All aboard the hype train! :D I really enjoyed the discussions here for Rise and Fall and waiting for a new video every Tuesday. Can't wait for all that to start up again. I really really hope we don't need to wait til June of next year though..I'm impatient!

Well, give me 2 good patches that greatly improves air combat, naval combat, turn performance and put the modding community back to work and i can wait a couple months longer. I thought the 2nd expansion would release in februari. But if you look at 3 year development cycle mentioned by Ed. I now i think the second expansion will be vast, followed by 2-3 patches or hotfixes afterwards.

I didn't consider the possibility of interim patches. I would be tided over with some patches for sure, especially if they added a bit of content like that really nice religious patch that added those new beliefs + buildings (especially if they also update the SDK so we modders could use such assets :).

Did Ed Beach mention a 3 year dev cycle? That almost makes me sad since that's next year :(. This is the first Civ game I got in on the ground floor.

There have been several undocumented updates to both the main game app and the new DLC app. It's difficult to tell exactly what that is about.

More specific news of the upcoming expansion will come shortly after Civ for the Switch is released.

It seems as though Firaxis and Aspyr were reading my posts I made in jest about Civ for the Switch a year ago.
Can I request things you should post if that's the case. :D

It'd be sweet if the DLL source code is released. Then significant AI mods can be created by modders.

I also hope the DLL source is released.

I wonder though. With so many more games going DLC heavy routes recently and with Ed Beach talking about a three year post-released development for Civ VI. If they might release three major DLC this time around. I'm wondering if they have been keeping the DLC secret and the fact that its appeared on the steam database is a sign they are soon going to announce it. Surely they have been working on something since the last patch and not just started work on it now. Though this is probably incredibly hopeful thinking and they will probably stick too the vanilla release, few DLC civs, expac 1, expac 2 template

This kind of stuff is also why I am convinced that the no communication policy is dictated from higher up (most likely 2k) and not necessarily what Firaxis wants.

Most people who are proud of their work like to talk about it. I'd like to think the development team is proud of their work.

Including whatever work they're doing on Schrödinger's Expansion.

I don't think this showing up in the Steam db now means it's coming 'soon' unfortunately. As Eagle Pursuit pointed out, R&F's package first appeared in May and R&F then came out in February. We may yet have a long wait ahead of us (maybe June, as some are extrapolating).

Regardless, we must remain steadfast in our conviction and belief in the Holy Tenets of Firaxism. Farlem.

At least Sarah is watching - so "they" could assume that Eagle Pursuit's comparison / calculation would give a first approximation (June). They know that we know that they know ...

How much could they "tell" without saying anything at all? How would they do this?!

Time is pretty relative:
it has really been a long way since I discussed in the newsgroup 'comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic' in the 'civ2proposal' thread the advantages of hexes over squares ...

Traditionally in Civ the odd numbers bring new elements and the even numbers find perfection.
So I feel, the goal is near, finally. Just two more little steps, just two expansions and I'll find salvation.
Just one more little step!

Are those, who make a "SOON!" out of thin air and wishful thinking, then in March talking about 'something' is DELAYED??

[Meanwhile, the small sect of Firaxism followers is still pursuing the quest of the Holy Band-Aid ]

What do you guys suppose could be added to fix the game? I honestly doubt dumping more features will make the game more pleasant. Firaxis should prioritize some “quality of life” changes before adding more stuff. Automation, User Interface and actual modding support, Get rid of tedious tasks.

I usually love DLC, but at this point I doubt I’ll be buying it. It has to be pretty didlydoo fantastic before I give anymore money to this trainwreck.

I love the mechanics of civ vi much more than civ v. The AI has also noticeably improved since release. However I am still really nervous they won't release the DLL. If they don't I feel the game will never be able to reach its true potential. If they are following the civ v model of releasing the DLL two years after release that would be next month. Is there any chance these updates could relate to that?

What do you mean by "actual modding support?" I am an author or contributor to over 90 Civ 6 mods and I am fine with the modding tools. It'd be nice to be able to use more assets, and it would have been nice to have more documentation or communication when the modding community was grappling with certain difficulties, but the Civ 6 modding scene is vibrant and the SDK is good.

I also don't really share any of the other complaints, except it'd be nice to see how many resource copies you have on the deal screen. But calling this game a "trainwreck" is reckless hyperbole. Civ 6 is a wonderful game.

I'd give the new app about 80% chance of being XP2, 10% chance what we typically refer to as a DLC (e.g., a civ and scenario or a map pack), 10% chance stuff related to modding (e.g., source code, world builder, or better documentation).

And June 2019 seems a pretty reasonable guess for XP2 release.

They added a depot called Boomgoesthedynamite. This is getting very meta.

So....they plan on exploding all our computers? :badcomp:

Lol. They changed the name to DepotTest. I guess someone frowned on their shenanigans.

Hey Eagle, was it ever ascertained what "GH" was supposed to stand for?
