All Quiet on the Civ Front

Even if I deigned to include the Greeks, I would permaban Alexander the Punchable. :p

There are a few leaders that have just become Civ fixtures for some reason:

Alexander the Most-Punchable
Gandhi the Nuke-happy
Shaka the Doom-stacker
Genghis the Comeback Khan

I'd say the fact that @FXS_Sarah is on vacation this week is GOOD. There is literally nothing she needs to be marketing this week, Schroedinger's Expansion is currently set to "Likely But Not Confirmed".

If it was a patch her vacation cycle wouldn't matter and she should have taken some vacation time during the summer like a normal person or should wait until closer to the holidays like someone who likes her family.

So, we can conclude from this that:

1) Sarah has light skin and fair hair and thus, by definition, is not a normal person and would burn into a red, flaky cinder if she took her vacation during the summer. So this is not a good vacation time for her.

Which leaves option 2, the holidays.

But option 2 is off the table, because Civ6 expansion 2 will be in the middle of actual news cycles and thus she won't be able to get away, so the calendar says that this week, in the middle of nowhere (but my vacation week last week, which, of course, is an international holiday) is the best available time.

If it was a patch, her vacation wouldn't matter, because patches don't get hyper trains rolling.

Looks like I might be updating my signature file soon.

What I really want is a Wallachian civ to play as Vlad the Impaler for Halloween. What? He has a big personality :D

Weren't they around in the time of the Ottomans? Maybe instead of a "Byzantium and Ottomans DLC pack" we get a "Wallachian and Ottoman DLC Pack"? heh...

I forgot to comment on this earlier but a Romanian civ lead by Vlad would be pretty cool not to mention it would be in time for Halloween! I would probably prefer Hungary before Romania/Wallachian civ but I wouldn't turn my nose up to the possibility of having both. Maybe a separate part of that Classics super dlc could be a dlc with Hungary, Romania, Byzantium and the Ottomans!? Include the Hittites and that part of the world is truly and completely covered.

(I would tacitly add “the Celts” to this list.)

I mean, surely they must know that the fans won’t just settle down if the big favorites are left out.

Its definitely why I'm thinking we'll have 2 expansions at least. Even with that list above there are still some missing choices from past games like Sweden, a Polynesian civ, etc. Not to mention some of us want a few more newcomers too.

Unlike Boudica, none of the Trung sisters were actual rulers/queens.

According to their Wikipedia page at least, the Trung sisters did rule as queens for over 3 years (definitely not an insignificant amount of time to be maintaining independence from one of the world's superpowers).

Old is more iconic, but...

I'd expect her to be presented as older too but I wouldn't mind being surprised by a younger Maria Theresa.

Why do we need a "horse raider" Civ when the Mongols already exist? :smug:

My suspicion is that its probably to include a dark horse civ! They also probably wanted some variety with horse raider civs. I just wish that they changed Scythia's city list a bit. According to this topic and this online page Roxanaki would've made more sense as the capital for the Scythians. I wouldn't mind seeing a Parthian civ either though.

Even if I deigned to include the Greeks, I would permaban Alexander the Punchable. :p

I would just hope that they'd make Alexander's model look more respectable and less punchable!

Gandhi the Nuke-happy
Shaka the Doom-stacker
Genghis the Comeback Khan

I can at least understand 3/4s of those choices, I am immensely glad that we can play India as Chandragupta this time.

I'd say the fact that @FXS_Sarah is on vacation this week is GOOD. There is literally nothing she needs to be marketing this week, Schroedinger's Expansion is currently set to "Likely But Not Confirmed".

Not to mention that, even if a dlc does drop soon, I doubt that Firaxis would have her record her lines the week before/shortly before its release. She can get some relaxation time.

Yes, but name them in Parthian rather than Greek and Farsi and there you go. :p

Or they can go with full Greek names if they pick a leader such has Mithridates I ^__^ (since most of Cyrus's cities names are in Farsi anyway)

but this will indeed be best for another game.

On October 31st, 2K announces the coming release of a second expansion for the world-acclaimed videogame Civilization 6. Under the name Evil Empires, this new release promises new challenges and deep moral choices for your leader that will shape the future of your civilization and decide the fate of humanity.

Will you induce in drug trafficking or launch an international vaccination campaign? Will you close your eyes on money laundering or actively promote trade regulations? Will you sell arms or food? Will you support terrorism or actively fund a peacekeeping force? Will you grant your people freedom or tightly control expression? Will you speak for minorities across the globe or wallow in ethnic cleansing?

New leaders: Nero, Vlad the impaler, Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler...

Civ6: Evil Empires
Where will your railroads lead to?

That would be terrific! Two more expansions would definitely be the preferable option... but it would also be a first.

My only hope is that there are scenarios in the next expansion. Past DLC and expansions have always included scenarios until R&F which was lacking in this department.

Admittedly, Civ6 scenarios have not been as good as previous versions. Empires of the Smokey Skies or Conquest of the New World in Civ5 were scenarios which had a lot of replayability.

Heck, I would pay for an expansion which updated and reimagined the scenarios from previous versions of Civ into Civ6).

Too gritty; Civilization has always been lighter than that.

Civ2 had some of the best scenarios, many of which fundamentally changed how you played the game.

*Vanilla had Rise of Rome and WW2.

*XP1 (Conflicts in Civilization) had Alexander the Great, Jihad (AD 600-700), Crusades, Mongol Hordes, Feudal Japan, American Revolution, American Civil War and WW1, as well as a fictional WW3 in 1979, and alien invasion and post-apocalyptic scenarios.

*XP2 (Fantastic Worlds) had Midgard (Tolkien-esque), Mars colonization, Jules Verne (Steampunk), Native America (no Europeans), Atlantis, Dinosaurs (yes, Dinosaurs!), Ice Planet, X-Com, Masters of Orion and Masters of Magic.

We haven’t really seen it’s like since then. There have been scenarios, but none quite as original or ground-breaking.

Wow, I never knew it was so rich in scenarios... or had expansions in the first place.

This is exactly what I am talking about. If the Devs are listening to what fans want, I would pay to have these and other scenarios from previous editions updated for the Civ6 engine and graphics!

I remember playing the Fantastic Worlds expansion back in the '90s (dating myself now) and really getting into some of the creative possibilities.

Surprised anyone want scenarios. In my humble opinion all they are good for is being a ressource for modding.

In Civ6, this is probably true. The development of scenarios does not seem to have kept the same standards as in previous versions. In Civ5, I think I spent more time playing some of the scenarios than I did the core game. Civ2 I also spent quite a lot of time with the Fantasy Worlds expansion (although Master of Orion and Master of Magic both took gaming time away from Civ2 for me).

Don't forget the Best of the Net scenarios in Fantastic Worlds!

Santa Is Coming had Candy Cane missiles, what a great scenario

Yes! I'd love to see some of these updated for civ VI. I remember enjoying the mars, dinosaurs, and alien invasion ones in particular.

It would be an awful lot of work for the artists, though, much more than required with civ II quality graphics.

Firaxis should try the Star Citizen model for DLC, example:
Get this exclusive American leader Lyndon B Johson for 1400 dollars.

Civ 6 is too PC for a bold move like that....

no love for Civ III scenarios? Those were the best! Napoleonic Europe and Feudal Japan were so, so good.
