And destroy small cities in a fashion that will be marvelled at by archaeologists thousands of years later.
So I guess there's an upside for all those archaeology enthusiasts out there. :)

Wow, I go to bed early, have a busy morning, check steamdb (nothing of note), pop over here, and find over 100 new posts in this thread? Nice job, CivFanatics!

PS, even if there is a love theme, if you're wondering if the expansion would make a good Valentine's gift for your wife/husband/significant other … no, just no
I'd happily receive it as a gift from my husband . But if it's released on Valentine's day, I'll likely have preordered it long before he gets around to figuring out a Valentine's gift....

(I would caution against giving it as a gift to a significant other who has less than several hundred hours in the game already.)

I don't think St. Valentine's Day is so bad. Not everybody has a date/goes out on that specific night. A lot of people put off going out with their significant other until the weekend so it's less stressful. And it makes for a nice gift.

I hope 2k doesn't have enough demographic data on us to assess how many of us will be lonely on Valentine's.

And I really hope that if they do, that wasn't the reason for deciding to launch sales of the game then!

See, I covered that off with my careful wording of "if you're wondering …". If your significant other already has that much time in, you should know this is a good Valentine's gift.

But, uh, even then, don't make it the whole gift.

The building on the left looks like some sort of offshore research facility since it has the blue roofs of the science district. Just like how the Water Park has yellow like the Entertainment district.
If that would be the case, it would be a useless district since it looks like a very late game thing.

Looking back at how "BoomGoesTheDynamite" was a name for a depot recently, and we thought the unusual name could have been aimed at us, I wonder will we see more unusually named depots now that the secret of the second expansion is supposedly out.

Here's a link to the Wiki page for Hongi Hika.

Looking at the depictions of him on the page, it seems like this is the most similar to the leaked Polynesian leader concept art. The pendant on the necklace, the skirt, and the fur on his shoulders. No facial tattoos, but perhaps Firaxis thought they were too hard to animate, or would offend Maori people. Or they could be adding them later.

He also looks a bit like the New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison, who is of Maori descent.

What is this compat branch? Just curious, since I'm not exactly familiar with this update terminology.
No idea, really. It has the same depots as the 2kqa branches (including the mysterious DepotTest); it's not weird like ltest. Would guess it's to provide a preview/test version to a different group of people than the usual testers.

I got confused. Are the Steam DB updates speculated to solely be the expansion, or is a patch speculated too?

I wonder if the Maori guy might be Kupe? Firaxis have done semi-mythological historical figures before.

If they have a historical leader for the Civ that fits, I expect they'll go that route instead. So if they go Maori, I expect a real person. If they go Easter Island though …

And when they'll want to have a puppy/cat/pony/whatever, they can call it Herculaneum
I prefer the puppy/cat/pony/whatever in this case as Herculaneum is much better the Pompeii; more well preserved. However the one thing you can't deny about Pompeii is the shear scale of the ruins...
