All Quiet on the Civ Front

And yet, there are reasons as to why it does, for each case that this applies to.

Assuming that every business practise in 2018 is wholesome, beneficial and (internally) sustainable is just just one of those reasons :p We're not magically in a better place compared to 2000 just because of the year.
And despite all your clever points, we are still posting "all quiet in civ tront topics" and digging it thirsty of any news. I dunno if all in 2018 in general is better, but I am sure that half year gap without a new content and no pr communication with player base is just bad. You got it?

I tend to call it Weiqi or Baduk so that I don't cause confusion nowadays due to the number of things that are using the word 'Go'.

I doubt that would reduce confusion. I, at least, have not heard those names before and would be utterly confused if you called it that without context allowing me to deduce what you're talking about.

If every business practise is wholesome, beneficial and internally sustainable then no business would go bankrupt. Businesses make mistakes, sometimes for years on end and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. That's a simple fact of life. Doesn't mean that 2k is definitely doing it, but I do personally believe that, for example, the Paradox way of interacting with fans is (vastly) superior to the 2k way.

Why Civilization 6 didn't do as well as some expected is because:-
A:-4X genre is not doing good.
B:-AI and polishing.(AI can be improved to use all the new rules and cheat more sneakily)
C:-Nostalgia effecting CIV franchise since CIV III.

Random funny thing I noticed, Civ 4 had a lategame slowdown between turns because "too many units".... both later versions have the exact same problem but now unit count cannot be conveniently blamed any more since the slowdown is a combination of graphics and units bumping into each other. The problem is still exactly the same... no one seems able to figure out how to streamline the AI so it does not get caught in semi-infinite shuffle-loops and essentially bumbles it's way to victory via inconsistent ineffective politics.... the "fixes" of #6 essentially makes the bots appear to be pouting 5jr olds that throw temper tantrums.

The funny thing is on one hand the game needs a competent AI and on the other given current apparent technical standards.... any AI that could properly play the game without exploits would be kinda terrifying since it would have to be an auto-learning one on a central server somewhere....

Ignore him. Coming into this thread saying there's not going to be another expansion is basically the only thing he does.
[Hipster Glasses] I said there would be no 2nd expansion before it was cool. [/End Hipster Glasses]

But with the new depots and start of activity, which COULD be related to the Switch rollout, I've moved my doom-and-despair prediction to "likely but unconfirmed". I should probably put that in my signature.

Thank you for letting me know. :)
I researched about this game a long time ago for my study regarding deep learning.

To everyone I disagreed with, I hope I didn't come out as rude,my intention was to learn few things from you guys while sharing my opinion. I consider myself a bad designer when it comes to anything other than programming.I still sometime struggle with front end web design as a full stack web programmer.
I thought about telling this yesterday but as I was sick I went to sleep early. Me and my college mates are thinking about working in an Indie game project. So I was thinking about something 4X with historical eras inspired by CIV.I wouldn't be the game designer of course.

I did learn quite a bit from you guys, especially @Trav'ling Canuck . I think your view about the design of future Civilization game is interesting. This is literally one of the most talented community tbh. From ,history enthusiasts, long term gamers to modders everyone is so talented lol

It sucks that any updates to a depot doesn't mean it is automatically an update for the PC version of Civ VI, it could be for an iPhone, iPad or Switch version. The depots have sorta lessened in value, before we were like "ooh!" when there was an update. Now i'm not so sure.

Schrödinger's Expansion remains both in development and not in development for the foreseeable future.

No, the table of depots has a column for OS. Ltest has no OS listed. DepotTest is listed as windows. In addition, DepotTest is grouped with the Windows base game and DLC depots in updates of the branches 2kqa_a, 2kqa_b, smoke, and pdreview. Plus, DepotTest is listed as a DLC; ltest is not. This all points to DepotTest being a DLC for the base game, most likely, IMO, the second expansion.

Edit: also, smoke branch updated a couple hours ago.

Well, you know what they say: “Where there’s smoke, there’s jaguar!”

That guy looks more like a Buddhist monk (especially with the extended earlobes) than a Mayan King......Civ3 leader designs are weird.....

The Mayans practiced some bizarre body modifications--skull elongation, tooth inlays, tattooing, piercing anything that can be pierced, some that aren't mentionable on a family friendly site--but I'm actually not aware of the Maya elongating their earlobes (some Native Americans did, though). Civ3 designs really were the worst; I say again: may era-changing attire never return. :p

may era-changing attire never return.

It was kind of funny, but isn't it strange that Montezuma is not dressed in very much attire and with feathers in the atomic and information era? Both ways are kind of silly.

I think it was more strange that everyone was dressed in suits and ties (and female variants). It kind of assumes that history panned out the same way with Western civilization colonizing and pushing its culture across the globe. Might be at odds with how an individual game would go. Not sure what we would consider modern professional attire had the Aztecs conquered the known world.

Well, the fantasy feathers are silly in any era. :p I'm all for depicting a leader well in the era they actually lived. Civ6's Montezuma still doesn't meet that criterion, but at least some leaders do. :p Anyone else remember Skinhead Joan of Arc? I remember Skinhead Joan of Arc. :p

Indeed. Conceivably cotton loin wraps and capes would be the order of the day.

Thank you. I did not know this.
