AG9 Where we show that movement is more important than hitpoints and defense.
1575(0) I wake up the worker stack and start to road inside our cultural border along the coast to help us repel any potential seaborne invasions.
I will go directly for Delhi, as getting rid of the annoying walls would help take the other cities so very much.
I have no feeling for how hard Indias counters are, so I dare not expose an Ansar along the border taking out the lone Longbow I can see.
IBT:
A jumbo comes out of the fog and eats our pikeman on the hill without taking any damage at all.
1580 I use the army to take out the Jumbo, but army will have to stay and heal for a while now.
1585 Movement
IBT: Greece and India sign peace. They did not cancel our MA first. how nasty of them.
1590 I resign the Greece to war using 19 gpt. I prefer gpt for this kind of deal, since the risk is great, and giving them hard cash is just a reason for them to go to peace early.
I spend 80 gold rushing a longbow before switching back to Ansar, as that saves us a turn.
1595 In a battle of an elite Ansar vs a regular Elephant on the grasslands next to our healing stack, Ziyad appears. He will likely rush something.
I disband 20 slaves to get our next Ansar in one turn as well. I am going all out to get our troops up to strength for the final push.
IBT: Our crusader dispatch a longbow easily after a Trebuchet speaks in his defense. I had hoped they wouldnät get attacked at all, but I was wrong.
1600 Movement, kill a longbow.
IBT: Our reinforcing Ansar, fortified on a hill defeats an attacking elephant.
1605 Siege of Delhi starts. After using our ten Trebuchets, I have managed to ding four veteran Muskets, and it is a pikeman on top.
I disband another ten workers for shields. At the siege I satisfy myself with killing two defenders with the army. I now know delphi is supported by a Treb and a longbow, in addition to the unknown number of regular muskets Killing the vet pike revealed.
1610 I use the army to kill another two muskets, and there is left two 3hp muskets and 2 2hp muskets. I am certain they will fall next turn. I will let the Elephant and Longbow sneak past us, as I hope they are heading for the Greeks.
IBT: The elephant redlines against our fortress for healing. Our defending Crusader lose one HP.
1615 I lose three Ansars, but Delhi Falls. I fought against three muskets, one We and one Longbow.
Our army heals. I want to use it to crack the other cities.
IBT: Still no sign of attacking Greeks. Perhaps they do not even build Longbows ??
1620 Hyderabad is razed by three elite Ansars. Bombard and kill a stray elephant.
Just for fun, I checked with the Indians, and we would get four cities, almost five for a peace deal right now. Boggles the mind, having a real shot at getting two armies in an OCC.
Of course getting peace now is out of the question, as we would break the deal with the Greeks. Keep it in mind should the Greeks sign peace though.
1625 I move army into position for strike on the next turn, One stack of Trebs are heading for the interior, and most of our Ansars are healing.
1630 An Ansar heading for the front makes a small detour and promotes on a Longbow.
Army is dismayed to see Karachi has grown to size seven, but in the end it matters not, and Karachi is razed to the ground.
1635 Movement
IBT: I am amazed and entertained by an elephant dying when it tries to stomp an Ansar I didnät realize were exposed. Ansar loses two HPs.
1640 I kill off two Longbows who had emerged from the Beleguered Indians.
IBT: Bangalore completes Magellans. This paints a big bulls eye on it for our army together with two Ansars to take out.
1645 The Trebs bombarding Kolhapur all miss, so the assault on that city gets delayed. It is on a hill, and losses are likely to be unacceptable unless the trebs hit well.
At Madras the defending Muskets only have two HPs, so assault is on. I have no problems dispatching the two Muskets, but the remaining Longbow manages to retreat one Ansar before Madras is history.
Razing Madras splits India in parts, and India is now four small parts. They are down to nine cities.
IBT: This time the Counterattacking Elephant wins. I had hoped they wouldn't have one, and my sloppiness gets punished at once. At least the Elephant is redlined.
1650 After a successful siege, our troops make short work of Kolhapurs defenders.
I have put our army next to Bangalore. As long as it has 10 HPs or more, I feel it quite safe to attack with it. I brought along an Ansar, should there be a longbow or some such defender left. Nearby are a Crusader and a trebuchet should you feel the need to retreat.
One stack of Trebs together with troops are heading south, and one stack should head towards the north.
I recommend you keep at least two units on the treb stacks, as there is less of a risk losing the entire stack that way.
Greece are on their way to roading the iron, and you may want to check on them with the next Ansar so you can pillage that road.
Two Ansars against every Musket is somewhat safe odds.
If we want to destroy our rep, we could possibly get two or three cities in a single turn, and another four or five in peace deal, but that would break a deal knowingly, and also it is likely not necessary as long as we keep up the pressure.
Use trebs to keep losses down. A 2HP musket is unlikely to even kill one elite Ansar.
