Active units 'sleep'...

Description of problem:

In an epic (unmodded) game some of my workers stay on the spot, even at the end of the turn. And no, they're not automated. What I mean is this, I have a large group of workers on a clear-jungle, clear-wetlands trip. Some of them I had to manually activate, eventhough they were active. I know it sounds a bit abstract, but I included a screenshot and a savegame.

Active_is_not_active.jpg

Steps to reproduce

Load this savegame.

Observed result

You'll notice an active crusader, when you hit wait, you'll notice that's 'supposedly' the only active unit. Now take a closer look at the 4 workers on the hill Northwest of Medina. They are not automated, not fortified, not on sentry and yet the game doesn't show it to me

Expected result

The game should show me all my active units that haven't moved yet.

I downloaded and tried it -- weird! Could this be some sort of sentry function or something else (I don't use sentry)? Certainly looks like a bug to my eye -- even playing through a turn the units never enter the "rotation" of active units -- but if you manually select them they are available with full movement points.

Hi,

it is strange, isn't it? I never use the sentry command, they were just active units that dropped out of the rotation. IMHO this definitely has BUG written all over it.

I have seen similar results. In my games, it occcurred most of the time asi the result of a GOTO order: either a unit on a GOTO passing next to them, or if they were on a long GOTO, and another unit passed next to them. It usually only happens to Settlers, Workers, and other non combat units (A/D 0/0). It is a big pain in the neck when you have a Settler on a long GOTO, and the Settler gets stuck this way and its escort continues on its way.

I have seen this happen when the Worker was on Road To and similar type commands.

I had similar problems with vanilla before (and after installing C3C over it). Some units were just 'ignored' (i.e. won't get automatically active - problem often 'triggered' by hut-popping) or the city screen did not automatically show up right after building a new city (asking for production). However, the city screen for a newly founded city would show up after hitting the 'end-turn' button; units on go-to-command would then also make their movement.
:crazyeye:

This stuff used to happen when I (re-)installed Civ, a patch or C3C - then it vanished. Maybe it's something with the .ini file and game prefs.

Yep i've seen this happen.. actually quite often. i see it once or twice every other game. Haven't seen it yet in C3C, but i haven't yet completed a game. only happens with workers though.

This is a great savegame. Reproduces the bug clearly and effectively.

Heck, it's not just the 4 workers, you've got a small army of workers that have been dropped up there :)

Whoops - double post. :scan:
