Firaxis have a lot to answer for with BtS 3.13 :mad:

Chas cannot open the file with 1.61 ... not compatible.

His 1.74 is no longer compatible either if he has patched BtS to 3.13 as this ingenious patch alters the core Civ4 program meaning his 1.74 is no longer standard 1.74.

I uninstalled BtS to get rid of the patch but this rendered Civ4 inoperable, hence the length of time it took me to play NITF.

Assuming i'm right about Chas's problem, the only way I see to fix it is to pretty much uninstall everything, install Civ4 and patch to 1.74, copy and paste the whole folder, then install BtS, patching to 3.13 if you wish. This will also alter your original Civ4 install but not the copy'n'paste version.
 
I am forced to not continue this game, it was looking interesting too.
I am presently playing 5 other games. They are all upgraded and I have no problems 2 C4W, 1 CIV, and a BtS. I will not chance going backwards any further. Please find a replacement for me. Sorry guys. For future reference; I am available to play maybe 2 more games. Thanks.
 
I kind of figured it would be something like Daz said but I just don't have the time to do all that right now and put off the other games until I do it all. I am going away this weekend. I work w/travel time 10 hrs a day daily during the week. I am a civ fanatic but.....time, priorities, etc. What Daz did is a major operation as when I spent 4/5 hrs doing the other change. I don't want to promise something and then not be able to come through. What happens when the turn reaches cthyssen? Best wishes to all of you. If you want me to retake my turn and resign let me know. The AI would also change the dynamics.
 
I just got called on a Job for mexico where I will be gone for two weeks. I will not be able to play that often. I leave next week tuesday.

Chasbolt - Do you want to reconsider reconfiguring you system during that time? Sounds like you will need to do it anyways in the future if you try joining another Vanilla 1.74 game.
 
I may try after I get back from my weekend at the earliest Tuesday, I still think you should put out a line and see if you get any bites from a 1.74 Civer.
 
If you need a player, I'm up for it. I've never played PBEM, but I would love to try. I could play one turn during the day and/or one turn in the evenings. I'm in San Diego, CA.
 
Sold! I'm a former resident of San Diego. Mitchum, you can take over Chasbolt if he drops out for sure. The choice is his.

You have 1.74 without a BtS 3.13 right?

Yes, I have 1.74 without BtS (or Warlords for that matter). If I'm going to play, I'd like to get an idea of major events (e.g. wars, Oracle race, etc.) and an idea from Chasbolt (via PM) what he's currently trying to accomplish.

Chasbolt, I don't want to steal your spot. I'll leave it up to you and rest of the players to decide.

I sent each of you a PM to get more information about your strategy with respect to my civs. Once I've heard from each of you, I'll play my first turn.

I got the save and have looked at just Ozy 1. I have two questions:

1. Can I cycle through all of my Ozy 1 units, open the Ozy 2 save, and then re-open the original save game and replay Ozy 1? I'd like to understand what Ozy 2 is doing before I make any changes to Ozy 1.

2. It looks like each of my civs is playing independently. Is this true? Do I have to trade techs between my civs or do they automatically share them? Do I have to trade resources between my civs or do they both have access to each other's resources (assuming they have trade routes connected of course).

1. No, you need to play one position before you can look at the other. What you can do is play a dummy turn for the first position so that you can look at the second position, then go back to the original save file and replay the first position properly.

2. Yes, both positions are totally independant. You can trade tech and resources but nothing happens automatically.
 
Thanks for the response. I was trying to say the same thing in #1 that you said.

I've looked at the save and something strange is going on. As Ozy1, it appears that I haven't met Mao, Daz 1 or Agemo 1. As Ozy 2, it appears that I haven't met Daz 1 and Daz 2. As Ozy1, I sailed a caravel right up to a city of one of these "unknown" civs and nothing happend. I cannot see any of the mentioned civs in the F4 screen. What is going on?

I'm ready to play my turns, but I'd like to figure this out first.

Turn played and I sent the save to Dazz.

Dazz1, check to see if you have contact with Ozy 1 and Ozy 2.
Dazz2, check to see if you have contact with Ozy 2.
Agemo 1, check to see if you have contact with Ozy 1.

Maybe you guys could offer some crazy trade that I'll never accept just to ensure that I have contact w/you in the game.
 
I will be in Mexico October 23rd to Nov 4th. I will have internet access and my laptop, I should be able to play. But my communication might be spotty.
 
hey tim - did you see this thread at apolyton about your BtS issue with vanilla? It has a fix for chasbolt. Note: I haven't tested it.
