using theocracy for religion in your civics, it says you get +2 experience pts. for what?

For military units built in any of your cities that practice your state religion.

what if you combine it w/vassalage (+2 per unit too). then you get +4?

and does the pentagon (+2 per unit) add too?

..very confused.

Yeah :D So like building a land unit with theocracy + vassalage + the Pentagon + Barracks + HE would make an AWESOME military city!! (I know I am forgetting something(s) that do give XP, but I'm also a noob to the game! So bear with me :P)

that's weird. i'm trying it right now but only getting two upgrade levels

wait tho.. does an extra xp mean an upgrade level? that's prob wher ei'm getting confused

Upgrade levels are different from XP. Upgrade levels are achieved by gaining a certain amount of XP. It goes something like 2 XP, 5 XP, 10 XP, 17 XP and more that I have ever gotten to. So if you've built all of the buildings you stated, you're getting 6 XP. that means 2 upgrades!

Military units have a certain experience level requirement. You can view it in their info screen. Those +2 exp points come in very handy when coupled with other +exp civics or buildings. It's not uncommon to immediately upgrade units 3x when created. As mentioned, Theocracy + Vassalage + Barracks + Pentagon = Army on steroids.

Don't forget the settled Great General(S).

Four or more promotions of the bat is possible in the late game. Makes for some very versatile armies of tanks. Provided no one (monty, kublai etc) has an equal army of choppers.

I knew I was forgetting those..But only because I don't have BtS/Warlords (whichever it happens to be, I don't have either :(), so I didn't want to talk about something I REALLY don't know about lol

Well what are you waiting for. Go and Grab BtS or even Warlords. Great Generals are fun fun fun.

Yep. After 17XP, I saw 26XP and 37XP (for 6 upgrades!)... That's as far as I got, but following the mathematical pattern, the next one should be at 50XP, then 65. I don't usually get that many combat chances for any single unit. In real life, I don't have enough time to play a marathon game all the way through, so standard size and speed games for me! (It limits the number of Great Generals I can generate, too.)

WP, not HE ;) . Heroic Epic speeds up military unit production, but does not give extra XP. West Point gives an extra 4 XP. Pentagon gives 2 XP in all cities not just the city you built it in.

So, with the above build, you would get:

2 + 2 + 2 + 4 + 4 = 14 XP in the WP city
2 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 10 XP in all other cities

In both cases you get 3 free promotions, but the West Point grads would only have to fight 2-3 battles before getting the 4th.

I added in HE because of the 100% bonus! It WOULD be an awesome military city if you did have both WP and HE in the same city! getting 14 XP units, at twice the speed!:goodjob:

Indeed it is, a HE/WP city is the cornerstone of any good military. Elite soldiers pumped out rapidly will make your enemies cry. Throw in the Police State civic and the Military Academy from Great Generals (Warlords/BtS) and it's even quicker still.
