Question, are there any rules about out of game communication? For example, I've seen in some games where you must meet in-game before you can start communicating with emails and the like.

well, guess there ain't haven't really thought about that, but guess emailing cannot be hindered nor controlled, so its allowed.

Though im not gonna use that, unless, well i DO have the email-owner on the list, But use the ingame Diplomacy :)

and then the game has started.

4000 BC created, sent to Gwynin

Good luck all, and lets hope this time we can get this one work.

That sounds about right.
And you should not exchange info that your state of knowledge prevents.
eg no directions or locations if you don't have map sharing yet...

I'm not sure about the map sharing thing. I mean, you shouldn't be doing it anyway as you don't want to help out teams too much, but that one might be taking it too far?

I think a vote might be in order instead of us just musing.

Topic #1
Should we allow communication before actual in-game contact? Such as, right at the start of the game when I have no knowledge of other civs out in the fog I can't send diplomatic emails and such.
Yes or no to restrictions on communications before contact

Topic #2
Should we allow details about maps to be discussed before paper? If my civ borders bathsheba666 can I say, "Hey, I'll tell you who is on the other side of me if you do such and such for me."
Yes or no to restrictions on map details before paper

I vote yes for #1 and no for #2

So:
#1- 1/yes and 0/no
#2- 0/yes and 1/no

(others copy and paste this^ as you vote so we don't have to tally later?)

Alright, well aside from not knowing where the game is at the moment :p
Most people seem to be leaning towards no restrictions, just no screenshots before paper? Of course none of these rules can really be enforced but we'll just have to rely on the honor system here.

Precisely :king:

And when you say no restrictions, you mean that by, that we should allow these restrictions, yes? as we restrict ourself to NOT using Email, PM nor screenshots, right?

What happend bathsheeba666?
.
The save Gwynin sent me was corrupt, and I emailed him back that he needs to delete the save for me, and replay and re-send his turn.

If you look at my post #44 that should nail it.

......

I don't see what the problem might be in communicating via email.
The only problem there could be with a communication would be the content, not the means of sending it. What, not how...

I think we should be allowed any means of communication we wish.

But I agree we can't send screenshots before paper,
I vote no locations or directions before paper,
no planning or specific strategy before you meet in game.

Is there any news on the game? Has it been resent or anything like that? If people are playing and sending can we post in the forums when it happens so the others know if they are getting close to getting an email?

Hmm, so from what I can tell it is stuck with Gwynin?

EDIT: Stuck in the sense that it has not been resent since the file was shown to be corrupted
