Inspired by chatter about X-Bows in a thread, i started this game ;)
It's some time since i last did a Choko rush.
Got interrupted by RL, and not sure when i will play play this one, but what i saw so far is an interesting start. Maybe some of our Deitys (and Challengers) are in the mood ~~

Settings: Deity normal speed, Pangea, no huts/events, Random Personalities

Hi Mylene!

Very interessted in this game, as it includes Deity with a non HC non Darius Leader. Your starting Location looks horrible for me, where is the gold, where the marble/stone, where's everything? :D

Gonna follow the thread closely and give feedback if I notice something, till then

Thanks, i have some more EQ grind to do first..exp is very slow *sigh*.
Then i plan to finish Dirk's Justi game, after that probably the Chinese ~~

It's one of those maps that striked me as balanced starting land, not OPed but good to work with, i def. want to play this one out.

I'll try to play this one if heroes VI and SGotM doesn't take all my time up :)

*edit*

Spoiler :
And I'd settle same place, mine sheep to skip AH more than likely

remarkably balanced map with many decent but not overpowered spots for expansion leaving us many different paths to choose from. However it's a little easier than usual because
Spoiler :
We get a lot of space to peacefully expand, and it's pretty easy to spawnbust our entire region with 4 warriors.

Ok I guess I'll break the ice...

Spoiler :

This is my second attempt at this map. First time I got unlucky with the barbs and it slowed me down too much so I restarted.

I settled the plains hill that the warrior was on. I made the decision to go for the wheel first, then BW>pottery>writing>aesthetics. I wanted to get the early settler out and hook up the copper ASAP. Going the wheel first lets me save a couple of turns early on through worker micro. After aesthetics plus a bunch of trades, I went straight for MC while farming up 2 great scientists. My idea is to initially attack with ChoKus then add some trebs once I am able to bulb engineering.

Sry, but I don't get this.

Why is everybody playing this map and not just Mylene? And more interessting, why are you spoilering about the map when everyone can read it and by that take out the most of the challenge? How can Mylene say I'm not playing Deity as I play Marathon when this is obviously even easier, as it's no first time playthrough? What are the rules for this game/challenge/story?

you got the wrong idea there @Sera...
i posted this map just cos i thought it is a good one, after i had to stop playing.
Iam busy atm and not sure when i will play this, it's not a challenge or anything like that.
Everyone can post spoilers, play games...;)

Hmm, I think you are assuming this is more formal than it is. Simply a friendly game for deity and aspiring deity players (such as myself) to play and compare. Only rule is not to spoil the map for anyone who doesn't want it spoiled.

Ok, think I got it now. So if I find a good map for example after having lost it (happens often as I'm trying to compete for score / earliest finish date, so I play with a lot a risk) I should post it so that other players can play it just for fun or for learning issues?

As to PeteJ:

It seems as if Joao is the only one who doesn't have Aesthetics, why don't you trade it for Monarchy?

@petej:
Spoiler :
weird, you have portugal in the east, but in my game i had gilgamesh, with napoleon grabbing a barb city over there as well.

Indeed. I just picked up math this turn and will use both of those to trade for monarchy next turn.

I hope this random personalities thing doesn't catch on. The personalities are one of my favorite parts of the game. :(

I played until 800AD last night. Managed to vasall France and the Khmer with Chokos. Will move on to Gilgamesh with knights (spent all my money researching Guilds), who is battling Friedrich and Jao at the moment. If I manage to vasall him before Portugal does, the game looks good. Jao is pretty strong (14 cities) and has the tech lead. My cities are whipped down and I only have a balanced economy if I turn the tech-slider to zero.

I will upload Save & Screenies later (they are on my windows partition and I'm using Linux most of the time...).

To 1ad:

Spoiler :

Not much to say here. Since my last post I finished some last minute infrastructure then started pumping out Chokos. I took it easy on the whip thus far because a lot of my cities are somewhat food-poor and I wanted to get to engineer as quickly as possible. I've already made the mistake of not building enough workers and it shows. I was kind of scrambling to get the chops/roads/mines I needed. Anyway its 1ad and I have a stack of 8 chokos ready to take a city from jao next turn. Not the best attack date but I still think I am in good shape here.
