOC occupation of empty cities. Even as a veteran, it almost never can destroy a fortified militia in a city, and it can just barely destroy enemy tanks or infantry caught in the field, just barely. I wondered how the hell he got into France.

And yes, you can give Italy virtually every tech you have but they don't have.

He said it only affected the last turn. Toulon fell almost 3 weeks ago, before most of the wierdness seemed to start. That city can fall pretty easily to the PzIIs. TonyUK wiped out my Toulon militia in ZWK5 with a PzII and I looked back at the thread for zwk3 and you took that city in week 4, so it certainly can be done. Their attack is 15 without vet status so it should be an equal match with a fortified militia. I doubt you remember, but if you didn't use the keyboard "f" key, I don't think your militia wouldn't have even been able to fortify before he got there. Attack 15 vs Def 10 would be no contest.

I emptied out Marseilles for him, so he didn't need to fight there. I also think he came through with more than one tank.

If only the last turn was affected, that means the capture of Vichy must be replayed. Were there other battles down there that make you think it goes farther back than one turn? Then again, at this point I can certainly understand any doubts you might have.

As for the gifting techs... you must not have noticed the wink ( ;) ) at the end of that post.

And like I said, the PzrII's almost never kill a fortified militia, but they still can. Usually it takes one or two kamikaze PzrII's, to be honest. Just try it out in a SP test. The odds of killing the fortified militia with one PzrII without the help of a previous kamikaze is about 20%.

I don't know what you mean about the militias being unfortified though. There is a PzrII in Genoa, but it takes a turn to get to Toulon, so the militia there should be fortified by the time it is attacked in turn 2.

If you go into the city window and click on the unit it brings up the pop-up window of orders. If you tell the unit to fortify from this pop-up window, it will not actually fortify until your next turn. Because the Minor Allies go last, you have not started your second turn when his second turn comes along so if you used that popup window to fortify, it won't have taken effect yet. If you activate the unit and hit the "f" key on the main map/window the fortify takes effect immediately. Depending on which way you did it, the militia may not have actually fortified yet by the time his second turn comes around.

I don't know if that is what happened, I'm just saying it's a possibility. I guess I'm just grasping for any possible reason to believe the whole damn thing isn't tainted.

hmmm...

Ok, I thought that the fortification takes place at the start of the second round (Russia's turn), but maybe you're right. Regardless, I'd be surprised if someone had the gall to attack Toulon with only that lone Genoan PzrII division. They wouldn't have much of a chance with just one. When I've played the Minor Axis I've waited until I had a few of them outside Toulon before advancing.

Like I said, you did it yourself once taking Toulon in week 4 as the minor axis.

So I did, but I did have two tanks there.

which can't be. Just start a SP game as the minor axis, you'll have toulon emptied in week 4 with an almost undamaged Panzer II.

I don't think you can get two there that soon. The next closest pz2 starts in rome and can't reach the city in two turns. Even if you rush another one, the closest city is Genoa, which is 7 squares away.

The second was the Roman tank, and what I am saying is that I would not have attacked Toulon with the Genoan tank unless I had the second tank around: in case the Genoan tank failed the Roman tank would be within range to attack again in the next turn. This whole conversation is getting confusing for me though, since the start of ZWK3 was so long ago... :crazyeye:

Nothing much to report...just getting things together

A couple questions...
I thought Imperial Markus had responded first and was taking over in this one. Not that I care who it is...just want to know who to work with.
Why week 8 instead of going back one turn (before the battles in Vichy and Cairo) to week 10?

Just curious.

I just went back 2 or 3 turns for all of them because that's when things started changing. It sounds like there might have been production changes as well as unit changes.

And, yes, Imperial-Markus did volunteer first. He could always use the same file the Rhodry played from to do the Minor Axis turn.

Ah hey there you are!!

I just got lost completely there are so many ZWK-games with almost the same players in it.

Well yes just continue with the turn and I will take over next round. I'm sure Rhodry did not began to build granaries everywhere :)

Ok so Yop is next with soviet week 10 and Markus will pick up the minor axis from here on out?
