Minor concern about the UN sec general going to Churchill, but we can easily annex Mehmed, so whatever.

We can't force Free Market, but we CAN force Open Markets (which is a completely different mechanic available only through the UN). This forces everyone to trade with each other. Joy.

Damn, maybe we should've attacked Mehmed earlier. I did not realize how easily he would be crushed.

I beat Konya down to a single chariot and hold off taking the town as I see a stack incoming to reinforce it. I'd rather not have a single wounded tank as garrison hehe and might as well let him sink the rest of his troops into konya for the easy tank exp.

Oh damn, Al Gore is an effing project and cannot speed it up hehe. oh well. 4 turns on 3 gorges so put the great eng back to sleep.

So uh I notice a spy in rome and see steal treasury is 2 spy points... meh ok whee we got some gold! do the same for washington, shipping them back.

Agra takes a time out to plunk down some health crap as airports are soon.

Delete or promote the trash in patty, need to pop a few real garrison for that town hehe.

So round two konya, suiman sank the remainder of his troops there so all good... of course I geek and have a tank go north instead of attack but all good! Barely a scratch and we gain the town.

So Kayseri on the west coast is up next 3 tanks vs trash. dessie stack lowered def to zero and clean sailing other than one tank goes down to 14 strength.

As we nab the town I spot a frigate so a spare dessie from the bombardment stack snakes around for el punk!

This town has a settled priest.

Punk Edirne's defences and well but it's far from any innocent tank stack. Hmm ok I'll just wait for the fleet to come back with the bigmen hehe.

Gaz is a trivial kill for a pair of tanks so that leaves the inland capital.

Istanbul is close to konya and well it's defense is underwhelming to say the least. Will split off the healthy tanks from Konya to support the marines sneaking in from the north.

We win a great general named... hmm... it was... Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar.... wow what a cool name.... Just in time as I embed him into bombay with 11 exp mechs with medic and march due in 3 turns..

2 tanks run into gaz for a single attack as I think it was on a hill... whatever, didn;t even look. That leaves one defender and reinforcements are going to be too late. Taking a long time to punk this effing rock.

Fleet comes into the theatre and so the lone marine jumps off to punk the longbow late in arriving to gaz. Forgot to promote him even oh well the blue glow is relaxing.

BTW drydocks are really good now they produce only 2 :yuck: but also 1 :health: now so when u get a recycling centre drydocks actually help with health :P also the 2 free hammers are nice. i didnt think +4 h on coal plants were usefull as we are about to get the 3GD for power and wont build any coal plants.

Imagine that event when youre japan shoal plants + 4 free hammers :O

i also think it was a bad idea to keep sullie alive now china has to dfeal with alot of :mad: because we yearn to join the motherland decreasing his usefullness as our vassal.
 
I got it. No big deal keeping Sulei alive. We really don't care too much about Qin's usefulness right now. So long as he can vote for us in the UN if we need that. Besides, Sulei is quite likely to get wiped out by Churchill when we start that campaign; his lone town is on an island with two of England's towns.

Got it, btw. Going to be setting up the troops and everything for the English invasion.
 
Those mech inf pairs in all our colony cities...did we ferry them over there, or did they spontaneously appear when the colony was created?
 
The new colony gets 2x free garrison troops of the bog standard type the parent can build...

Archer ->Longbow ->Musket ->Rifleman -> Infantry -> Mechs

If say we poped an england at rifles, they'd be 2x free redcoats. With Qin, waited til we got mechs then let him loose for the free mechs... since he;s protective.... well pownage.

As for Qins yearning bs, who cares hahaha. QSH just getting his core towns is going to take over 10 turns such that we cannot rely on him to do much of anything other than vote for us. I woudn;t doubt the AI gets a discount on yearning penalties as well hahahahaha.

And yeah that Dry Dock event was kick ass. Good choice over coal plants for exactly the reasons you stated.

1930AD (350):

Preflight check. Ok, not my specialty, but I need to clean up this mess and prepare us for the war against Churchill. The first order of business is getting ALL these troops back to the homeland for the attack.

Ok, so we have some boats to the south of the Chinese continent, near Gaziantep. Not nearly enough, so multiple trips need to be made.

All troops are pulling out of all Chinese cities, because they have Protective Mechs in there as defense. LOL, Qin has more Mechs than us :p. They are heading to Samsun, which is the closest rendezvous point for our transports to return to. Anyone who could get on a transport this turn did, and everyone else ran for Samsun. No rails in China, so I will leave all the captured Ottoman workers with Qin in Samsun. This saves us from having to transport them back so they can stand around and stare at the forest preserves.

Boats are heading for Lahore and Tlat, which will be our two staging points for the English operation.

There is a settler at Ahmedabad for some reason. We don't need any new cities... Ok, so as to not waste the settler, going to send him to the 1 tile island south of Mad :p. Trade routes FTW!

We have lots of workers in Hyder, so fortify them, as they have nothing to do.

Tugboat stops in Boston and lets off the spies. We'll cause a Free Market revolt so we can spread Sid's.

I draft out of Teno for a free Mech Infantry. Yay.

We're running priests in some places, and I'm not really fond of those specs, as they're fairly inefficient. I elect to go with more scientists. In Hyder, I fire the engineers and make them merchants, as we want more money out of our Wall St. city. Kolh is running some citizen specs, so fix that. Pata running scientists with free engineer slots, etc...

1931AD (351):

One of Tugboat's spies is immediately caught. Luckily they didn't figure out it was us.

Some of our troops arrive back home. Going to start sending them to Tlat.

Bombay Mech is done, and we need more Transports, so dial one up.

Mad's recycling center was just finished. Place is meh, so dial a missionary to send to Qin.

Ahmedabad finished... something, and health will soon be a problem, so go with public transportation.

Kolh's drydock is done, and I wasn't aware we would be building anything here. Go for a supermarket, as we have the odd-numbered food problem here.

Ok, military is fairly prepped. Here's the plan of attack.

Here in the north, the name of the game is to acquire staging bases for our air power (yes I have been building some bombers). Brighton is on its own island, so will never cost us extra colony maintenance. We should capture it and use it to base bombers in order to ease the taking of continental cities (if its not easy enough already; Churchill seems to still be running Redcoats).

We hit Warwick right after, likely on the same turn, as there are only 3 units guarding Brighton. From there, we head south to Dover and meet up with the Southern Fleet by Oxford. All units should get off near Dover for the march to Hastings.

The south is a bit more tricky, as the objective here is a little different. Put simply, Canterbury must be taken and held or put to the torch. The city has SoZ in it, and it will screw over our WW and force a lot of culture spending (not that we pressingly need tech though). The direct route is through London, so we'll have to seize the capital on the way through. Since we pass right beside Oxford, we might as well take it on the way in.

After London is secured and we have troops marching on Canterbury, we can go after Hastings and Nottingham with any remaining troops, if we actually have any remaining troops. By that point, the forces in the north should have linked up, so we can cause some mass chaos down south.

When reinforcements accumulate in Lahore, if they are not needed for the main strike against the Canterbury area, they should go on a southern tour and secure Leeds and Norwich on that little island. Sulei's lone town is there, so if Churchill has any troops whatsoever on that little piece of land, Sulei is likely dead and we'll have to take his town back too (or we could just airdrop mechs into his city to help him hold it). It is preferable that Sulei live, so we can give those two cities to him instead of holding onto them.

From there, any reinforcements can finish the southern English cities, while we consolidate forces and push into the inland cities. The only inland city we are initially interested in is Canterbury due to the SoZ, so don't go after any others unless we have masses of unused troops. By then, we should have airpower in the area to compensate for the lack of artillery (I didn't send any because they are useless in Amphibious situations now).

Turn 360 AD1940 (inherited turn)

Silver has set me up with two nice invasion forces. I'll wait a turn so that I'll have the moves to take two cities per task force on the first turn of the war.

There is an English destroyer off our west coast and an American destroyer to our south. I'll try to watch where they go.

I salivate and hit enter.

Turn 361

Lots of things finish building. Eleven of them.

Let the games begin.

Our missile cruiser from Madurai dies against that American destroyer (we had 76% odds). A nearby destroyer finishes the job for us, though. The English destroyer has disappeared into the fog.

Our missile cruiser near Oxford dies to an English destroyer (we had 74% odds). So far, the rolls have not been good to us. Two other destroyers finish off the English destroyer and the ship of the line that was under it.

Oxford has four redcoats and a catapult defending it.

Our fleet brings down the defenses. Our tanks are 71% against the first defender. They all go down without a loss. I let our CG1 infantry strike the final blow against the cat, and I airlift in a CG3 mech from the homeland.

Next up is the northern fleet against Brighton—3 redcoats in the city, and a cavalry to the south. Our tanks take care of them all without a loss. I unload a CG2 infantry and airlift in a CG3 mech as defenders.

The northern fleet moves south to Warwick, which has a CG3 infantry and 3 redcoats defending it. After taking down the defenses, our best tank is 31% against that infantry. We lose one tank and take the city.

The northern fleet doesn't have the moves to make it to Dover this turn, so it pulls into Warwick for the night. I'm assuming that our land troops will participate in city defense even though they are, for the most part, loaded onto transports, still.

Back to the southern fleet...it's decision time. I send a destroyer out to scout London. It's guarded by a bazillion troops, including one CG3+Drill1+Guerilla1 infantry, and he's on a hill. There are also 6 CGn redcoats, a SAM inf, 6 grens, 17 cavalry, a cannon, and assorted naval units. London won't be a pushover, and I think we might need to bomb it into submission.

I pull the southern fleet into Oxford but I don't de-boat. (I really hope those units on boats can defend). I rebase our two bombers to Oxford to hit London next turn. I want more bombers.

New cities are all set to build airports to start.

I brace for impact, and hit return.

Turn 362

England counterattacked in Oxford. Two redcoats and two cav were crushed by mech inf, who apparently sustained no damage at all.

We lose a battleship to the destroyer (74.7% odds, our luck stinks). Our other ships finish the job, though.

London has only 4 land units left. Where did the others go? There they are...in Dover.

We shell down the defense, and the two bombers do their thing, but most of the troops in Dover are still undamaged. The good news is that our best tank is 98% against the lead defender. Thundercats are go!

We attack with every unit in the northern task force except for Timur, whose odds are terrible. Most battles are 98% or better. One is about 76%. We win every one, and Dover's defenders are significantly reduced.

I decide to kick a man (or a city) when he's down, and I commit the southern task force to the attack on Dover. Warwick and Oxford will be desperately weak, but the chance to kill off so many plump, juicy troops all at once is too much for me to pass up. We lose one CR2 infantry, but win the rest of the battles and take Dover.

Turn 363

Washington breaks free from Churchill. He's still warring with us, though.

Washington and Churchill throw 3 cavalry at Warwick. One of them dies, and the others withdraw. Warwick holds.

The game crashes during an alt-tab. ARGH. I don't have any save after 1940. It's 3 am, and I have to start again. I am angry.

I intend to replay the same way as far as possible. I do not intend to take careful notes. It's getting too late for that, and I need to work tomorrow.

Ok...back to turn 363, and things are pretty much the same as they were, maybe a unit more or a unit less here and there.

Washington did break free again the second time around, and Warwick did hold again.

We take London and Hastings. One fleet unloads its troops into each of those cities.

Turn 364

Massive counterattack this turn, mostly by Washington. We lose Warwick. Hastings and London hold, for now. Timur dies. RIP.

Units lost during that counterattack:
Gandhi: mech*3, tank, marine, timur
Churchill: cav*4, redcoat*2, gren
Washington: cav*7, sam inf*2, gren*2, inf, cannon, artillery
A total of 6 units for us and 21 units for them. But we lost Warwick.

Warwick wasn't taken by much...one battered unit in the city and three to its south. We retake it and station 3 mechs there.

AC completes the Apollo Program.

Turn 365

Two American destroyers take out two of our destroyers near Lahore. We counterattack with a missile cruiser and a destroyer and sink them both. Our nets and oil there are intact.

We get a great prophet in Calcutta. I send him to Delhi to await further instructions.

Our bombers start in on Canterbury while our troops in London heal up a bit.

Turn 366

Advanced Flight comes in. I choose Laser next, 4 turns.

Shields are down in Canterbury. Bombers are softening the units there now. Our troops move out of London and will make the assault next turn.

Turn 367

We fend off several attacks, including some by airships. Our modern armor staves off a surprise attack by an English catapult. :)

We take Canterbury. It's after 5am, and I'm exhausted. I'm going to put the pictures in and call it a night. Someone else can take over for a bit.

Nice turns and nice taking Canterbury, really the only town we want on the mainland right now.

Timur was Silvers :Smoke: btw, he was a free mech upgrade and he left him as an infantry. All of the bigmen were left as infantry actually... bad silver!

Oh well life sucks hehe, with air lifted mechs and tanks vs redcoats it's really not too horrible hehe.

Warwick and Oxford will be desperately weak, but the chance to kill off so many plump, juicy troops all at once is too much for me to pass up.

Amen! :D

btw WW is killing us to be expected so let silver look at the save to cut loses. Time to go culture and police state looks like.
