AG10 - OCC Conquest (Emperor)

Great progress, and terrific kill ratio! Those bombers certainly help a lot.

Regarding helicopers: who has used them? I kinda remember they cannot transport motorized troops or artillery? So I guess we'll just use bombers, and transport cavs to take the city?
 
A couple of thoughts before I play. Huamanga and Vilcabamba will be in artillery range in three turns. I'll try to take those to with the loose Panzers leaving the Army to push farther ahead and take the next town with the help of the bombers. I'll keep building bombers throught my turn unless I get some bad luck. After clearing the northeast, I think we need ot bite the bullet and take Chichen next. We will have to pass through the culture to get to the last coastal cities. Greebley will have a grand welcome back from Smoke. :p

The Civlopedia says hilocopters can only cary infantry troops, not mechanized units. I don't know how cavalry or artillery fit in that description. I'm thinking we only need 2 paratroopers and no hilocopter for Ica. One PT to take/raze the city and the other to cover the open square. Our bombers should be able to kill all the defenders. It looks like we can stack some artillery 2 squares away from the town, too.

Where did they land and any idea what they did?

FYI...I see that there is no complete road to Lyon and the other old French town. We will need 2 turns to rebuild the rail line there before we need to get those cities.

I'll work through Hua and Vilca tonight a provide an update tomorrow.

How many bombers we have? I am not sure if that's enough for our amy to take towns. We can try though, but I'd feel comfortable if we can have 15+ bombers at least. Maybe you can go for small towns for that. Look at the Maya military plan I posted a while ago. Now it should have even less defense.

Also, panzer isn't necessarily able to take out redlined MI in big cities. I also wouldn't try to use a heathy army to take 3hp MIs. Although time is precious, we can't risk the army and I think we can make it with the safe way.
 
I don't think that our SoD is big enough to advance faster than we have done. The Maya will attack the panzers with tanks and MI's. Each panzer leaving the SoD should at least be covered by two MI's, but that's a minimum. The towns are probably defended by 4 MI. 15 bombers is probably not enough to redline them.

We need home defense as well. Berlin was attacked quite a lot.

The Maya landed close to the city where our colonies are. I had to retreat the slaves and allow America to expand. I saw some fighting, but in the end America got rid of them.

EDIT: I agree with the bombers and hitting on the capital after the NE. With 20+ bombers and artillery we should be able to raze the capital quite fast. And there will be a certain point where we can reline cities with bombers alone and then really use the speed of the panzers. So I don't mind a steady but not to fast progress in the next 15 turns. After that we will probably pick up a lot of speed. Most american cities are new and have had only one border expansion at the most. Easy prey for us. The town of Ica shouldn't be a problem with 20+ bombers and paratroopers/infantry as well.
 
Exchange damaged MI in our SoD with healty ones on Homeland Security duty. Move up one MI to see that there is an Infantry guarding this side of the choke and a pike guarding the far side. All arty and bombers have been used so he moves back in defense. Abe must have thrown a lot against the Mayan landing. He is down to 9 cavalries, 24 rifles, 6 infantry and 9 guerillas. Smoke's 44 mechs are still a problem.

IBT Kill one tank and the second is stalled by our culture. [1-0]

2009-1 bomber-->bomber Arty and bomber easily kill second tank. Bombers kill infantry guarding choke. Send four slaves home and use a fifth for the airfield. Start shifting bombers. Army and Panzers take the south side of choke, arty and covering MI move up and thre MI conver the new airfield. Destroy the aluminum colony north of Chichen Itza and the MI guarding.[5-0]

IBT America and the Maya stop fighting. Two MI and an artillery appraoch Berlin.

2010-2 bomber-->bomber Home guard arty and bombers kill one but redline the second MI. Kill second with bombers from forward airbase one, preventing me from abandoning it. Capture the Mayan arty. Kill pike and promote a bomber. Kill tank guarding aluminum colony. Shuffle troops north. [9-0]

IBT nothing

2011-3 bomber-->bomber Kill two citizens and a MI in Vilcabama. Other 2 MI are still yellow. [10-0]

IBT A tank approaches Berlin. Two MI cover an arty atacking us. Three destroyers attack our airfield.

2012-4 Kill the tank but only damage one of the MI. Arty and bombers clear 3 MI and a tank from Vilcabamba. I send in a panzer to claim 94g and 4 slaves. Bombers kill 2 citizens of Huamanga but do not kill any damaged units. Army kills the three MI while losing 5 hp. I send in a vet Panser to clean up the last tank promoting w/o a loss capturing 96g and 4 more slaves. The Maya have built a jet fighter. [19-0]

IBT THE AMERICANS DECLARED WAR ON US! We lose our ivory, rubber, coal, and dyes. Promote a MI against an american cavalry. Kill a Mayan tank on defense. Let Smoke retake 4 slaves. [20-0]

2013-5 bomber--bomber The nine artillery I was able to move up to Ollantaytambo are not enough to help out the bombers. They kill two citizens and destroy two buildings instead of the injured units. Drop the two offending MI near Berlin to 2 hp but the bombers miss again. Barricade the 2MI holding back the americans. My scan of resources captures a slave and destroys 2 aluminum colonies. Send a few units to fortify the American choke.

IBT 2 MI and a tank aproach Berlin.

2014-6 bomber--bomber Bombers kill the three MI in Ollantaytambo and we capture 103g and 3 slaves. Kill the two MI, one tank force approaching Berlin. Build a third airfield and move some bombers farther north. [26-0]

IBT Another tank approaches Berlin. Polution misses the bomber by 2 shields.

2015-7 Kill the three MI in Tiwanaku with bombers and arty for another 109g and 3 slaves. Other bombrs destroy the police station in Cuzco. Kill the tank near Berlin. [30-0]

IBT 2MI approach Berlin.

2016-8 bomber-->bomber Kill the three MI in Cuzco capturing 77g 2 slaves and watching the pyramids turn into piles of rubble. Pull arty back home and kill the 4 MI in sight and capture tat annoying arty. Kill 2 MI who took over our first airbase. [39-0]

Pausing here because we can reduce Smoke to the Capital and Ica for peace. He still has 24 MI out there. Twenty turns would put us in the uear 2036 with 14 to finish off Smoke. The twenty turns should be enough to kill Abe's 21 rifles, 11 cavalries, 15 infatries, and 10 guerillas.

The turn is incomplete becuase what we decide is how I arrange the troops.

I'm also tired and need to get to bed before the Mrs. wakes up and i'm not there.

But I would press on in this turn (Besancon?) and try to get every town except the capital. If we then also take Kansas city from the American we will have 8 cities. That means.....two armies :)

Thinking about it a bit more...

We will crush America within 10 turns. I don't want to wait until the peace deal runs out before we focus on the last city of the Maya. Demanding every city for peace but then breaking the deal before the 20 turns are up doesn't sound good to me. I doubt that we could get them to declare on us. We could also just continue with the war. The trouble is Ica, but we can deal with that with advanced flight coming in in 15 turns.

We now only have an oil resource (no rubber). That doesn't matter because we can still build bombers, but we have room for colonies now (wines, dyes, silks and rubber).
 
Or we can get Ica in peace treaty, and only leave Maya with 2 cities (capital and Lyons, probably). It will guarantee a win, and not necessarily delay much, as we can get 5 cities without fighting. We need more than 10 turns to take them out manually anyway, and getting Ica would also save some trouble.

Then we can just take two towns from America and form another army.

Of course fighting both would be more exciting.

EDIT: agree on getting Basancon first if we want to make peace. That way Maya will be an OCC.

By the way we should pillage the barricades at the choke. They are just slowning down ourselves.
 
Yes, I vote to take Besancon, get all the other cities for peace and then take Kansas city to form the army.

EDIT: We should mobilize again when we make peace with the Maya. Although we will probably not win 20K anymore. I assume that 6thgentexan is going to play the last 2 turns of his 10?
 
I'l complete my turns. It was getting late and this was a good point to pause and talk. It looks like the consensus is to take the cities in peace for the 2nd army.

I'll pillage the barricade. I built them when I though Abe would send his calvary our way. I gues I put too many troops there making him think twice.

I see no reason we cannot leave Smoke for 20 turns. He will switch from military to settlers. we can easily pillage all available resources. Resource denial in neutral terrirtory with our stacks of slaves is not a problem. When he does start resettleing, we can pillage making sure his cities are not connected (unless he settles in the shadow of Chichen Itza). We will also have the time to position our troops near any settlement for a quick end after the peace ends.

I am considering a demigod OCC, with Space or Conquest as gold medal wins, 20K culture as Silver medal win and UN as bronze medal win. Somehow I think that conquest on demigod is too difficult. But then again, I thought the same about emperor before AG9 :)
 
Demigod occ beside culture is almost impossible in standard size map I think, but tiny pangea might work.

By the way I am still interested in a OCC space race at emperor, but I will not start it this month as I'll be away for one week 8/25-9/1.

I wouldn't worry about that. Do not pillage everything, that would slow down ourselves. We just need to put some units or workers around rubber and oil.
