This might have been posted somewhere already, but the AI is trully stupid when it comes to the big Red Beasty. In my last game, the stack of Kazad units glaring at Acheron was so big, that the list extended well above the top of the screen:eek:! Their was another Kazad stack next door (the next tile) with more then a dozen units in it! The AI needs to toght what to do with Acheron (mean while, by Risen Emperor walked right past them and killed the big red meany).
PS. Why do the Kazad build nothing but slingers? They were starting Mitril Working, but 40% of the units I saw were Slingers! The rest were Hunters and Soldiers of Kilmorph!

I think they should be taught that he's not a threat, and to just leave him alone until they at least have champions

Conversely I think he needs to *be* a threat, and just roll out a bit later. My first game of ffh, the rampaging dragon took some of my cities, and I spent quite a while getting them back, in the end having to just lure acheron into attacking a hill fortified stack for a while, then suiciding waves of axemen til I got the job done.

It set the tone for my entire ffh career, and I miss the rampaging dragon.

I commented as such in a similar thread in the FFH forum.

I think it would be pretty fine for acheron to be able to move only a short distance from his home. say 5 spaces or so. Not going on a rampage across the world, but enough to actually be threatening to people who choose to settle near him. (or are unlucky enough to)

the best thing would be to make acheron lose held and gain AI_CITY_ATTACK if someone steals the hoard :D

when does that ever happen, anyways?

Never seen the AI do it. and I personally hardly ever use esus.

yeah, it's really uncommon. perhaps being able to steal the hoard should be possible for more units, like all units with "hidden" for example.

What'd be really cool is if acheron did not initially spawn, but there was some... I dunno, some lesser horde guardian that acted like acheron does now, sitting there, but able to be killed earlier. And if you do kill them and take the horde, acheron spawns in full on "gnaw your face off" mode, and goes on a rampage against anyone who gets in his way, hopefully mostly after the horde thief.

As far as a potential guardian goes, I like the idea of a weaker mate and a few little dragon babies best, so he'll be good and pissed off when he decides to rally the barbarian hordes and set the world on fire.

It is explicitly stated in the lore that there was no hoard before orcs, awestruck, started giving tribute to Acheron. It might be cool if the hoard (very) slowly got bigger as time goes by, while Acheron still sits on it. Not after somebody else takes it. So it produces more commerce or gold (whichever it does) if you take it 500 turns after it was created, not right away. At least the culture bonus should improve. Will make it pretty much impossible to culture flip Acheron into oblivion (which I have done before). Perhaps link it to the Savages' performance. If the orcs don't plunder anything, the hoard does not grow. On the other hand, if half the world is being burned down by a rampaging horde, the hoard gets very big.
