A Team PBEM?

Sorry I was a bit slower today. Friday's are a very busy day for me so I might be slower then.

Spoiler :

Ok here is the civic screen:

The Summer Palace: Finished building a spearman, starting work on a worker to maximise expansion speed.
The Thrown Room: still working on the piramids.
X-Bad seed is now working on a masked settler (pop will drop by 1 instead of 2 when built) i don't believe it is in anyones f-11 screen but i must be careful this early in the game. The settler it is working on will head up to the jucy spot my imortal found (i showed you it last turn). At this stage of the game corruption will be at its lowest (corruption is determined by a combination of distance to cap and cities nearer to cap then it is). So hopefully i will be able to get a courthouse up fairly soon. It is a risk, but so was going to war with 4 units. Its primary purpose is a land grabber, scince i am now convinced the continents are joined.
X-Wummie Turn: building a spearman whilst its pop increases.

Spoiler :
-1500 (Turn 60) – Merrilee completes worker, starts worker. Azzaman is forcing my hand with the northern goody hut – I was planning on saving it for a settler to claim the furs and pop the hut, but he moved next to it, so I will pop it this turn. I get barbs.

My vitals:

11 towns covering 118 tiles (first in land area)
21 total citizens (50% of world population – 1st, azza has 19% (8 citizens), so that leaves 31% for Mel (13 citizens))
1 settler
16 workers (finally getting there!)
2 curraghs
1 regular spear
4 regular warriors
1 veteran warrior
1 veteran chariot (average compared to azzaman).

Currently building:

1 Forbidden Palace
5 barracks
1 settler
2 workers
2 chariots

Up Warrior Code, Philosophy, and Polytheism on azzaman.

On the IBT, my warrior kills a barb, and azzaman’s kills one – azzaman will probably think I popped a tech since the barbs are dead.

A couple pics:

I’ve gotta like the F11 screen, but I’m getting frustrated with the lack of Mel sighting – I’ve uncovered a good part of the other coast.

It was nice to play a game that didn't have bugs (kinda :mischief: ) after trying to get Empire at War to work for an hour

Spoiler :

Time to revisit the f-11 screen. As you can see memphis is doing well:

I'm doing fairly average on the stats which is good considering that the war slowed my growth.

Spoiler :
-1475 – azza learned Warrior Code – popped? I found another source of iron – azza will get that one. My curragh spots a light green border!!!! No contact this turn, but next turn there should be.

gpd

Alas, I have been taken for a fool

Spoiler :

So much for that continent connection. Oh well, one never knows until one has done enough exploring.

Spoiler :
-1450 – Geriatica produces chariot, starts chariot. Rebedia produces barracks, starts worker. Mel is not on my diplo screen pre-move so his comment about being a fool doesn’t apply to anything he learned by meeting me. Well, time to meet Mel. I see the town of X-Wormie Turn – it’s a nice canal town guarded by an immortal.

Holy crap, Mel is backwards! I am up Pottery, the Wheel, Warrior Code, Ceremonial Burial (and Mysticism and Polytheism), and Mathematics. He has Philosophy – maybe that’s what his “fool” comment was about – he wanted the free tech. He is up Code of Laws however – looks like he went for the Republic slingshot. He is building the Pyramids in The Thrown (a size 5 town with no growth). My military is weak compared to his.

GPS, pretty boring turn really

Spoiler :

Recieved via email:
Hail Meleager, Lord of the Western Continent!

As you will see when you receive the save, my rowboat has finally located
your great civilization. It is located off the southwestern coast of your
town of X-Wurmie Turn.

Tales of your warrior's exploits have reached us, but it looks as if your
scientists have not been working as hard as your military. Let me know if
you think there are any mutually beneficial trades available.

Chamnix

Screenshots (3 this time):

Chamnix met me that same turn I finished my first boat.

Upon checking the Diplomacy Screen it seems that my science wasn't as far behind as he thought. Code of Laws is good too. It is required to get republic, so he will want it.

As you can see from the stats I am generally behind in everything. That is too be expected at this stage. Fortunately, I am hoping that my growth rate will take a exponential line (with my own continent), so hopefully in a hundred turns I will be a head of him.

My Reply:
Hail Chamnix, Lord of Lands unseen and unknown.

I am confident that our peoples can come to a mutually beneficial agreement. It seems our scientists are not as lacking as you think. We have discovered the technology of Code of Laws. Perhaps you would be willing to tell us in which areas of science we are lacking, and I shall make sure the workers in that department receive 50 lashes each.

Spoiler :
-1425 Salamanca produces settler, starts settler. Phlobodia completes barracks, starts chariot. New settler heads toward the furs and the iron. I offer Mel Ceremonial Burial, Warrior Code, and The Wheel for Code of Laws.

Evil computer restarting just as I was about to hit post [pissed]

Spoiler :

This will be quick because of my computer... (no screenshot)

Your offer is intriguing, however, my advisors have informed me that my Military has evolved enough for there to be
nothing left to use it for. My people are interested in other paths. Our school teachers in particular are disappointed
that they can teach neither literature nor maths.

Ah, Code of Laws is intriguing to me as my people have been a rather unruly
lot and could use some order. I would be willing to trade several cheap
techs for that - shall we say Ceremonial Burial, Warrior Code and The Wheel
for Code of Laws?

Spoiler :
-1400 Mel wants Math or Lit – OK, I’ll offer Math for Code of Laws. Town of Wheaties founded by the wheat (duh!), starts a worker of course.

Persia celebrates by commissioning this video game:

I have played, but the email is having some temporary problems that should fix it self soon.

In any case, here is a spoiler:

Spoiler :

Upon opening the save this appeared:

Along with this email:
I understand - unfortunately I cannot help you our with Literature. My
people created an Alphabet, learned to Write, but then never found any other
use for this particular skill - books would be interesting, but for now that
art remains a mystery to my people as well.

However, I am pleased to report that Mathematics in "on the table" so to
speak.

I added code of laws to the deal and accepted. When chamnix receives the save he will find this message:

Chamnix, perhaps you would like to attend a feast held in your honour. For my advisors have suggested that I accept your proposal.

Spoiler :
-1375 – Mel accepted Math for Code of Laws – my tech lead increases… Whoopie! completes chariot, starts chariot. Azza’s not doing a very good job micromanaging – my curragh sees Heliopolis in a state of disorder.

:bump: Just checking azza hasn't already sent this.
