Aabra02: Hammy Builds a House

Correct, and my vote goes for the 2 chop gran after warrior-worker.

FWIW, considering my undeniably vast experience with xCC games :sarcasm:, I'd say build the granary, then perhaps the Colossus. The Colossus seems pretty cheap for the gold and culture that we'll get. I think we'll need the granary's increased growth to avoid taking forever and a day to complete the Colossus. As for temples, I'm just not sure. If we want an early temple, it seems like it'd be helpful to have it before the Colossus just to help with happiness issues while that's being built.

I'm in agreement with Aabraxan, but wonder if taking the time to build a temple would prevent us from getting the Colossus.

My experience with xCC challenges is about equally as vast as his. :p

Why whip and have an unhappy when we have chops available? warrior-worker-Granary-Temple-MP-Colossus sounds reasonable to me.

Okay... if we peel a worker after the warrior, we'll have the option to do 3 forest chops into the Granary. Though we won't have any forests left to chop, it might get that Granary project moving along most ricky-tick.

Are there any dissenting votes on the granary? Should I conserve one forest for a temple chop, or kick the granary into high gear?

Chop away, it'll fit perfect with the 50 shields we'd have had in 2510BC.

By all means send Bambi into exile and destroy Thumper's warren, just so you can build a corn crib :)

Pre-flight check: Working the lake for the next 2 turns will put a couple more shillings into the treasury without slowing the warrior build down.

Turn 1/2950: Skullsplitter heads west, Bonecrusher North. One worker starts choppin'.

IBT - Babylon Warrior>Worker

Turn 2/2900: Celts have a couple of workers for sale.. but no tech. We can't really afford the workers...so I pass.

Turn 3/2850: Charlie (New Warrior) will do some limited scouting while the city is still small.

IBT - Babylon Worker>Granary

Turn 4/2800 Another worker starts chopping, the third moves to a forest tile. Babylon is Pop3, Granary in 15.

IBT - one forest chop comes in, Arabs learn Warrior Code.

Turn 5/2750 Good news, the forest chop revealed a BG!

Skullsplitter spots some wines on the other side of the mountains... could be lots of land over there. Charlie has spotted what looks like a desert and some plains opening up to the east. Bonecrusher has found what appears to be land's end to the NE of the Arabian border.

Turn 6/2710 I start bringing Bonecrusher and Charlie homeward, we'll need the MPs, and Bonecrusher can check out the jungles on his way back.

IBT - A barb pokes his head out of the fog near Skullsplitter's path.

Turn 7/2670 Skullsplitter tacks away from the barb, other warriors homeward.

IBT - Celts learn Warrior Code

Turn 8/2630 We've got 36 shields in the bin towards the Granary. Nobody will sell Warrior Code. Babylon will grow in a turn.

IBT - the third Forest Chop comes in.

Turn 9/2590 Charlie comes into town to pull MP duty. We're at size 4 producing 5spt.

IBT - not much.

Turn 10/2550 - I decide to work the lake for a shilling to net an extra gold. Granary due IBT.

Next better player will need to MM the citizen off the lake to get us back to 5spt.

We might want to think about a (dare I say it?) Spearman to serve as a MP while we work on the Colossus. That should be enough to keep Brennus and Abu from going after us with a couple of spare warriors.

Here's a look at Skullsplitter's westward scouting. There appears to be a lot of room over there. And another lux. (that's 1bpt Whomp. See, it is you. :p )

Here's >>>>> The Save <<<<<

Nice, nice and vino too.

I'd be shocked if we needed a spear. Do you really think it's necessary?

Colossus is a long time, so I'm not a fan but I wouldn't object to a spear.

I'd be shocked if we needed one too, but I'd rather delay the start of the Colossus by 4 turns than dump 150 shields into a spear if someone gets froggy.

One spear on a hilltop should be enough to deter or hold off the casual incursion... not that Arabia or Celts would send a token force of 2-4 warriors/archers against a fledgeling capitol in the early game....

Got it. I haven't taken a look at the save yet. We've had 3 "next" builds proposed...a temple, a spear and The Colossus. While I'm off studying the save and coming up with more questions to ask, maybe you guys can decide what we want to build next. :p

Well I suppose we'd be more comfortable having a spear without knowing where the Celts are located. They must be close with that early contact. Arabs I'm not worried about. They're so far away.

Ok, after looking at the save, I have some questions/comments...

Our military advisor says there are barbs nearby and only 1 lone warrior to protect our 3 workers. That makes me inclined to build the spear next.

After the spear, temple or Colossus?

Any particular next improvements beyond more mines and roads?

I'd assume the western scout continues looking for the Celts.

lurker's comment: spend the turns on the spear, gain peace of mind. then you can focus on what to really work on

@bede, you're starting to worry me with these
Bambi into exile and destroy Thumper's warren, just so you can build a corn crib
imagineer references.

I really need to know if you want a temple or Colossus after the spear build. If I don't get this played tonight, I may be unavailable for a few days. :(

Temple is good, cheap happy gas (OMG, I said temple is good...). It'll pay its own maintenance in happy juice. For it after the spear. Should we decide to grab a 20K in the end, it will also have helped a lot.

lurker's comment: my two cents (scout and bede are ducking and covering) is that the consensus above was play this as OCC until whenever is big bronze guy. xpost with b. he's much more smarter with regards to cipherin' and such.
