5CC Regent Training Game

Suggestion: Get some workers to build a long road or 2 in neutral territory so you can get to the Arabs faster, and station a few pikes along the road so they have to get past them to get to the "Empire".

For outposts- It's probably better to use the native workers to build outposts (they cost unit support, we want as few as possible). If possible, build more natives to replace the standing units. Again, unit support is important. Also, make sure the colonies stay protected.

When we've got the outposts, use surplus workers to start building roads towards the arabs like choxorn suggested. 12 swords can do a lot of damage, but can't destroy the Arabs completely. A road helped the reinforcements.

Did you use valuable slaves to build outposts? Thats something that you should never do with tight unit support, slaves cost zero support, while each native worker costs 1gpt if you are over the support limit. Native workers are cheap and easy to build, and if you build one with the granary box full, you don't even lose that population point. I guess spilt milk, but something to be considered. In my solo games, I pay something like 100 g for slaves, and it is not a rip-off, it's a good investment. I guess it's time for a roster update, so the secretary of the roster should post one. Going by the last roster I saw, I'm up, this can be my "got it" post, I will play tomorrow night if the save works.

Can i still join the game?
I'm new here but i played the game for 2 or more years now.
Still, i play on my own (more like a civ stuck on a 9x9 island)
I've been lurking for a while and i think succession games are fun (even though i haven't played one yet.)
So, um. Can i still play? :)

I'm fine if steel plays. Welcome to CFC-:band: [party]

Overseer and Tasslehoff: I didn't know about the slave support-my bad
The good news is that I only used one slave, so you can use all other regular workers. As choxorn said though, we might need them for a road.

Roster:

Killerkid: Just played
The Overseer: UP
Hawk: On Deck
Steel if he joins: Getting Ready
Tasslehoff: Taking a nap. ;)

lurker's comment: On this note:
I didn't know about the slave support
Anything enslaved is free of charge, as far as unit support goes. Slave workers perform their tasks half as fast as regulars, but if you can get enough of them, that won't make any difference. Don't be afraid to keep dozens of them around, hundreds if you can get your hands on that many.

I have finished my turn-set. I have good news and bad. Good news, we have a great leader, which I would like to use for hurrying Sistine Chapel, which will double the effect of our Cathedrals, which I am building in 3 of our cities, Cathedrals have more bang for the buck than Colosseums. Bad news, the Arabs are sending a large wave our way, and have weakened our stack tremendously by picking them off. Worse news, the outposts are not working, barb villages keep popping up anyway, one even appeared under an outpost! Here is my turn-log:

Personally, I think something that gives a set number of happiness, such as JS Bach's, is better for a 5CCC than something that gives per city. With only five cities, a per-city effect is much more limited, and thus weaker than it is in a normal game.

Anyway, before Hawk plays, we need to find somebody who knows a bit more about the game to help us with the barb problems- I thought the outposts would help :'( .

Did that barb pop up IN YOUR LINE OF SIGHT???

@Steel: Welcome to CFC!

@Tasslehoff: "Choxorn: cursing his stupid CPU, and giving us hints.
"

I'm also cursing my lack of time (mostly due to spending too much on CFC or other things, but still), my mom needing the computer for work too much, and my lack of money. If only I had a bit of money, I'd buy a new (better) computer. And an Xbox 360, a PS3, and some other cool stuff if I had enough. Sigh.

lurker's comment: MGLs can't rush Great Wonders.

As for the barbs, you need a military unit within sight of a square to prevent barbs from appearing.

I also note that you seem to be building a lot of Pikes. I'd cut back on those; they'll just be a drain on your economy if you stay properly on the offensive vs. the Arabs. :)

Oh, bother. I don't think we have the unit support to keep units watching the area all the time, which means we need an alternative situation.

Do the uprising only happen when the encampments are left alone for a while?
If so, we can keep some fast units around to attack as soon as the camps pop up, before the massive uprisings happen, since our outposts tell us as soon as they're there.

lurker's comment: If you don't have enough units to keep an eye on the area, do you have enough to farm them? What are barbs set at?

Thanks for the welcome guys :)
Anyway, um, i have all the civ packs. Vanilla, PTW and conquests.
I play conquests more coz its the latest expansion (right?).
But i think ptw and conquests doesn't have that much different.
I can only be OL once a day but many times @ weekends (still a hs student)

And i'm also new to 5cc.
Btw. what are you planning guys?
As far as i can understand. You want to finish off the barbs and end on the threat then focus on Abu?
Btw. I'm still at Regent >.<
And i learned many things just by lurking ^.^
CFC's great.:)

lurker's comment: If you don't have enough units to keep an eye on the area, do you have enough to farm them? What are barbs set at?

What do you mean, farm them? Barbs are almost definitely on raging, judging by the 3+ massive uprisings that just occurred.

We've eliminated the main barb threat. Our problem right now is making sure the barbs stay unthreatening.

the "Massive uprisings" happen when 2 civs cross eras. Barb camps after that have fewer units in them. If you just had massive uprisings, you should be fine for some time.

For farming, just go send units to kill the barbs after they are created - get more up to elite that way ;)

I got the save, but probably won't be able to play until Thursday.
So, should I use the GL to speed until Sistine, or wait until JS Bach's?
Or, should I use it for a Knight army?
