Known as the first King of All England, Ecgberht of Wessex returned to
England in 802 from his exile at the court of Charlemagne. Ecgberht
defeated the rival Mercians at the battle of Ellendun in 825. In
829, Northumbria, the last of the Saxon kingdoms of the British
Heptarchy accepted his overlordship and Ecgberht was proclaimed
Bretwalda, or sole ruler, of Britain. Can you repeat his campaign and
unite England?
^
^^NOTES

^Research is not a factor--don't bother.
^Negotiations with the other kings are not permitted.
^Government switching is not allowed.
^There is no barracks improvement--veteran units must be earned.
