2011 MLB Thread

Oh my god.

We stole that one. Just completely stole it.

I cannot believe it. I just can't....

Wow. What a game. That has to be the best comeback World Series game I've ever seen. Down to one strike twice...

That was the greatest game I've ever seen.

Holy ........ *jaw drops*

This has been one of the most exciting post-seasons, at least for the cardinals, I have ever seen. Just getting into the post season was epic, but then everything we've done since then. It's just amazing.

Here is an amusing little piece of trivia for you.

Alexi Ogando, Neftali Feliz, and Scott Feldman were all credited with blown saves. That has to be a new record; three pitchers in the same game credited with blown saves.

Apparently the 3 BS are a record for a World Series game.

I still can't believe the Cardinals got away with that game - they were incredibly sloppy over the first 7 innings. No intensity & seemed to be lacking focus. The errors were obviously the best example, but the baserunning, batting and pitching all had a feel of spring training about them, with a bunch of players who already know they have made the squad. Now, I'm sure that's unfair to them, but it just didn't feel that they were mentally in the game.

Got to feel bad for Hamilton, though my sympathy is tempered a bit by the fact that God told him he was going to hit a homer in the top of the 10th (or so Josh says). If that was the case, then God's got a bit of twisted sense of humour, because after giving with one hand in the top of the 10th, he certainly taketh away with the other in the next half-inning.

Game 7 tonight then. I almost wish we had another day or two to take this one in.

Low ratings for the whole series. Maybe Bud Selig (or the owners?) ought to bring back the use of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs; for to bring back more home runs = mo ratings!

Will Texas regret that one? I think that there was an opportunity for a pinch hitter to go for the pitcher and it was not taken. That was a big mistake and I thought it would come back to haunt them, and I was right. That would have meant that the 6th innings would have been pitched by Holland instead.

Especially condisering the fact that it was an AL pitcher, so he never hits (no experience and mechanics at the plate whatsoever). Pinch hitting seems like a no brainer to me, but then again, I'm not a MLB manager....

Such decisions are rarely made in the AL, which is why he did not make the decision, when he should have. The thing is that he had a terrific pitcher to come in had he pinch hit for Lewis in the 5th. Considering it was only a run lead, they needed more insurance at that time, had the move paid off.

wow. that is a rather obtuse comment after last night. no?

Sorry about that. The older I get, the less jubilant I am when watching spectator sports.

The only way to spend quality time with my brother (sport fanatic).
