@Rup No problem. Even if you decide to wait for Rise and Fall to be included before buying Civ 6, you could always pass the time with some other great Switch games like Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, etc. I don't think anyone would blame you!
Come December: Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Smash Bros. is a great Nintendo series to for Nintendo newcomers and veterans alike.

Well, Gilgabro for Smash Bro would be cool. I guess it’d look a bit like this.

Super Mario Party is out as well and Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee too!

Here is a probing question (and maybe some free, informal research for Firaxis marketing) -- if Civ VII gets announced to be only a console game (ie, iPad, Xbox, PS, Switch) and no PC, how many of us would willingly buy it (presuming we have the underlying console architecture). Although I enjoy having Civ 6 on my iPad, if that was my main experience, I would very likely pass. Unless there is a major leap with consoles/iPads in processing architectures, I would expect a continued movement toward a "faster and simpler" experience. In all fairness, this may help with AI and other issues plaguing the game, however, I would not be keen to see an even more simplified game.

That would be a great way for Firaxis to completely screw themselves over, I think.

Hard to believe that civ7 would be for consoles only, as 6 isnt on any console yet, Switch just being close to iPad mentality with touch screen and portable. Same speculation went off with civ5 too and it seems that civ didnt find enough players from there.
I am pretty sure mext expansion will be out after Switch port has aged a bit, otherwise it could chew some sales from Switch.

How is being on other platform a bad thing ?
How is being on IPad worse than being on console or vice versa?
If they can make the control bearable in a certain platform they should release the game on that platform.More platform means more people I know enjoying the game.
Unless one platform limiting the potential of another platform for that game. I don't think that is the case for Civilization VI.Now a days mobile games doesn't only use that artistic art style like PUBG so I don't think that was done in favour of phone and tablet release.I freaking love the art style of CIV VI.

I agree. Its only a good thing. I love IV most, and on PC of course, but my first civ game was civ I on SNES, and without that game I wouldnt get my hands on civ II and all the rest. Civilization is the last one of its kind and any exposure on new players is a good thing.

You say that, but it was clearly the port and release of Civilization II on the original Playstation that started the simplification and console-based focused of the series /s

Seriously, Firaxis is windows development shop (they don't do any ports in house afaik). Just retooling to be console focused, while doable, would be a significant overhead. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they added a little more in-house skills in that department in terms of networking/interoperability, as the only way I'd buy say an iOS Civ 6 is if I could start a game on my PC and continue the same game on an iPad and back and forth - whether it simply be by cloud-based save file or my PC serving as the pit boss.

I see Civ remaining PC primary as long as an overall PC gaming market remains significant. Unless something like Civ 7 ends up being a giant financial disaster and they just throw in the towel and make Civ 8: Pay .99 to build that wonder immediately

I don't have a device capable of running the game other than PC. So the answer would be no. And no way would I buy a device to play the game, because any game that is not on PC isn't worth playing in my opinion (I'm a PC elitist, I admit it).
What he said. We don't own any consoles and as much as I like Civ I wouldn't buy one just for that.

If Smash Bros can include every prior character, Civ can include every prior civilization in the game! ;)
Barring the Huns, Native Americans, Vikings and the Holy Roman Empire while turning Venice into Italy, dividing Polynesia into one or two Civs and turning the Celts into just Gaul I'd take it.

Who here would be okay with CiVII having a $90 price tag, our of curiosity?

Was watching a lot of Extra Credits recently, and it made me wonder about the best way for Firaxis to fund the game. I think I prefer a $90 price, plus the same old DLC and Expansion model to any other sort of cost system. And I would probably be willing to buy a couple more purely cosmetic DLC, or at least some map packs, or those similar to the Vikings (which I've ended up really enjoying).

Micro-transactions and loot boxes (which would be worrisome since we've got the 2K parent company) seem like they would be very out of place and uncomfortable for the series.

$90 base game for Civ VII? If it had at least 30 civs, more than 2 alt leaders, and all the mechanics from Civ VI, I would.
