AG10 - OCC Conquest (Emperor)

lurking time

Umm, I am not sure your guys' comfortability level of this sg ( i just read through all 22 pages hehe good read), anyways, you could try Initiate propoganda on the mayan city.

It's all down hill from here....

2016-8 continuing........Kill the three MI in Besancon and capture the UN. Take 48GPT, 1086g, Marseilles, Lyons, Bonampak, Lazapa and Ica for 20 turns of peace. Kill an infantry and rifle in Kansas City to capture that town. Richtofen forms a second army. Fire sale in all extra towns nets 515g. Watch as the Seti Program is dismantled, The Great Lighthouse is extinguished and the UN joins the League of Nations in the trash heap of History. Join Cold Blood and Great Panzer in the new Army. Kill rifle in San Diego and Hengest appears. Kill second rifle and San Diego Falls.
Form colonies on lux and rubber.

IBT Abe sends 4 cavalry, an infantry, a rifle and a guerilla to die before killing a MI and a Panzer protecting a new Ivory colony. He form Albuquerque on the spot.

2017 Polution keeps the bomber from completing.....cleared. Kill 4 guerillas, a rifle and a cavalry in Albuquerue. Kill another cavalry covering a settler near the ruins of San Diego. Send damaged units home.

IBT kill two cavs adn an infantry attacking the Ivory colony.

2018 Bobmer completed. I'm leaving him in Berlin in case the next in line wants to make a Doolittle raid over the east coast of America. Injured units are sitting in Berlin with no movement. Most MI at on guard duty at three chokes and two empty airbases we will want to use later. Our active army is spread out north east of Phoenix for ease of deployement: 15hp Army, 14hp Army(my mistake), 5 elite Panzers, 2 Elite Mech Infantry, 51 Artillery and 19 Bombers ready and loaded on the "mid-island".

Great work. microbe, just finish the game if Greebley hasn't done it in his round :) You are 'allowed' to play 15 anyway. The 10 turns when at war rule was mainly there because industrial age and modern age warfare takes a lot of time, even as OCC.

ROSTER (15 turns in peace time, 10 turns when at war):

We are at 18823 making 64cpt while not mobilized. That is 19 turns so we need to mobilize to give us some more room. I'd hate to think we need to abandon Berlin due to high culture.

Preturn: Attack several American cities.

I am curious why we made peace so late in the game? Now we have to wait 18 turns to finish off the americans when I think we could have one the game in 6 or so turns. America will not last more than 3-4 turns if that and then we just sit on our thumbs until we can attack the Mayans. Not that it really matters though. I just space through several

I destroy 5 american cities.

I succeed with a careful steal and get miniturization (start offshore platform)
I fail with an immediate steal, no war (though that was expected; nothing we do is likely to cause war).

I sell off all our culture producing buildings and raise Lux to 10%

I build a bunch of outposts so I can see what is going on

2019 AD:
Raise 4 or 5 cities leaving 3 left for America.

2020 AD:
Take all but the American capitol (takes 2 turns to reach).

2021 AD:
Americans destroyed.

Now I have 15 turns of waiting to attack Maya. Since I sold off all the culture buildings we have no need to mobilize for culture, but it is worth while to build tanks every round.

2036 AD: I can finally attack. I do so. I destroy 2 minor new cities.

IBT: 6 Mech Inf are lured out of the capitol

2037 AD: The capitol is pounded on.
The 6 mech inf outside the city die.

IBT: Mayans Complete the Internet :crazyeye:

2038 AD: destroy the Mayans

Notes:

In the replay I noticed that someone was capturing and abandoning cities, seemingly for no purpose. Be aware if you capture and abandon, you transfer all drafting and whipping unhappiness into your capitol. You should only capture and abandon for very important things like armies

Good game all. I enjoyed playing it. It was unfortunate that my vacation landed during the challenging part. You all really did very well while I was away however.

I will include the final save.

[dance] Thank you all very much for an exiting and difficult game. I didn't think we could actually win this at a certain point. But obviously the human player has so many advantages in late game warfare that it's almost criminal.

It appears that my holiday will be postponed by 6 weeks :( When this will be confirmed (within now and a week) I will start up a new OCC with the concept as decribed a few posts back...

Greebley, could you show us a few screenies?

 :hatsoff: :bounce:

Well done all. I was in the doubting camp for a while until Microbe wiped out most of France. Will the demi-god game be a 2CC?

(Sorry for the smily indulgence.....I just wanted to use some of the new ones.)

The demigod will by an OCC, but not with conquest as only option. However, I don't want to make it a UN or culture game because there is no excitement in that imho. There is still a chance that my holiday still take place in september and then I won't start it until after I'm back.

At that time I was pretty confident we could win, given enough time.

The turning point was the turn that we got Motorized Transportation and Computers. We've got lucky in stealing Computers. Similar things happened in Bugs2.1 that I stole Fission to be able to build UN. We won with Diplo eventually.

I think I'll probably play a game that forbids stealing.

Yes, we especially needed Motorized Tranport. Computers was a great bonus, but without it we probably could have come far with an infantry army.

microbe, you didn't get a chance to finish the game, but you surely turned it around by getting the Panzers :)

EDIT: Strict OCC Conquest without stealing... :hmm: Could also be fun...

Microbe, it was pure mop up with little challenge. The American cities were all new, and the Mayans had 13 Mechs, 2 artillery, and 8 destroyers.

If you want, you can play my last round ignoring the peace treaty and see if you can win in 6 turns or less.

I won't be able to play your next OCC, but will definitely lurk. My suggestion is to go for the strict OCC. Allowing for the building of armies makes it much easier than an OCC game.

If you do go for a strict OCC games with no steals, I would stick to Emporer difficulty.

I'm just very glad that our Germany gamble (as civ of choice) worked out. It is often said that OCC Conquests can only be one when you win quickly. We did exactly the opposite. OK, it was not the most strict variant of OCC, but still we had only one city for production, commerce and science. And I believe that we would have won without the armies, only probably close to 2050 AD.

The game went almost exactly as I expected: build until late industrial ages and attack with panzers. :)

We tried to attack earlier, but failed embarrassingly.

Germany is the best tribe. We certainly need those artillery and that's already middle IA. Any attack before that would have high casualty. Ottomans might be second choice.

The game's over? Aw, well, good game anyway, guys (we won!!). :goodjob:
