Aim

can i start a knew IM thread? first page would consist of all (or most) of the IM addresses from here

See, the thing is, most of the IM addresses from the first page are defunct. We'd need a fresh slate, so we don't have twenty old addresses hanging around.

This thread really needs a round of cleanup. We should remove it and begin a new one, to see who still uses AIM, or is still NESing.

Who's for creating a new thread?

I agree with this as well.

Agreement here. I might get AIM or MSN soon, so I don't want this thread cluttered up.

i am against this. but only because i think it will be done wrong and/or left unfinished.

when this thread started up, most people didnt have a buddy list full of NESers (or atleast they didnt have all teh NESers they deal with regularly).
this thread fixed that. so now anyone who cares enough to bother has all the NESers they need in their buddy lists.

so if a new thread like this is started, MOST people wont care enough to post their addresses there and the reasons will be::
1. its already in the old AIM thread, if anyone realy needs it, they'll find it.
2. the people i need/want to have my aim name already have it. others i dont care enough about to bother posting the address again.

and if someone just tries to compile list of aim/msn addresses, then they have 2 choises:
1. list everyone who posted in this thread (i'm all for this, but that's not what people seem to want, as it would include retired NESers and non-NESers)
2. list only those people who the list compiler thinks are current NESers. which would mean that some NESers would get left off the list and get pissed. and some people would be included who shouldnt. the compiler proly has a specific type of NES he gravitates to, and people who dislike that type would not get on the list cause the compiler never meets them in games and would think them retired/disappeard/nonplayer. for example if the compiler is not a boardNESer then he wont include me, cause i dont exist in the story games at all. if he likes fresh start NESes then he wont include some people who only play modern/space games. and so on....... it'll be a mess.
could try a "confirmation" type list, by sending PMs or something to everyone to confirm that they're still NESing and their AIM/msn names, but that would have the same problem of most people not caring enough to respond (try getting orders out of a bunch of NERers and you'll see that they dont respond much to PMs)

I have just realized that despite the fact that one person seems to have done some identity theft to discover my AIM, I have yet to give it out, so here it is:

 That was me, for those wondering.

Whaddya mean identity theft??? :p

I haven't given my AIM out anywhere else, so you had to have sneeked around following my identity trail to find my AIM. For all I know you could have my social security number by now.

That would only be the case if you had posted your social security number in the same place as your AIM, in this case, in your profile.

Now don't you feel silly? :p

I got a new aim name a while ago, just incase someone needs to talk to me.

AIM: Stratocast Floyd

Dachspmg does not, has never, and will never have AIM or MSN. He does, however, have GoogleTalk. His incredibly inventive Gmail address:

dachspmg@gmail.com

msn: slozenger#hotmail.co.uk

# is an @

Well where else should i have posted? This is the thread linked from the sticky.
