2670: Clark kills one barb at camp. One left. Lux to 30

2590: No River founded.
IT: Settler to settler at Salamanca.
2550: Clark eliminates barb camp. Lux to 10. Science to 90. Took 25g from the barb camp. Couldn't get rid of it yet. Suggest we send the young men west to the wandering barb area.

Post mortem self doubt: build pattern too tight? Felt Salamanca was going to pump settlers for the next 100 turns or so, thus the layout. Decided to gamble and run settlers unescorted. What is the barb setting anyway?

little tight, but not too bad. 3tiles is a little close (if i see it correctly) and i would have gone 1T N for No River but i think we'll be ok. barb setting is restless so we should be careful.
we should get a couple of warriors out of sala before the next settler (maybe 2 + 1 worker = 30 shields or 1 settler), 2 for MP and the worker to improve the roads out. her pop should be at least 4 to do a 4-6 settler pump with this setup, but i'd rather have it at size 5 as we could do a warrior and settler every 4T.

@ size 6, it's even more productive so it should work a river tile to get more gold. however, it doesn't have to be mined, so just road it (for the gold) and then get working on the other towns.

So for my 10 the plan is
1. Keep researching Writing
2. Salamanca builds switch to worker unless shields wasted (complete settler if wasting lots)
3. Other cities complete warrior builds then a worker from each before starting barracks (vet MWs)
4. Stay at peace with all others
5. Keep scouting and looking for neighbors

Any thoughts on where that settler should be heading?

I thought the same thing when I saw the location, but no harm done if we keep no river citizens from working Salamanca's BGs. Or it could just be a cheap warrior/worker producer, and we could always relocate once the area is filled out. I would actually plant the settler 5 SW of Salamanca, followed by another one adjacent to the river by where those 3 barbs were. With the wheat tile that would give us another good settler/worker factory.
 
I'll work on a map tonight, though don't expect much. I ain't the best at this....but I need the practice.
 
G-man beat me to it...but since we are heading in the same direction I'll defer to his map, it uses better colors anyway. :goodjob:
 
Once No River gets the warrior out, it can finish exploring the northern area. The more I look at it, the more I think No River needs to be resettled 1N. Salamanca is a 600-lb gorilla in the making, so it will need room to make use of it's full 21 tiles down the road.
 
Or the citizens of No River could become the multitude who loafs and fishes....
 
Didn't get to this last night (darn that RL). How about popping a worker out of No River and then disbanding to be replaced 1 north. Any preferences on where to plant the current settler?

that would work for me, though based on the screenshot, i think you'll do warrior -> worker -> abandon.

prefered city spots? probably SW, but the current settler is already heading N, so just keep heading that way for now. getting the warrior/settler factory up and running @ size 5 is key right now :)

Turn 1 – 2510 BC – Up luxury rate to 20% (still writing in 12) to prevent Salamanca riot – Thor (warrior) heads NE to eliminate barbs and scout – Settler sent NE to location 1 NE of chosen spot (will get 2 BG in initial settle and gain the game on first expansion) – Since we’ve met no one not trades available

Turn 2 – 2470 BC – Thor NE with Settler following

IBT: Salamanca grows to size 4

Turn 3 - 2430 BC – Increase luxury rate to 30% - Thor N finds BW – Settler following

IBT: No River Warrior->Worker

Turn 4 – 2390 BC – Conan (Warrior) sent scouting to the west – Thor (3/3) kills BW

IBT: - Salamanca Settler->Settler – Viagra Falls Warrior->Curragh

Turn 10 – 2150 BC – Luxury rate back to 20% - Drake (curragh) heading NE along the coast – Conan and Settler NW spot a French city (Rheims) and a BV in the mountains N – Settler head west to closest blue dot - Odin approaches BV – Thor reaches GH

Turnover notes: I would keep going with Conan & Settler to the tile S of wheat, it’s on the river and has a BG & wheat to start with – The new settler is meant for the nearest western dot – it might be time to replace No River (I hate disbanding cities so left this task to the next player) – You also have the choice on whether or not to pop that GH in the north – we’ll have writing in 3 and then we better head for literature as the GL might be our only hope to catch up quickly on tech

Note that Salamanca & Viagra Falls will both grow in 1, with 1h/1u already, so MM lux @ 20% to prevent riots.

IBT: BW takes Odin on mtn to red. Growth with no riots. Gold 20 > 20.

2110 – 1
MM spending to 50% tech, 30% lux to keep writing in 2, and unhappy <= happy.
Odin forts to heal, settler SW to gems, Conan & settler W, Bee SE, Drake 2 NE, Thor west & pops BWs.
