Afforess's Modmods

Thanks for the deletion advice, that seems to have solved it. I can click custom leaders and go to SP now.

I'd like to try out two other modmods, but I don't want to mess things up. Is version 1.40 of your modmod (all things installed save RealDiplo and Sea Monsters) compatible with Modular RoM Civics Building 1.101 and ANM 2.18?

Here is the folder containing all the leaders of MegaCivs plus LHs provided by RoM and Custom LHs.

WORD OF WARNING!!!:
I only concentrated on adding new leaders. I neglected to edit music part if there was ever a need to edit them. I'm Deaf so I did not consider them relevant to me. Fix them yourself if they bother you.

Secondly, it is middle of the night in DC, so if you find any mistakes, please know assuredly that I made them by accident :).

Otherwise, Just extract the folder to Rise of Mankind/Assets/Modules/Afforess and overwrite when asked for. The overwritten files are the same, thus no real change happened.

Plus, go ahead and include it in your future version for players who are masochist :D.

For now, just extract it to Modules. It should work if you are using Afforess' Universal MLF file.

I want good AI strategy so badly. If they can do it with chess, why is civ so hard? Only solution for me is to play deity... btw can someone please merge the godsmaker difficulty and the eternal speed level of Aaranda? ;-)

Lucky you. When I read opinions like yours I feel so small. In my current game,
I still don't have astronomy (1742 AD), I'm sitting as a man in a cave :) on
prince level. To my defense - I got very unfriendly starting conditions -
very long and thin continent (shared with Germans, I killed them at once)
with ice and tundra on the bottom. Basically I could place almost all
of my cities vertically side by side, with horribly high maintenance cost.

Lately I got visit from first AI - Huayna Capac is almost 200 points, and
at least 10 techs ahead.

here the bug:

when i launch the game and the first menu opens, there are no words-texts-buttons in the game menu. i see there is the possibility to klick the words, but i cannot see the words.

i have installed BtS 3.19

Are you trying to play BTS in a different language than English?

There is no bugs list mainly because I do lots of Q&A testing before releases. There are no bugs. However, my modmods are not meant for other languages than English.

yes, i my Version of civ4 and BtS is german.

but i thought, ur modmod is a modification only for the Mod 'RoM' (RoM works absolutely fine with my german BtS), and will not change Civ4/BtS files. it was installed in the BtS\Mods\RoM\ folder...

you could go into the INI and change language to English :lol:

I'll post a folder of just text files. If you can translate the lines that are for the German language, and post them, that would be awesome.

(The lines are marked <German> Some text here </German>

if you know other languages, you can translate them too.

If you find a file which has no text entries for any other languages, like this one:

New XML fields:


In CIV4UnitInfos.xml, I've added:
  • PrereqOrVicinityBonuses
    • This is a list. It allows modders to set an unlimited amount of resources that must be in the cities workable radius for the unit to be trained. This is an OR bonus requirement.
I couldn't find this tag in the Vicinity_CIV4BuildingsSchema.xml does this mean it got missed?

Edit I miss read and miss quoted - however I still can't find the tag for OR vicinity bonuses in the building schema. there are two

sure, i'll try some of ur textfiles... but why do u need it when its not compatible with german bts?

The reason it crashes is because I don't have the text for German. If the game doesn't find ALL the game text, it acts strangely, the main menu vanishes, etc...

It's because I probably never used it. I got lazy with Schema's and only updated them as nessecary.

However, when I do an official release of A New Dawn, I plan on releasing a set of fully up to date and functional schemas for everything I changed.

However, for your individual case, here's how to add it to the schema:

i work already on ur first textfile. but sometimes its not really clear how to translate the text... difficult to describe.

sometimes its necessary that i know, in wich case a specific text pops up (or whatever), for exmple:
<English>Revolutions Exposed</English>
<German>Revolutions Exposed</German>

is this text ingame a warning, that a revolution CAN happen or that it DID already?
the word 'to expose' can be translated in different ways :crazyeye:

Look at where it's being referenced, if you need help. That is a Game Option, so it's one of those choices you select when setting up a custom map. Basically, it exposes more information to the player.
 
I have put the elements in the scheme and used them in a building. The pedia does not show the OR resources as required so I am assuming it is not working while I hunt for some useful graphics.

Further examination shows that it is not working in game (1.51beta2). In the picture you can see that I can build the building even though I have no resources. (yes, I am using fisherman's hut graphics for now.) Also attached is a simple building so you can test it yourself. Since there are no graphics it can go in any mod folder.
