I was thinking European liberal, but I am so pro-American. There is just not winning

You are a Centrist who leans to the Libertarian Right and supports Old Right foreign policy. Although that doesn't really make you centrist anymore. Face it, you are a Libertarian Capitalist. :p

I would have said "green libertarian," but in its absence, cast a ballot for the hardcore with Milton and the boys.

I think you're being generous by putting the word libertarian alongside Noam Chomsky, however, even in context. "Colouring book radical" or "children's socialism with a linguistic face" would have been more apt.

Everybody knows that people in US who are domestically liberal but republicans in
foreign affairs are just social democrats who are afraid of the title because of the commies.

(Guess what I voted for? ;))

Any guesses as to where my vote went?;)

Answer = Fascist, Nazi, Darkshadist. :D ;)

European Liberal, although I sometimes agree with the social democrats as well (eg foreign policy, national defense, ...)

after reading that thread that monk posted i will post my political view.
economics:FAIR market not free.fair is good for both countrys "free"is only good for rich and powerful countrys
drugs:legalise it but dont legalise HARD drugs
army:no army we are all friends:)(well in thoery in real world its just a little army who cannot do sh!t)
abortion:look at the abortion thread and you will know my point
immegration:improve the countries of the immegrants;result:no more immegrants
gun control:no guns for normal poeple only for army and police
so im a commie BUT i think about the enviroment

Isn't it pointless to label ourselves in political terms. Think about it. Who here has keep the exact same beliefs throughout their life, no matter how short. Also there are very few people who fall neatly into a single category.

"Under the age of 30 a conservative is a person without a heart. Over the age of 30 a liberal is someone without a brain".

I'd have to go along with the left leaning centrist for you as well. The centrist part is for the economics and the pro-American attitude, the left is for your social values.

I am a right leaning centrist. You and I seem pretty close even though we fall on opposite sides of the party lines.

If I have got you figured at all correctly, you agree with a lot of your party's social aspects, but disagree on some of the economic and foriegn aspects. For me, it is the opposite. I like my party's foriegn and economics and dislike much of its social side.

Perhaps we need to form our own party! ;)

European Conservative.
Actually I feel like I'm between Euro and American Conservative.
I put Euro though because I do feel that some things need to be regulated more than the Republicans in the US feel.
:goodjob: monk on the poll. First political poll that could get a wide participation.

edit : I guess I should have been right - centrist. I didn't read past the utopian-commie one because I thought that the rest were all "wierd" ones.

I'm all over the board politically.

Traditionally I've been involved with left-of-center parties so I voted "Social Democrat". I believe democracy offers the most for its adherants, and a free market economy provides the most widespread prosperity. However, being a fixed-income analyst I am all too aware of the need for governments to regulate relationships throughout markets and throughout society. It is very arguable what kind of balance a government must maintain, and I don't think there is an absolute answer on that that covers all countries at all times.

My basic approach to life is that there are few automatic answers, that you just have to use your brain for each situation you find yourself in. Neither the left nor the right have magical solutions that solve everything, though there are some partisans who believe so.

What about Hillary Clinton, Paul Wellstone and Russ Feingold?

As far as senators go, they are probably the most liberal along with Kennedy. I agree with most of their views.

My political journey so far is socialist --> social democrat --> cynical anarchist --> mixture bewteen environmentalist and european liberal --> cynic who is utterly convinced that rampant pollution and the madness of mankind will eventually be the end of us. But until then I might as well carve out a decent life for myself and the disintegration process will surely be very interesting to watch. :)

Voted green, btw. I have no idea who that Nader guy is (some American politician I guess) and can´t say if I share his opinions, but I do vote for the environmentalists here.

Try this for info on the American Greens. I don't know of any prominent European Greens, which is why I used Nader(Green Presidential candidate) as an example.

Thanks for the link Monk! :)

Judging by how many links you had to click to find their platform, they don´t want anyone to read it. :D Well, I browsed it and they seem to be similar to European green parties. I agree with enough of their platform to support them.

We have another "Centrist, Right leaning" here.

Altough I vote somewhere between euro-liberals (free market) and Conservative.
