1680x1050 resolution won't work

My monitor's native resolution is 1680x1050... CIV IV BTS will not start in WIN XP at this resolution... I have to reset my monitor resolution to something lower, then change the Video Option once the game starts...

A nuisance, and sometimes the game won't start at all... any help appreciated.

did you try setting it in the civilizationIV.ini?

Same problem with resolution here. If I forget to change the resolution before leaving the game; the game will not load when set to 1680x1050; I get an error with dirkw32.dll.

What setting do I change in civilizationIV.ini ?

I changed civilizationIV.ini but it still crashes.

bink is the movie player. might try setting the .ini flag to skip all the opening video
