A note to moderaters: I have no idea where to but this thread but I'm pretty sure it's a aloud/aload/I have no idea how to spell this, because I have seen other threads similar to this one. So please move this to where it is appropriate.

1) Civ3 - Barbarians can exist up to 1900 AD with horses and axes and sometimes longer

2:Civ1-A Phalanx can sink a Battleship

3) Civ 4 - you never learn what a captured spy tried to do, or who is behind a successful spy mission/terrorist acts.

4) Problems of scale- 1 gold ≠ 1 gold. 1 citizen ≠ 1 person. 1 hammer ≠ 1 hammer. etc.

5) The power of the stack of doom.

6) If you are a major world leader, you can live to be 6050+

Yeah, but enhanced realism will often create better gameplay.

7) Hammurabi of 1700BC communicating with Louis XIV of 1700AD.

8) Taking forty years to climb a hill.

Actually most of the time it doesn't. It can however enhance the gaming experience as long as it doesn't hamper gameplay too much.

So long as you're picking the right things to be realistic about it will. For instance, it would enhance the gameplay experience to have more realistic warfare, but it would probably take away from the gaming experience if there was more realistic farming techniques and management practices.

9) Millions of people fitting into cities with only a handful of buildings.

10) A trireme is as big as a destroyer.

All things being equal, a realistic mechanic is better then an unrealistic one, but gameplay shouldn't suffer because of realism.

That really depends on what type of game you like to play.

I also prefer the game to have more of a bigger picture type outlook, rather than the minute details.

An unrealistic naming convention that all civilizations would use US titles for government agencies. The UK has a ministry of defense, not a pentagon.

13) The Pyramids - a well-known tomb - having the bizarre ability to install a Granary - a place to store food - in every city you own.

Wait... what? The Pyramids enable all government civics, not give you granaries.

Not in Civ3. That's why I started putting Civ#- infront of message

15)Civ4 - When a missionary completes it's mission it claps it's hands together and magically dissapears off the face of the earth.
