AK6, Revenge of The Nerds (CSC 1.22)

Agree on the culture city. Change that to a cathedral and rush it. then start a pre-build for the next wonder.

:wallbash: Yes, change it to Cathedral.

I sort of agree on the troops, but we need a couple more turns to have a few more units. There won't be many riflemen, only ones they've built, because they never save up money for upgrades (and everyone's at war with them so they won't get the money from another civ.)

got it......

preflight (850ad)

no other culture buildings available atm in Tarsus (already has cathedral), so start palace
wake caravels and start them towards Sumerian Territory.

turn 1 (860ad)

unloaded 30 units by Zabalam

ibt:

Sumer requests an audience: granted just to see what they would offer and the answer was: nothing
We retreat one knight attack and lose an elite AC to another

turn 2 (870ad)

capture and raze Zabalam
Unload a settler where Zabalam was

ibt: no counterattack

turn 3 (880ad)

settle New Kadesh (Sumerian continent) => temple
Settle New Adana => caravel
Position to attack Umma next turn

ibt: defeat all 4 units that counterattacked

turn 4 (890ad)

rush temple in New Kadesh
Raze Umma for 1g. Lost 2 knights

turn 5 (900ad)

failed to take Kuara has one longbow left

ibt: Ottomans and Sumeria signed a peace treaty

turn 6 (910ad)

Razed Kuara for 18g.

turn 7 (920ad)

WW sets in.
Lux to 10% and rushed cathedrals, markets, or settlers in still unhappy cities
Attacked wounded knight with wounded elite KT (probably would have died before making it to safe territory) and generated leader => army

ibt:

Get landscaping for our palace

turn 8 (930ad)

position troops to attack Kua next turn

ibt:

Sumeria moves lots of troops into Kua
We get lions for our palace steps

Turn 9 (940ad)

Our attacking army barely survives
Raze Kua but at a steep cost in troops
Cancel our alliances (no turns left)
Make peace with Sumeria. Get Dabrum, Apisala, and 130g
Traded WM after peace - if traded with the peace, could only get 1 city

ibt:

Sumeria demands removal of our troops, agree
Sumeria and Persia sign peace treaty

turn 10 (950ad)

moved troops out of Sumerian territory
Checked Civ Assist and right now we will hit 20k in the year 2002.
A couple civs know metallurgy. A trade might be possible.

Notes:

I investigated Ur and they will complete Newton's in 7 turns. We have 200 shields in our box with 200 to go. I can MM tarsus to 25spt for a few turns, But, that's still 8 turns, by my count. :(

If the team thinks we need Newtons, the only thing I can think of is to buy both Physics and ToG, break peace with Sumer and go pillage roads leading into Ur so they have to hire entertainers and sit troops on shield tiles. However, we could keep building the palace and try for universal suffrage as if we do that, we won't be able to buy techs near as easily.

got it, game no3 I am up, but will play latest tomorrow morning

save

Pre-turn
so many cities already, MM galore
there are a lot of techs out there for us to get and since it won't harm to get Sumer back to war. place an immediate steal and succeed, get physics :)
sell physics and 10gpt to Ottoman for metallurgy
there is a huge wonder we need that is Shakespeare, it is not built yet, gives 8 cpt. so we need PP first
get PP + 5gpt from Persia for physics, nobody knows democracy

1. now Ottoman and Sumer know democracy
not enough money for a steal

2.
Sumer asks for ridiculous price for techs
I set up military for next turn (in case steal goes wrong) then go for a steal

3.
now going for a steal. immidiate to save cost, we succeed, take magnetism since only Sumer has that.
for magnetism and iron we can actually get democracy and ToG from ottoman, go for that
Sumer has nationalism and steam, Ottoman has steam only
tech pace is insane I feel. we got to hit them but none of them have MT or Free artistry yet. since we still have money, go for another immediate steal from Sumer, succeed, take nationalism
get steam and navigation from Ottoman
we got coal but too few workers, Sumer got no coal :)

4. we can build iron works but I can't see where? Argos, a pretty useless town, well
we lose 3 luxes and I need to trade some techs to get them back

5.
investigate Ur and they will build Newton in 5, Tarsus in 4
Found 2 new cities in Sumer land. start to rail Tarsus 1st, newton down to 3

6. railing, no new techs

7. nth much

IT we get Newtons, culture now 50pt

8. Tarsus back to palace, we want Shakespeare, operation railing continues

IT Ottoman demand lux, I do not cave and they bugger off, trade WM and get 10g instead. Byz and Sumer make peace

9. Byz got a little cash and they are willing to pay 150g for exchange of WM

IT Germans land 2 untis in our land, they want war?

10.
I ask the germans to get lost, but they declare, we lose a lux, but get happiness
attack 2 german units at New Kadesh with elite knight and second knight creates a leader. Leave it to next player what to do with it
we can form an empty army to be filled with Cavs once we have MT. that would also enable pentagon to be built
no new techs showed up after the initial mad rush. next player please watch out for new techs, we got a ton of money for steals
and we should especially aim for MT (we can then mass upgrade all those knight since we have a ton of money 3700+g)
and Free Artistry to get Shakespeare (8 culture per turn)
sent some settlers north of ex greece, but watch out for those Barbs

Ottos and Sumeria learned FA. In 1070 we did a safe steal from the Sumerians. Changed Tarsus to Shakes. Investigated the AI cities and we should win in a laugher.

Landed 6 knights in the marshes south of Cologne in 1090. Next turn we grabbed Cologne and its wines.

Mr. Marx and Mr. Lenin visit Sumeria in 1110. It is not clear if their efforts to overthrow the government were successful. REgardless, we need to know something about this Communism, so we steal it.

The dog ate the rest of my notes, but I think I made peace with Mr. Bismark. Shakes is due in a few. the MGL is parked in Tarsus to rush a small wonder in the future. Rai net is almost done.

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/nerds_1150_AD.SAV

After Shakes is done, maybe save some cash to rush a factory and coal plant there when we steal Ind.(after the AI learns it). If I counted correctly Tarsus should be able to do about 100spt with factory and coal plant.

Next turn we grabbed Cologne and its wines
great, that's exactly what I hoped we could get from the German war.
Btw, if you use the MGL for army, we could build the pentagon. but that's only 1 cpt.

I saved the MGL hoping Sumeria would build espi. and we could rush IA. No problem if we want to use it for an army and build Pentagon.

I should get this played after Church/ Sunday dinner tomorrow.

I got 2 techs during my turns.
I got Medicine by launching the Byz to the IA. Sumeria researched Industrialization for us.
I stole it first try, and with coal plant and factory, we make 82 uncorrupted shields per turn in Tarsus. I also added in a bunch of workers. Shakes bonus feature. :D Tarsus is a pollution Mecca, and the Haj appears frequently. (Had to clean a mess off of a mountain. Arrgh). I brought most of the workers back to the core to improve our core. I started many more police stations to decreas our immense corruption. We also were paying ~200 gpt in unit costs. I decreased that to ~150.
I formed an army and left it unroaded, and we have stuff to build in Tarsus for quite some time. (Pentagon). MT should pop soon as should espianage. I would not revolt. Tarsus should also build a police station as it would give us an extra 4 spt.
A peaceful set of builder turns.
Next more thorough player

nice job romeo.

viper's up.

can someone run that calc thingy and see when we should win? IIRC it was 2002 before Shakes, should be better now.

Concur we should NOT revolt.

Got it. I'll try to find the culture calculator thing, I don't even know if I've d/led it  .

Found New Karhuyuk around turn 3, safely stole MT from Sumeria at a similar time period (around 2300 gold spent.) Upgrade lots of knights and filled the army with cavs. IBT turn 3, Persia declared war. 20 more turns of peace with Germany. The middle of my turnset was just defending from Persia, then reinforcements arrived. Later I complete Universal Sufferage in Tarsus. Burn lots of Persian cities, Tyre and some other German one north of Cologne (they'd flip + taking out anger.) Take Berlin (barely, RNG made that tough) and troops are healing there.

Take Berlin
did you declare war on germany, though we had a peace treaty?
