That's about right yes, it always was going to be a difficult take off, even for the excellent Storch, but with 3 people, two of which were not exactly light, it's a miracle it managed it at all
It looks like a Bolton Paul Defiant IIRC they served in the RAF at the time of the Battle of Britain, maybe as night fighters (I forget exactly). I believe their major fault was to only have an arnament in the rear turret which could not swivel to face the front. Once the Germans caught on it became hopelessly easy to shoot down.
It wasn't too bad for the job it was intended for, which was attacking bombers, but the Luftwaffe fighters quickly mastered it and it served most of it's time as a night fighter. It certainly wasn't as bad as say, the Fairey Battle.
Whittman drove in Normandy a Tiger and was killed at Cintheaux (near Caen) when (depending on who you believe) either a group of firefly tanks from 'A' Squadron of the Northants Yeomonary blew the hell out of his tank and 2 others, or his tank was hit by a rocket attack from the air.
As a hint, it (Tiger 222) is famous because it features in almost every book on German heavy armour in battle with a photograph of it carrying German Paratroopers on it.
