3CC AW PTW Monarch

that means i cant keep AI cities?

Ok I am done! Mine was a peaceful set of turns but i got a fantastic kill ratio

Spoiler :
Turn Report- didnt tamper with the science throughout (maybe a mistake)

IT-knights kill archer and horseman

Turn 1-nothing much

Turn 2- 2 knights produced, cities are on consistent knight production, a spearman and 2 archers killed

turn 3- Nothing much

Turn 4- Knight produced, 1 unit killed

IT- Knights kill two Med inf

Turn 5-Chinese build two new cities right in our reach. you know what i am going to do

IT- Knight kills gallic Swordsman (OMG?)

Knight dies to MI

Knight kills MI

Turn 6- Knights kill two MI

Turn 7-Knight kills archer, 2 knights produced

IT- i see Legion, everyone has Iron

Knight kills Knight

Turn 8- Knight kills archer

Turn 9- Knight Produced

Attacking Chengdu, destroy it with no losses

Knights kill 2 MI and archer

Knight Dies to MI

IT- knight saves itself by retreating

Turn 10- Knight kills MI

I am done! not much, razed a city, close to razing another and fantastic kill ratio of 20-2!!!

Suggested Plan- Use the G.lib till it expires then rush to Cavalry having gold in the bank and mass upgrade, if we can do it quick enough then the AI will be in trouble

Rodent-That AI city that you razed was autorazed, right?

Here's a clarification on the rules:

-3 Cities Only at the end of a turn. Since you need four cities to make an army, it is acceptable to capture a city, make a leader into an army, and then raze the city before the turn is over.

-Always War. Once you meet a civ, war is declared. There can be initial trading, but before the end of the turn, war must be declared. Peace treaties can NEVER be signed.
(Note, currently all civs are either dead or known to us.)

On the other hand, good turnset. I take it we didn't net any techs from the GLIB, right?

Everyone having iron is unlucky. Legions are damn hard to kill on anything other than grasslands&plains.

Roster:

Choxorn: UP
Tasslehoff: On Deck
Killerkid: In the hole
Rodent: Just played

Damn, I have to fight Legions and Gallic Swords?

Oh well, got it, I'll play this afternoon.

Oh, and BTW Rodent, In SG's, you're supposed to replace the "Leadername of the" with the name of the SG, and then put the Civ Name and the Date.

For example, in the game "Hawk 02- The 5 Sacred Cities", the saves are "Hawk 02 Japan, xxxx AD/BC."

In this game, we usually name them "3CCAWPersians, xxxx AD/BC" or something like that.

If you're wondering why that's done, it's because it's easier to find the save file if you have other saved games from a different game but playing as the same civ.

Well you are set up to take a celt city so you can get the army, with an army you can hold off the Legions and Gallics, China's the greatest threat, Also looks like the Chinese are getting spent, take the opportunity

Yes it was Autoraze size 1, not that i planned on keeping it.

A useful technique we can use is explorer spam to disable AI economy, then we can slowly pound our way through

lurker's comment: Rodent, what you will find with all the SG's being played right now is that they are almost all variants of the standard game. 5CC, 3CC, 1BC, AW, NOW, a regular alphabet soup of acronyms that are hard to keep track of. The rule of this one is at the end of each turn, the human civ only has 3 cities and remains at war with all AI civs. That is where the challenge lies. Just follow those basic rules, and you'll do fine. By the way, looks like you had a nice solid set, welcome to the land of SG!

I'm done. I took Cataractonium, built the army, got Invention from the GLB, and killed some guys.

Oh, and the Celts have Knights.

I'm not really happy with our position right now, we need more troops. We currently have just enough to fight off the constant enemy attacks, and need more to launch our own attack.

Pre-Turn (1050 AD):
-I use an Elite Knight that was fortified in Pasargadae to kill a Chinese Spear. (1-0)

IBT:
-Knight Defeats attacking Roman MDI. (2-0)
-Everyone gets Invention, so we’ll have it next turn.
-Pasargadae riots. If only I’d known that Knight was the only thing keeping it from doing so…

Turn 1 (1060 AD):
-Immo lose to Chinese Spear, and now our Furs colony is undefended  (2-1)
-The same spear defeats a friggen Knight!!!! WTH!!! (2-2)
-Knight kills Celtic Spear (3-2) and we capture a settler, then another knight captures a Chinese worker nearby.

IBT:
-Knight retreats when attacked by Celtic Archer, then dies when attacked by a Chinese MDI. (3-3)
-We learn Invention. I tell our sages to start researching Gunpowder.
-Persepolis: Knight->Market (we could use some happiness, and are OK on troops right now)
-Susa: Knight->Knight

Turn 2 (1070 AD):
-Knight kills the invincible Chinese Spear. (4-3)
@Cataractonium:
-Knight kills Pike
-Knight kills Spear, city captured, along with a worker (6-3)
-I build an army with the leader, then abandon Cataractonium.

IBT:
-Legion kills Knight (6-4)

Turn 3 (1080 AD):
Zzz

IBT:
-Roman MDI lose to Knight (7-4)

Turn 4 (1090 AD):
-Knight kills Celtic Spear (8-4)

IBT:
-Chinese MDI kills Knight (8-5)
-Pasargadae: Knight->Knight

Turn 5 (1100 AD):
-Army kills Legion but is taken down to 3!!! Hp. (9-5)
-Knights kill 2 Roman MDI’s and a Chinese Pike. (12-5)

IBT:
-Knight kills attacking GS (13-5)

Turn 6 (1110 AD):
-Knight kills Roman Archer (14-5)
-I see a Celtic KNIGHT.

IBT:
-Which kills one of our Knights, but not before that Knight defeats some attacking archers. (15-6)
-Susa: Knight->Knight

Turn 7 (1120 AD):
-Knight kills Roman Spear. (16-6)

IBT:
-Knight is killed by a Celtic Knight. (16-7)
-5 Chinese MDI show up.

Turn 8 (1130 AD):
-Knights kill 2 Celtic Knights (18-7)
-Knight runs from MDI

IBT:
-A Roman Archer unloaded near Susa last turn pillages something.
-Redlined Knight defeats Chinese MDI, then gets killed by another one. (19-8)
-Knight retreats
-Persepolis: Market->Knight

Turn 9 (1140 AD):
-Knight retreats from Chinese MDI
-Army kills Chinese MDI (20-8)

IBT:
-Pasargadae: Knight->Knight

Turn 10 (1150 AD):
-Army kills 2 Chinese MDI (22-8)
-Knight kills Chinese MDI (23-8)

Well, what do you guys think we should do?

lurker's comment: Get that arrmy healthy first. Once it's completely healed, send it on a pillaging mission to cut off the Horses and Iron in Celt, Roman, and Chinese lands. They will not attack a healthy 3 defense army unless it's on a choke or in a city. Once they are only building Longbows and Spears, they are meat!

Agree with what overseer said but how about destroying their eco completely with explorers? I used this tactic very successfully a couple of times, all the times i use this the AI finds its difficult to get on their feet again

If you are intrested in doing this strat i will post how to do it

I can't play today, maybe tommorow.

Tasslehoff, must be under Age of Empires mind Control! Surely no one can feel apathetic about civ 3! :scan::eek:

Rodent, since we are at war with all AIs, they'll catch our explorers (Which we can't build until Astronomy anyway) and we won't be able to do anything.

More likely Age of Mythology mind control, it got me for a while at some point in the past. A little...

Well i tried the leap from Monarch to Emperor, I am winning even after doing my most horrible expansion ever so i think i am Emperor level now!

Um, we have a big problem...

Choxorn, on your last turn did you notice that the army at 5 HP was left next to a legion, MDI, and archer? Cause they attacked the army and it went caput!

No more army. Should we even bother to go on after this setback?

Yeah, I noticed. It went down to that level killing 2 Chinese Medieval Infantry (seriously, WTH, they are not that strong)

Let's continue, we aren't finished yet!

Certainly, Make the Chinese pay for our glorious army

lurker's comment: Must protect army, must protect army. This is your new mantra. Armies are too valuable to leave vulnerable. Losing an army when you have 5 more, ehhh not so bad. Losing your only army in a 3CC, ouch bigtime! You still have a chance in this, but it has somewhat diminished. Unfortunately, you are seeing knights, and even muskets aren't immune from them. You might want to assemble a pillaging group to go after their Iron, consisting of multiple defenders and a couple horses. If you are too swamped for that now, you need to assemble a kill-zone to lure your enemies in and wipe them out. Proactive defense is fine, but your best troops are being exposed and killed. You might want to pull back your horns, retrench a bit, and then go on the offensive later. Put a pike on that mountain for one thing. That forest needs chopped too, as it provides cover for AI troops. Anyway, keep at it, it's not hopeless. I opened the save and took a look, I think as dire as things look, it's fixable. First off, your troop levels are anemic. Stop building knights for about 6-10 turns and build cheaper, faster Immortals and a few pikes, maybe 6 immos and 2 pikes. In fact Pasargadae maybe should only be building disposable immmos and pikes for the meat grinder. If they are exposed and get killed, there are more on the way. Meanwhile, Persepolis and Susa can build your strike force up. I'd say get those workers out of hibernation and get that mountain roaded and forted with a pike or 2.

I can't get to this until tommorow night, so if anyone can play before then, go ahead.

Sorry guys, I need a skip. Then army will die on the first interturn.
