2011 MLB Thread

But can they deal with the unfamiliar territory of being ahead ?

We will see. Honestly I'm already calling this season a success. When we heard that Adam Wainwright went down months ago I wasn't even sure that we'd make the playoffs. It was a very terrifying game. Much like game 5 against phillies I spent most of that game pacing around the room. I hate having only a one run lead.

Any excuse to blame Lackey for anything is fine by me. I really hated how he would get all angry and frustrated when fielders would miss tough plays or little dribblers would sneak out of the infield or he would have this stupid pouty "I can't believe you're pulling me" face when Terry would pull him after giving up 6 runs in 4 innings. Showing up your fielders is totally unacceptable IMO. He struck me as totally unwilling to acknowledge that he sucked.

i wonder if boston will force the cubs to take lackey and his baggage? have any of you read the disturbing reports about the dissension in the boston locker room? what say you Red Sox Nation? :)

Honestly, this has plagued us since time immemorial. The adage here is "25 guys, 25 cabs", and it seems quite true today. Chemistry is not something you can test beforehand, unfortunately, and this team ended up with zero. I love Tito, but i think he needed to run a much tighter ship with this cast of characters than he did. Give 25 friends that kind of leeway and you can win it all; give 25 people who can't stand each other that kind of leeway and it can and did swallow us whole.

I think, long term,we would have been better off had we gutted the team and kept Tito and Theo instead. A 9-digit payroll makes rebuilding easier, good management can be hard to find. It will be an interesting winter.

Good win for the Brewers last night. I thought we'd take advantage of Wolf, but he does have a good record against St Louis, and he threw a good game. And, for the record, the strike zone Lohse was being given in the 1st inning was unseemly generous. Didn't help us too much, though.

It can't involve major league players, it can either be money (as the Cubs and mlb office want) or prospects (as the Red Sox want). The only way the Cubs take Lackey is if the Red Sox take Zambrano or Soriano.

Gotta love that third inning. GO RANGERS!!!!

By the way...found this in my bookmarks.

I always get the Braves.

Now that was a game to remember. :goodjob:

Great chart Vevarde. I got as far as the "Really?" question between the Blue Jays and Cards before I wasn't sure what my reaction would be (never having caught a foul ball), and as I could see the answer for "no" gave me St Louis, I had to choose that option.

Love the options which lead you to the Yankees, Mets & Cubs/Phillies/Brewers set. Actually, there's a lot of that chart I love. :goodjob:

That is what is so dangerous about Texas. All it takes is one innings for the game to get out of hand.

Yep. If we get there, I rather fear for the likes of Garcia and Lohse against those guys. Good pitchers, but susceptible to a bad inning. And that could be really bad against the Rangers. I hope we get the chance to find out, though :)

More like hating demons.

Or Satan.
