On Innonimatu's "wonderful post" (which it is), would you happen to know if this has this been looked into elsewhere in Socialist or Marxist thought? The closest I've seen is the notion of "Coordinatorism" in Parecon, which is something of its own creature...
I'd love to laugh but TBH it's one of those words I constantly misspell too... that and bureacrat
Thanks ol' man! Added. I probably need to add some right wing literature to ma' list lest I go all bolshy on you ;)
Hello ol' man. I'm looking to get my Christmas book purchases off the ground before I go on holiday. Now, I figure it's probably about time I get a solid grounding in Marxism, so I've put together something of a reading list. The principal contributor to which is, of course, you. The question I want to pose is this: Is there anything I'm missing from this list?

Ten days that Shook the World - Reed
Everyday Stalinism: Ordinary Life in Extraordinary Times: Soviet Russia in the 1930s - Fitzpatrick
History of the Russian Revolution - Trotsky
History and Class Consciousness: Studies in Marxist Dialectics - Lukács
An Introduction to Marxist Economic Theory - Mandel
The Dictatorship of the Proletariat - Kautsky
I feel he is better then Ayn Rand, Dommy, Alio, Moonbat, and that one nutter we had on here briefly. Of all the bad choices, he is the best we have.
Ah, very interesting, thank you. I'm still relatively new to a lot of the finer details of socialist theory, history and so on, y'see.

Out of interest, do you have any opinions as to what the Bolsheviks or other communists could've done differently to spread the revolution, or was the time simply not right for the sort of radical mass movement which that demanded? There were uprisings in Germany and Hungary, of course, and more than a few hints elsewhere (particularly Scotland, he said with a hint of pride), not to mention the Connollyite faction of the IRA, but do you think that there was any way those could've taken off more successfully?
On your comment on "greater knowledge and hindsight" in the Reading thread, what exactly is your position on Leninism and Trotskyism? I know you've defended the former against some of the more blinkered of our co-posters, but have also expressed a certain scepticism of both. Are there are any major points of theory on which you differ, or is it simply a time-and-place thing?
I would like to apologise to you on offending you with my selfish views of my entitlement. I've decided to swallow my pride and accept any job that comes to me, even if it's below my level (and have to convince the employer that I am not overqualified) :(.
Are you at all familiar with the song "A Man's A Man" by Robert Burns? It's considered a socialist anthem in Europe (Liebknecht sang it in front of the firing squad, to give you some idea of its weight), and I was wondering if it has any similar presence in the US? Here's a good recording and the lyrics, if you're unfamiliar.
So, luiz and Patroklos tried to expose you as a bourgeois pig a while back? That must have been quite a sight.
Yeah. Have you ever seen it in RL? It's hard to believe that all that could get packed into that tiny space
