Agressive Cyrus in BTS

I have noticed in both my monarch BTS games (marathon/huge big/little map) that Cyrus is alot different.

He was extremely agressive, in a very strategic way. He waits until renansance, the picks one apponent, conquers then moves on. I lost my first Monarch game with mansa Musa becasue of him

Now in my current game with Roosevelt, I sign a defensive pact with him at pleased (the usual) even though we are different religions. Sitting Bull who is Cyrus neighbor attacks me ( a pitiful cheap naval landing), Cyrus goes to war with him for exactly 5 turns and sues for peace. After a short war, I get peace from sitting bull. Maybe 20 turns later Cyrus declares on me. Time goes on I sign another defensive pact with Cyrus. Isabella out of nowhere attacks with another poor naval attack, Cyrus declare on here (eventually vassals her) but now I have taken a hit on relations, no longer pleased but caurious even at war witht eh same opponent (now I get -4 penalty for you have traded with out worse enemies. Late in the industrial age I have a good tech lead over him, He goes to war with Ramses II who is his neighbor for no apparent reason other than a different reason. The game is still playing but I would not be surprised to find a fleet or persion tanks on my shores and a hundred years.

Had anyone seen this side of Cyrus before. In all my warlord games I have never seen this, he has always been peaceful and easy to please. Very loyal if you sign a defensive pact and unbribable. Now he is almost worse than the othe AI maniacs, he is unpredictable and seams to make war like Shaka, very well.

Was he changed somehow with BTS? I would not be dissapointed is he was because I think this Cyrus better plays to his traits.

That's nuts! My experiences with Cyrus is that he was always more of a builder than a warmonger, though I addmittedly haven't seen much of him in BTS. (I like having Darius on the map) I'd be interested in knowing if is personality has changed.

I'm guessing, madscientist, that you play using Aggressive AI? I wonder too how Cyrus was actually doing in that game... was he toward the top in score? How was his power graph throughout the game? Even as a builder, maybe he was feeling pretty good about himself... especially if he was in a strong position, maybe he was more apt to throw diplomacy out the window and start delcaring war on everyone.

Cyrus is a good ally. He doesn't backstab you, signs DP readily, isn't a huge threat to outtech you, etc. I'm always happy to have Cyrus as a close-but-not-too-close neighbor of the same religion. Emperor/Monarch BtS player, for what it's worth.

I'm telling you guys, he's a different AI.

My current game he has attacked Ramses and Sitting Bull for no reason except for expansion (bull used to be a friend of his). I have standard AI agression on. He has been #3 in powergraph all game.

I'm saying watchout if Cyrus in an AI in BTS.

That's good news. I think I voted for Cyrus as the best warmonger in a poll a while back, and it's good to see the programing catch up with his traits. Can't say he's been in a game of mine yet, but this early warning will come in handy.

Well now he has declared war on a former friend Gilgamesh. He is definitely going for a Domination victory. BTS is great, Cyrus going for a domination, Musa going for space, and Justinian and Gilgamesh trying to beat me into space.

Well Cyrus has vassaled Gilgamesh and now declared war on Justinian, his only real competition besides myself.

No, the only added feature besides the standard settings is I am using Solvers patch.

i had cyrus attack me last night playing as gilgamesh. i was shocked. monarch level and it was still fairly early in the game and i am not sure why he did it. boudica was b/t us, he had 3 cats and an axe on galleys and that is all he ever came at me with, i thnk he just ran out of room to grow and so was confused. he demanded a tech and i refused, he attacked two turns later. i eventually reloaded to an earlier point, he demanded tech again and this time i gave it to him. he still ended up DoWing me, but not until several turns later after he converted to Buddhism (Boudica founded Christianity, Cyrus and I were both Christians when he DoWed the 1st time)
