[147.4] Long delay between a order to Skirmisher to move and the movement itself

In my latest game, I've sent a skirmisher to explore the fog of war areas of the other continent (I'm playing Continents plus). You can see in the image the order I'm giving to my skirmisher. Well, it takes 5 to 6 seconds to the Skirmisher to move!.

In my own continent (revealed), the movement of vanilla units is immediate. However, there's an appreciable delay of 1/2 seconds or so when moving a Skirmisher. Could it be related to the skirmisher's promotions and how they change the movement rules (ignore terrain cost, +1 movement, +1 sight)?.

Another hypothesis: this behaviour may be related to the long loading savegame time and larger savegame file size: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=458810 .

I've attached the savegame so, if you have time, you can move the skirmisher and see the response time in your computer. Warning: it takes several minutes to load the savegame.

EDIT: removed the savegame because I have nearly no quota left

This is very common in my games.
I'm not sure it's skirmishers that are the culprit.
Moving into a fog zone late game causes the game to pause for about 30 seconds.
It's a pain when you're sailing about with a navy.

I opened the savefile and saw the same things you describe. This is definitely a vanilla bug, because the code dealing with unit movement is in the game core only Firaxis has access to. My guess is a memory leak.

I've seen moving into fog of war take multiple seconds for as long as I remember. I've always assumed that there were "explore tile" triggers in vanilla that ran when you revealed new tiles.

I have also seen this behavior, and although my machine isn't the greatest, it definately seems to be a greater delay now than it was before.

So IMHO even though the behavior itself may be vanilla, since the times have increased recently it most likely is something VEM related that is causing the vanilla delay?

Then again... What do I know...

I don't think it's possible for a mod to do that, and I haven't written any code which might do so. Moving into fog is usually instantaneous for me.

Using 153 (and all previous versions for the past 6 months) I have the same problem. Not only with regards to terra incognita, the issue also happens for fog of war, for moving to and from the city information screens and most irritatingly for operating in the city information screen.

The act of moving when that movement includes adjusting fog of war or revealing terra incognita always includes a substantial delay for me. That delay starts small and increases. The same length of delay happens when moving to and from cities and when making any adjustments within the city screen. Though, strangely enough, when I click as if the clicks had effect then all the effects do happen with the same delay. I click on seconds 1,2 and 3 and the effects of these clicks happen on seconds 6,7 and 8.

I do have a craptastic computer with a craptastic graphics card; but; this problem does not repeat with other mods and with vanilla (with using the same size and kind of maps and similar numbers of units). With the other mods the performance issue is clearly limited to processing time between turns.

This problem is clearly graphics related and it is mod related.

Moved to version 154 and still experiencing these delays. 3 - 8 seconds. I don't notice them early on in the game but they increase as the amount of map is revealed.

Noticed this behavior any time that I become allied with a CS that reveals new tiles as well as (I think), movement into lands previously explored but covered with "Fog".

Welcome to the forum LanguishViking! :goodjob:

Could yall post your lua.log file after clicking the + button on the top bar? It will contain information about the map type which might be useful.

I also see this CS version of the issue.
