Wonderful :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Was this gael's work?

...I might use it as my avatar

Oh ye, I just found out in my med. history lecture yesterday, that the term "North Atlantic Archipelago" is used in order not to offend Irish historians. That's mildly amusing :)

Its more a geographical discription than the later adopted political one, which would'nt have been in use during the time of this scenario.

Also it is wildly known that us Irish folk can be fiercely defensive, (to the point of being a pain in the arse), when it comes to being lumped under anything British. ;) :)

Nice...scary beyond on common belief or reason...but still nice.

Who are the others likely to be?

The others are "the Ard Ri (Irish High King) of Connaght," "Vorimorus, king of Dumnonia (Cornwall)," "Niall Nóigiallach, or Niall of the Nine Hostages, leader for the Ulster kingdom (Ireland)," and "King of Leinster (Ireland); He'll probably be Dermot MacMurrough"

Gael did his part a while ago but I've been slacking on the FLCs and such. You can see previews in this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49040

Comments like that always fascinate me Madeira. What do you find so appealing about animated leaderheads? The animation conveys nothing, to me, in the game and I find the easier time in creating and the vastly smaller file size of static heads far outweighs the eye candy aspect of animaged ones. I'm always curious to find out why others feel differently.

ok I downloaded and found out that they arent animated. BTW I do have a suggestion for you. WHen creating the flcs you need 121 frames which you have, BUT make the delay 1 milisecond instead of ten. Trust me, it reduces file size. I got your ancient one from 85,690b to 53,020b just by using this method.

Unless I'm missing something major, you don't need 121 frames for a static leaderhead.
Some time ago I made a Paul Kruger head as an flc for my Afrikaner civ (I would quote the thread if I knew how) which consists of only one frame and it works fine. OK, it doesn't move much and isn't the greatest piece of work ever posted, but it functions. So why this insistence on 121 frames!?

What I look for in a leaderhead is that it be era specific, it fit in with the original leaderheads, and it conveys the other civs stance towards my own.

These heads meet all those requirements and go above and beyond those animated heads for the reasons pdescobar stated above; they are easier to make and they come in much smaller files. :)

Tweedledum, I consider the 121-frame thing to be partly standardization with how the game files are and partly an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" idea. All the default game FLCs are 121 frames and almost all animators have adopted this as their standard. While a static FLC of one frame does seem to work, at least with recent patches, in my very limited tests, many people I respect who do (admittedly usually animated) leaderheads quote the 121-frame figure and I am not 100% confident that other numbers will work without problems. Additionally, using the Ancient Wessex head as an example, a 121-frame 1ms delay head is 53,020 bytes and the same head reduced to a single frame of 1 ms delay is 50,140 bytes. I am more comfortable including that extra 3k of information and keeping with the "standard."

It is entirely possible that you don't need 121-frames now and also possible that you never actually needed 121-frames, but I would rather have a slightly larger file which maintains consistency and causes me less worry :)

Whenever gael bugs me about them, LOL. Wow, this has been on the shelf for a long time, though. That's what I get for spending the majority of free time testing. I'll see if I can make some progress in the next two weeks.

gael, is that preview of some of the 4 I haven't done yet or are they additional? I *will* get around to doing the rest of the ones you previously posted since others are interested in them and I have the zips already, but it's slipped in priority since your comp access has gone and the scenario is now in limbo. If I don't find time beforehand, I should be able to get them done once the DyP release is out, which should be in early July. If you have done more than these original 9, feel free to post up the zips for the others and I'll get around to them when I have a chance.

pdescobar, these are different ones to the files you have.

I have limited access to the same PC that i was using when i was planning to make the scenario, so the new leaderhead files that i made are still here on the C drive.

Theres no pressure coming from me to get those leaderheads finished, its up to you mate.
I'll post a link to the files on this thread when i can.

Sorry man, I sort of feel like you've put the time in for nothing, ...but life got in the way.:(
