31 Player Hotseat

OK, so we're making some progress. You're going to have to give me more details on the error though, I can't help you with just the fact that there's an error.

they were pretty vague:

@Civinator - can you point me to the separate threads where they posted the No-Raze patch for Conquests vs Complete? I should probably do some analysis to see the differences.

Both versions are attached to some scenarios that need this patch. One of these scenarios is AoI (Age of Imperialism). Here an excerpt of the install instruction:

~~ Cut the corresponding no raze file in this folder. Now, the one that corresponds for you depends on what type of civ3 conquests you have on your computer. The one with the 2 on the end is Civ3Complete. The one without is Civ3 Conquest. So be sure to use the appropriate no raze file and make certain that you name the new exe file exactly the same as your original one.

OK. This here is a temporary hack, but I think this version ought to work with C3C from Complete. There was an annoying memory offset that had to be changed.

Do NOT use this with regular Conquests. This is only for Complete.

it worked! now to make them all human controlled to i just type * and then ! ?

Yes. Be careful that if you do that, the barbarians become human-controlled too. You can do that and toggle the barbarians off later if that's what you desire.

when i type *! into the program and hit enter, in the game the date changes to 1509 and if i finish the turn and hit enter it tells me my golden age has ended and i never get to do the rest of the civilizations turns. Then when i go back into mp.exe it tells me all of the civs are AI controlled except 1.

Sima, I am running the Complete version, and your latest link worked perfectly for me. I had no errors, and seemingly no strange side effects.

I opened up Civ3:Complete through Steam. I then began a new game through Civ-Content (I like Rhye's Terrain), made a game on a huge map, and once the beginning of my first turn happens, before doing anything else I open the mp.exe. At that point it gives me the list of all of the civilizations. If I want to play them all, I type "*" and hit enter. Then I type "0!" and hit enter. The first step enables everyone, second step disables the barbarians. After that, I return to the game, and after I build my first city the usual hotseat stuff pops up (it only displays players 1-8 but I play all 16).

what i did was the same as you up till the barbarians thing. not sure if that had an effect on it or not, but i'll try what you used. When i return to the game however, the hotseat interface doesn't appear, and it says the date is 1509. I'll have to give your method a try.

edit: i tried it and did exactly as you said and it didn't work. in mp.exe it said i was civilization 1-31 but it never affected what was going on in game. I press enter to go to the next turn to see what happens and the game has an error and closes itself.

Hm. Maybe it is related to the OS or some other incompatibility? We'll probably need Sima to investigate it.

I tested this on an XP machine, with .NET framework 2.0 installed.

that's so odd, i have XP too and .NET framework 3.5. I don't get why it isn't working i'll have to give it another try.

EDIT: I tried it again, doing everything you said you did and after typing in 0! and hitting enter i clicked on civ on the taskbar and it came up and there was no hotseat interface. What could it be!
