A Babylon 5 Mod for the Final Frontier Mod

Hi all, i managed to get a little bit of work done on the mod but nothing that is worth posting and having a party about :( as i was struck down with the flu.
I'm trying to find the time to add in all the lovely new ships Premier has been churning out but every time i sit down and start to do something i have to stop and do something else.
 
Hi all!, no new models this time, RL has kept me busy lately, hopefully next weekend I'll resume shipbuilding, for now, whatever little free time I've had I devoted it to playtesting the mines warfare mod, in my last game, a big map with 12 civs (including me) the game became almost unplayable due to the time required when a turn ended... I cannot say the mines mod did this, I'll have to benchamark it against an unmodded game, will let you know my findings.

Talking a little more on the mines mechanics, I belive that standard mines should be something like the PDS but enhanced for space combat rather than orbital (system) combat. What I relly find usefull of the mines mod is the nuclear mine; I haven't taked a look into that mod's code, but eventually I will :mischief:.
 
I don't think the issue is related to the Mines Warfare mod. IIRC FF handles all buildings through python in an array causing a massive slow down. FF+ fixes that issue. Although apparently the lag due to buildings can be reduced by restarting the game.

RL is becoming stable, so I'll be resuming work on the mod, I just noticed I haven't released the latest ships, so I'll release them in the next days.

On the mines mod I was testing, the late game without the mod didn't took as long as the mines one on changing turns, it was a big map, however when I tested that mod in a standard sized map I didn't noticed any time issue. Has anyone played the Mines warfare mod?

What are your impressions on it?, did you experieced lag while changing turns?

On the mines, I was thinking that to make mines more valuable we could add a ranged bombardment feature to the conventional mines but with a range of 1. The bombardment should be relatively weak, but when fighting the mine itself its strenght should be decent.

Geez, I'm having a hard time finding units to use this awsome art. As if is has to be repeated again, nice unit. Very unique.
 
That would be one of the alien ships that attacked B5 in the episode 'A view from the gallery' wouldn't it?

Here is the EA Sagittarius Class Missile Cruiser, this is my proposal for the first combat vessel the EA has access to, it makes sense to use this, since its weapons are all physical; its main weapons should be missiles, and has a main railgun to be used for close combat and a few smaller railguns for point defense.

In real life missiles do exist, and there are prototype railguns, so it makes sense for early vessels to feature this kind of weaponry... well there are also prototype lasers but I understand railguns will become available way sooner than lasers. :scared: ... :D

Hello all,

Just a quickie to let you know I'm currently working on the Earth Alliance Avenger Class Carrier, after that I'll make the EA Aries Starfury; so far that will be the last EA ship to be made, and will proceed to make the rest of the major powers ships, then I'll shift towards finishing the brakiri and in parallel start with the Dilgar.

I also bring two other questions: will we use the same model for every race on the construction ship? and the colony ship?.

If not I propose the Construction Fury and the Explorer Class (Cortez) for construction and colony ships respectively.

I personaly would use the same model for all of the construction/colony ships. Mainly because I prefer my shiny new unit art to be on warships. However if you think the art is really cool, go for it.

I have finished the Earth Alliance Avenger Class Carrier, it is an early carrier for the EA, it uses the FF Destroyer animation and has 1125 triangles, it could have less but texturing was easier this way :p.
