A New Dawn Beta Builds

I have Win 7 Pro 64bit and didn't have any problems with the installer, and I have the Civ IV Complete version from 2K Games.

:)

That is absolutely correct, its just notifying you that what was installed, just delete that and you should have no further problems, i hope.:p

Right. I believe my installer even tells you that you can close the WoC window. ;)

I'm having a problem with Civic-Specific buildings. I can build them as soon as I enable the tech, no matter what civics I have. I.e. I can build the Caravan Post if I research Trade, even if I'm in Slavery, and I can build the Draft Office even if I haven't converted to Conscription yet. It doesn't occur for the Base-RoM buildings (Slave Market, Agora, etc.), so I think something is messed up with the module. This was happening in Beta7, but I didn't have time to post before you released Beta8. It still seems to be happening with Beta8 (I only tested by adding techs in WB, rather than playing the game out).

On a side note, how hard would it be to add what buildings go with which civic in the Sevopedia? It's hard to dig through the long list of buildings to find the civic-specific ones.

Update: Added Screenshot

Yeah! A Real Bug!
After investigating, this is actually a really old bug, it' even in 1.55, but since no one ever used modular buildings to edit other modular buildings, it was never noticed.:(

Fixing it was easy though.

I'll post an update for Beta9 with my Dark Age tweaks, this fix, and the corrected game speeds in a few hours.

Wait, what? The WoC installer just merges audio, I believe that's a standard completion report from it. Does the game work okay?

well, when I run the installer, enter the path, next. What happens next is the green bar shoots across in about a second, file installation complete, and a little pop up screen says install error: An error has occured during installation.

I hit ok woc screen pops on with just 8 lines, and it closes no problem. I try to close the beta8 setup and I get an application error message. I have to use the task manager to close the setup.

Nothing gets installed at all. Hmm.

Guess I'll wait and see what beta9 brings.

UAC issues? Bad Download? :(

You know numerology? It is a study of numbers' magical powers.

Well, if you makes an official release after beta9, you will have a very fruitful modpack :D.

Just kidding of course!:p

:goodjob:

One thing i have noticed with 8, a huge slowdown between turns, i wonder if thats because of Blue Marble?

How do you turn it off, once its loaded?

Its taking around 45 seconds PER turn now:( (or longer), with only 20 civs in Medieval era, its used to be only 15 secs or less:)? I am on Quick, if i wasn't DANG, it'll take forever otherwise:(?

I like the terrain and stuff, looks just like NWA now.

Wow! A lot can happen in one night! I am still on Beta6.:crazyeye:
I think you should make sure that Dark Ages are not to harsh.

is there a reason why archers cannot upgrade to English long bowmen?

Blue Marble is tricky to turn off, once it's installed. The easiest way is to delete the Art folder and replace it with a clean RoM 2.81 art folder.

Yes, it is probably slowing your game down, try lowering your graphic settings. My game stuttered with Blue Marble until I lower AA down to x4. ;)

Okay, Beta9 is out. Not a lot new.

New Features:

~30 Turn grace period after Golden Age, where no Dark Ages will occur (scales for gamespeed).

BugFixes:

Fixes Civic Buildings
Updated Marathon Gamespeed
Fixed bug where civilization health was not being saved

Outstanding Bugs:

Wonder Movies are still not working - Need to investigate more.

OK, i have mine set at 16,, but i dont think its from Blue Marble, cause it looks like only the terrain has been added, and i had that already in NWA. Thats ok, i will keep the terrain, i like it better this ways anyways, looks more realistic.

Here is a missing text key. It has been missing since you made the seafaring modmod.:mischief:

Look in your Rise of Mankind/Assets/Modules/Afforess/Ice Breaker folder. Open the gametext file. The missing TXT_KEY is in there. I don't have that txt key missing in my game, albeit this is beta9 now, but I haven't touched Ice Breaking in ages.

:wallbash: Of course, I don't use the Ice Breaker mod.
