i was thinking of it all weekend. next time for sure 
on another note - that play in the astros-mets game from the other night ('stros baserunners careening at home plate) reminded me of a play from back in the day in a yanks-chisox game where 2 yankees runners similarly reached the dish on a single play...but the original Pudge (c fisk) tagged both of them (!) i know one of the runners was the immortal bobby meacham - can't remember the other atm. but i was watching that game on the tv as a kid when it happened (ch 11 wpix).

My friend has been arguing with me for the past couple weeks that the d-backs shouldn't be in. They have the 8th best record in the NL I think he said. He wants it to just be the 1-2-3 teams with the best team getting a bye as a reward for having the best record. I like it as it is really.

After being a cubs fan most of the 80's and all of the 90's it is taking A LONG time to get used to the fact that the cubs are actually good. I am still in a mind state that says they are going to blow every game, and then daryle ward smokes a three run homer in the 9th for a come from behind win. Man I love baseball, you are never out of a game until that 27th out.

I'd take the Nationals for their upside since the Mariners will be the first team ever to lose 100 games and spend $100 million for all those losses. Mind blowing.
