A Song of Ice and Fire

Good luck with the Re-emergence of this Mod. So has anyone seen or talked with ljtheem or exraingram? It seems they lost interest and just dropped the project. :(

If that is the case then, best of luck getting going:pat:

Just found this mod. Great concept but looks like its development has lost a bit of momentum. I can't find any of the leader artworks or new techs in the version of the mod available through civ 5's mods page. Are they still in development or unavailable? The Rob Stark and Cersie Lannister artworks you showed here look pretty impressive I'd love to be able to try them out.

Hey guys!

I discovered this page about 2 months ago, while I was reading the books, but I had to leave due to potential spoilers. It actually helped give me drive to keep reading knowing that when I finished I could come here. Civ is my favorite game series ever (I've been playing since Civ II), and I love ASOIAF, so this is a natural fit. I finally finished reading the series last night, so I figured I'd jump back on here.

I've done minimal modding over the years with different Civ games, but nothing too big. However, I'd really be happy to help with this! I'm fairly busy (grad school blows sometimes), so I don't think I can take the lead at organizing, but I'm happy to be on the small council to whomever does, if we can get this to take off again. I have spent a lot of time thinking about this and have some good ideas.

The map pack "The Lands of Ice and Fire" came out in stores yesterday. We could use that as a template to expand the map since it includes a map of "the known world," from Westeros to Asshai to the northern coast of Sothoryos.

Is there a current version of the mod available anywhere? I'd love to give it a good run-through and see where it's at.

I'm gonna PM the people who were spearheading this project before to try and re-spark some interest. It seems to me that interest has waxed and waned, but always been present on some level. A good focused and organized effort could really turn out a great product.

For those who are interested in some more gameplay ideas, here is my general theory: The game should work as a stand-alone where you can play from the dawn of time onward (to some stopping point, like the industrial revolution or something), but this can then be used as a template to focus on specific scenario-style settings representing different time-periods. If we can get the base-level background details down, then adapting it into different scenarios (year 0, 298, etc.) would be much less effort (Personally, the scenario I'd most like to see is 298/299, the start of the War of the Five Kings).

As for techs/units/buildings/wonders... I like the idea of adding more of all of these. When I play Civ (vanilla), I always play through the middle ages by looking forward too much- getting techs just to reach the Renaissance first. So this is really my least experienced part in terms of strategy. That being said, I do have a lot of good ideas.

I love the techs/units/buildings that have already been added. Good work, guys!

As for wonders, I think we should use the 9 wonders from the books, although not all are named. Lomas Longstrider gives them in his book "Wonders Made by Man" ( http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Wonders_Made_by_Man ) (his first describes the 7 natural wonders- also something to consider). The Valyrian Roads are known to be the 4th wonder, and the Triple Walls of Qarth, the Titan of Braavos, and The Wall are also confirmed as wonders. In ADWD it is mentioned that Lomas visited the Great Pyramid of Ghis, which makes it sound like a wonder too. So that's 5. We can speculate about the rest on here (Great Sept of Baelor, the Hightower, the Citadel, Harrenhall, the House of Black and White, etc.). It would also be nice to have other "unique buildings" that can only be built once, but aren't necessarily "wonders" in the same sense.

So, any interest? I'll send some PMs. And feel free to PM me, although shooting me an email would get a quicker response- it's listed in my profile. Let's do this!

A full mod to be able to play a Civ V version of GoT would be great. As it stands right now, I seem to only be able to find a map and the civs without any wonders or unique techs.
