Alpha testers needed for Steph's mod 2

If you don't have a heart to listen to, do America!
I have, put as the alpha testers will be the first involved, I think they deserve the possibility to express their choice.

So
America : 1.
France: 1.

Other request?

Well theres always Ireland ?..:mischief: ( my late Grams who left the green oasis Halloween at the age of 18, would have wanted me to put that in there....or not. )
Im embarrassed to say apart from Braveheart, Im not sure how interwined these two are pround cultures are.

So Ya, 1 for the Irish  and excuse the sterotype, and France might have some priority to so no biggie if mine dosn't make the cut but please, at least hold the Celts for me! :)

You did noticed that neither Ireland nor Celt are in the list of available civilizations?

Perhaps you meant Britain?

Ya thats what I meant  I recall the Celts being in the last one so just presumed they carried over , shoulda checked that list. Ok Rack one up for the Brits, besides their my other side of the family. ;)

No, I cut the list down to 20, in exchange for more in depth flavour unit lines for every civ.

However, it's likely I'll introduce little novelty that may interest you "forked unit branch"
The idea is to have, for some civilizations, to parallel branch of units that would have similar stats but would give more flavour.

So for Britain, you could be able to build at the same time English swordsman and Gallowglass, or later English infantry or Highlander. They would have almost the same stats, and the player can so decide what he prefers to build (more for sentimental reason or role play reason than anything else).

It will be the case fo English - Irish - Scotish, or for Native American - Colonial America, or Prussia - Austria...
Perhaps some more controversial case like Poland - Russia, or Korea - Mongol - China.

A way to introduce some minor civilization, through their units, without needing a whole new civ.

In case of ties, I'll do them in the chronological request order.

hell thats good idea most only play with 20 or less also less Civs means less writing on a few fronts so that will save some writing but make it deeper at the same time. Very good. .

12. In the city display, the Luxury resource "Spices" looks like the Gems graphic. That's why I thought there were invisible gems on the map.

13. It looks like a substantial number of the luxury resources use the wrong graphic. I believe silks and incense are also wrong.

14. My tax rate keeps getting reset each turn to 5.5.0.

15. Crashed the game:
Missing entry in "Scenarios\..\Scenarios\Steph_History\text\PediaIcons.txt"
ANIMNAME_PRTO_2I__BronzeSword_Ando

16. The technology Irrigation says workers can irrigate. This is false.

17. My cities can go to 7 without aqueducts. Is this correct? The civilopedia for aqueduct says otherwise.

18. Harbors say they provide +1 food in the civilopedia. That is wrong.

19. The productivity improvement when switching to Ancient Republic from Despotism was miraculous. It was like night and day.

20. Mining forests is much better than mining hills. That's odd.

21. The Andeans on the Espionage window have no icon.

22. Why is a Theater rendered obsolete by Dark Ages? They're so close together. It seems like Theaters would be useless too quickly.

23. Empire and Ancient Republic seem virtually identical, with Ancient Republic being vastly superior. I recommend increasing war weariness for Ancient Republic or making it have 0 police.

24. I don't know how, but it seems like workers lost the ability to clear pollution.

25. I captured an Andean settler, supposedly got some captured units, and no units (such as workers) were in the square where I captured the enemy settler.

26. I captured two Andean workers, and they instantly disappeared.

27. File Not Found:
"art\civilopedia\icons\units\CorsairGalleysmall.pcx"

I will answer later in detail, but first did you install the patch I uploaded last week? The civilopedia for buildings should be up-to-date.

The civilopedia for techs is not correct

12. In the city display, the Luxury resource "Spices" looks like the Gems graphic. That's why I thought there were invisible gems on the map.
They may seem similar, but in the editor and in the pediaicons they are different. Are you sure they are the same?

13. It looks like a substantial number of the luxury resources use the wrong graphic. I believe silks and incense are also wrong.
I'll double check in game later.

14. My tax rate keeps getting reset each turn to 5.5.0.
That's something that puzzled me to. What was your government?

15. Crashed the game:
Missing entry in "Scenarios\..\Scenarios\Steph_History\text\PediaIcons.txt"
ANIMNAME_PRTO_2I__BronzeSword_Ando
Corrected in the biq

16. The technology Irrigation says workers can irrigate. This is false.
Pedia for techs has not been updated yet.

17. My cities can go to 7 without aqueducts. Is this correct? The civilopedia for aqueduct says otherwise.
That is correct. Which part of the civilopedia says that?
The Aqueduct entry says
"A city with an [Aqueduct] can grow beyond population 7"

18. Harbors say they provide +1 food in the civilopedia. That is wrong.
Not in the harbor entry in the latest patch

19. The productivity improvement when switching to Ancient Republic from Despotism was miraculous. It was like night and day.
It the latest patch, I reduced the benefits of ancient Republic (they don't have the tile bonus) and have low war weariness.

20. Mining forests is much better than mining hills. That's odd.
The mine itself gives +2 for both hills and forest.

21. The Andeans on the Espionage window have no icon.
I don't know why, the Andeans don't appear correctly in the civpedia...

22. Why is a Theater rendered obsolete by Dark Ages? They're so close together. It seems like Theaters would be useless too quickly.
Because when the Barbarians are at your door, you have more urgent matters to attend to than going to the theater ;)

23. Empire and Ancient Republic seem virtually identical, with Ancient Republic being vastly superior. I recommend increasing war weariness for Ancient Republic or making it have 0 police.
Ancient Republic = low war weariness, Empire = none. Empire have more free units

24. I don't know how, but it seems like workers lost the ability to clear pollution.
That's because you need ecology for that.

25. I captured an Andean settler, supposedly got some captured units, and no units (such as workers) were in the square where I captured the enemy settler.

26. I captured two Andean workers, and they instantly disappeared.
I haven't finished to add the barbarian and captured unit yet. I'll do it with the first civilization I'll update (America).

27. File Not Found:
"art\civilopedia\icons\units\CorsairGalleysmall.pcx"
Normally, I corrected it in the latest patch

They may seem similar, but in the editor and in the pediaicons they are different. Are you sure they are the same?
I'm certain that the graphic that's normally used for gems is showing up in my luxury box in my window.

That's something that puzzled me to. What was your government?
Despotism. I set the tax rate to be 70% taxes, 30% science, and it kept getting reset to 50/50.

That is correct. Which part of the civilopedia says that?
The Aqueduct entry says
"A city with an [Aqueduct] can grow beyond population 7"
The Aqueduct entry.

It the latest patch, I reduced the benefits of ancient Republic (they don't have the tile bonus) and have low war weariness.
Now it makes me wonder what's the benefit of Ancient Republic. Paid Labor vs. Forced Labor I guess.

That's because you need ecology for that.
In the early part of the game, I cleared the pollution caused by a volcano. At least I think I did.

I'm certain that the graphic that's normally used for gems is showing up in my luxury box in my window.
Would you have a saved game? Email it to me at stephane.f.david@free.fr

Despotism. I set the tax rate to be 70% taxes, 30% science, and it kept getting reset to 50/50.
I supposed it's because I've caped the science rate to 50% It seems there is a bug that reset it to 50%

Now it makes me wonder what's the benefit of Ancient Republic. Paid Labor vs. Forced Labor I guess.
That's probably why Rome became an Empire after it was a republic ;).
They are relatively similar in fact, pick what you prefer.
However, I've planned to add government specific buildings to the game, I think the only way to differentiate more the governments. CivIII is relatively poor otherwise. Not enough options I think.

AmericanInfantry.jpg

I have finished to add the American flavour units for:
- Settlers, Workers
- Armies
- Warrior, archer, spearmen
- Musketeer, Riflemen, infantry
- Marines, Paratrooper
- Militia, Guerilla
- Commando, Special Forces
- MG, AT...

They are the flavour armies: Continental Army, and Union Army.
The two other flavour armies are the Delaware Shaman (top left), and the US army (Patton on the top right, courtesy from Wyrmshadow)

Oh my! First Mediveal, then Anno, now Steph 2's on the schedgy to! Did Someone say Golden Age,.. Again!;)
Just now I saw 72 people on the 3 C+C board, thats the most in while. It was around 20 less then what the next up in he series had working for them at the time. :hammer:
Man!, 20 people thats it! Don't you people see how crazy this is!! You think Civ4 will be this hot when Civ5's about to wrap up? (answer is a big "negative" sons :) )

Uh, Sorry for that rude outburst I know it all dosn't mater, just a game and all that....What I mean to say is Well done Steph! Your definatly one to thank here. Flavour armies are a cool idea. I like to have only one or two armys anyway.

If you limit armys say 1 per 50 cites, does that mean the AI are alotted the same amount. If so I would do this so the player can't win on armys alone and also this way the Army becomes that much more unique like the Queen peice on the chess board so to speak. Heck you could even add the King units to the game and there ya go! Civ3 ala chess! (IM ramblin but truly its more real if Patton dosn't have a clone IMO)

Playing as America should be a unique experience. Native units are fast and requires little resources, but are weaker. So you have to fight in a different style, to aboid being invaded bu stronger slower ennemy.
If you manage that, starting with Union troops, you have good units, until you finished with the stronger units from all civ.

Struggle hard in the beginning, easier at the end!

Very pretty. The use of precolonial American natives for the archers and such is an interesting touch.

Yes! and so may I add is using heavy equipment for the workers to operate with :goodjob:

Actually with what your talkin about, I played an identical setup only with Canadians starting with braves using the Balancer Reloaded mod.

Of course Canucks had a little less to look forward to miltarily near the end, but the game was still chalked with flavour so I had a lot of fun with my Mounties and Avero Arrows. :)

Im sayin this mod is following in right footsteps (and will surly exceed anything like it)
