I just lost a bunch of my land. The message was that the AI had stolen my land. I tried looking it up and people seem to be saying that a GA with culture bomb, but that seems so Civ 4, it seems that GG is being used to steal the land. Is this something that anyone has run into and what is the consensuses on what is going.

ADD ON: OK so I think I might be answering my own question. The AI seems to have used the GG to build a Citadel next to the boarder and that moved the boarder and lost me the land.

Cheers Zonkvert

Yeah, GGs can do that in G&K.Never personally had it happen yet, but I've heard of it.

This be telling you that

1) said AI has higher military than you
2) said AI is planning against you
3) GET PSYCHED!

Ottomans stole the land and so I massed in defense on that boarder, but now Sweden on the other side of my Kingdom has sneak attacked me.

Oh I will get you.

"Shake fist"

I had the Romans do that to me multiple time during one game. They were really trying to touch me off, I guess. They did steal a few luxury resource tiles that I had ironically acquired by the very same method.

just curious, can GA's still culture bomb in G&K?

No, in G&K are instead the only great person that can still trigger a Golden Age.
In addition, they can still build a landmark.

No they can not.
But they are the only great person capable of starting a golden age.

EDIT: Oops, left the window open too long. Was already answered.

Hope it was not Gandhi he loves to A-bomb you when he gets nukes. Which while seemingly is against type makes sense to me.

his flavor for nukes is 12, which suggests fat fingers while trying to hit either 1 or 2.

I had Montezuma steal some land from me recently, and since I had an extra great general lying around, I took it right back. Then I got the negative diplo modifier because "you stole their land with a great general". Well, what did he expect? I didn't mind too much though, because both the Aztecs and my Roman Empire were expanding relentlessly across the continent, so we were sure to end up at war eventually.

It seems that with the way that the Diplo works if you let them walk all over you are setting yourself up to be crushed militarily and if you respond you get massive negative Diplo, its a pity the spies can not assassinate the Great General. it would be kool if spies could do that, or they could be modded to do that.

It's not an accident, in CIV he was that nuke-prone too.

Out of all games i played the only time the ai stole my land was if i stole their land with a gg. Theynever stole my land if i didn't steal theirs 1st. So even if your hostile with a border enemy they won't initiate it 1st unless you steal their land.

In my experience that isn't correct. See my above comment. Aztecs were definitely hostile with me, and they stole from me first (and not during a war).

Sorry but one quick question, building a Citadel will turn the surrounding 1-tile-far land into you territories?

Do we need to build the citadel near our territories? If not, we can build an "island" of territories inside others territories?

The GG has to be adjacent to your own border at least. Therefore no "islands" are possible - not inside other territories and not in the no man's land.
