OK. I'll give olivertownshend the choices I'd make if I were playing.

To be clear, everyone has a religion, a Holy City and a shrine as well as a temple, cathedral and monastery (needed to build more missionaries if not in Organized Religion). Here are the religions:

Eclipse: Taoism
Nighthawk: Buddhism
Imp. Knoedel: Judaism
Natuland: Confucianism
Michkov: Hinduism
Hercules: Christianity
Oliver: Islam

So, I assume that everyone will want to be running their State Religion unless they plan to run the Free Religion civic.

Can everyone PM me their e-mail addresses so that I can send you screen shots of your starting island and capital? Seeing your starting area may affect your civic choices...

Are you answering for Michkov? Or are you calling him out to see if he'll follow suit?

Yes. Running your state religion is required for Pacifism. Plus, you should get +3 in your capital, which can't hurt, right?

I´ve sent you my address per PM, my civic choices are as follows:

Representation
Nationhood
Emancipation
Mercantilism
Pacifism

As you can see, I´m all set for isolated GP hoarding for now, but that doesn´t mean it´ll be like that the whole game. I´ll just watch and see how dipolomatic relations develope for now before I choose a side, should blocs emerge.

And I want Judaism as my State Religion, obviously.

OK. E-mail sent to Imp. Knoedel. Once I get his OK, I'll make the final civics changes in the game and send it off.

I've made all of the changes and came up with a potential problem. For all of the players that are NOT running Emancipation, there is already a +4 for not running it. This applies to Eclipse, Michkov and Oliver (by my civic choices for him).

I think we have at least four options:

1. Let those that aren't running Emancipation just deal with the unhappiness or they can change thier minds and start in Emancipation.
2. Start everyone out of Emancipation on T0. If you want to revolt to Emancipation at a later date to mess the other Civs up, go for it.
3. Don't allow Emancipation in this game at all.

At a minimum, the three leaders who did not choose Emancipation should be able to change their minds based on this discovery. I didn't think the Emancipation penalty would kick in until later in the game. It must be due to the advanced start.

It's your game, so let me know what you want to do.

Let Eclipse make the call, its his game. Everyone else is biased. Personally I don't care because I'm Spiritual anyway

So option 2 would be your "biased" decision. You could freely revolt to Emancipation on T0 and everyone else would have to either burn a GP on a Golden Age or suffer a turn of anarchy...

Maybe the best bet is just to let those not running Emancipation one last chance to change their civic...

I am Abe' Friggin Lincoln, no way am I going to run anything but Emancipation! Wars were fought over this issue and I´ll eat my top hat if you let those slave-drivers win! You might as well pee on the graves of the brave men that gave their lives fighting under the Star-Spangled Banner as far as I´m concerned!

Come to think of it, for role-playing purposes I could declare war on everyone attempting to run Slavery. This can also mesh nicely with our later Planetfall-game if I get to play Pravin Lal.
Look at me, the map isn´t even finished and I´m plotting already against whom I should wage war.

Nevertheless, I say if you want to build what could possibly be the greatest achievement in the history of mankind on the foundations of oppression and injustice, you deserve whatever punishment your abused people sees fit to apply to you. How can we think about extending our grasp to the stars if we are not able to resolve the most burning issue for every freedom-loving human being, that of the enslavement of man by his fellow man? This Republic was founded on the principles of inalienable rights that apply to each and every single human being, and we will not sit idly by and watch as others trample on them, much less when they are about to defile other planets with their inhumane ways.

This issue must be resolved before all others, as only a free coalition of liberated human beings has the right to spread our civilization to the stars. A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this species cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free. I do not expect mankind to fall &#8212; but I do expect it will cease to be divided.
