I updated to 3.13. Now the audio and other tabs under advanced/options are missing all of their options. In addition I can not load any previous saved games or start new games. CIV starts to load, but then crashes at Setup Map.

About says the following
Civ Version 313
Save Version 301
Build Version 3.0.0.91
Build Date Thur Jun 28

Also, I loaded a mod (Charlemagne) and was able to start a game and was able to load the africa map (without the mod). So it seems to just be with the random maps.

I've tried reinstalling both BTS and CIV with no luck. Any help appreciated.

Update: Its the advanced start that makes the charlemagne scenario work. As soon as I place a city the game crashes.
Update II: The game is telling me the patch is still available, so Its downloading it again...

Very similar symptoms after installing the patch. I've gotten past map generation, though.

I remember that a buddy installed the game on vista, and the patch that Beyond applies before installing was badly installed.
We didn't see that, and when he started the game, there were not the text on the advanced menu, just things like "TXT_DIPLOMATIC".
The game also asked him for install the last patch that he already had.
Finally, the solution was just to patch the game again : )

Ya, I've tried reinstalling. Also tried installing old patches first. In addition I just noticed that checkmark options under advanced/options/graphics are gone. I've reverted back to BtS without a patch unless anyone has any ideas.

It's not updating the exe, for some reason. Try to download the patch from here, avoid using online updating. As far as I know, the downloaded patch updates the exe correctly.

I have seen this once - were did you get the patch from? This is not the correct one, this:
Code:
Build Version 3.0.0.91
Build Date Thur Jun 28
should be
Code:
Build Version 3.0.1
Build Date Fri Sep 21
so somehow you got an earlier build of it or the patch did not install completely.

I've downloaded the patch both through the game, and through civfanatics and have installed them on fresh installs of civ/warlords/Bts without any other patches and with the most recent BtS patch.

exe. Tues July 17 2007
cvcoregamedll.dll Wed Aug 29 2007

These dates are without the newest patch installed. I'm getting sick of installing the patch, seeing it not work, and then having to reinstall BtS, but if you have any idea what is wrong I'm listening.

I'm wondering if, when you uninstall BTS, you manually go to \Program Files\Firaxis and delete that folder too? Could be that some files are left behind and interfere with the new install.

Also, have you checked your My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword folder for any custom assets, etc. that could be conflicting with your new install also?

And, if you really want to make sure all is well I recommend getting a registry cleaner (such as RegCleaner) and deleting any Civ4 entries you find still there after uninstall. If you don't want to mess with registry, though, I understand.

If, after all the above, your patch still doesn't work I have no idea what is going on, other than gremlins perhaps. Or bad karma. :crazyeye:

P.S. you said problem was with the random maps. I wonder did you ever have a custom map script installed before?

No I never did go and manually delete the BtS folder, might have to try that. probably won't be until next weekend though...

I never downloaded any mods/scenarios etc. except for Solvers patch

It isn't just random maps, I just thought it was at first. For scenarios it loads fine until the first city is placed, then crashes.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems. Definitely do a full uninstall, as suggested above, making sure to manually delete any leftovers.

Also, when installing patches, I advise you to disable any virus checkers running in the background as they often interfere. Good luck! :D
