Altering ToT unit-movement animations?

So I'm almost done with my nearly-total-conversion of ToT to something closer to MGE. Got the old graphics and everything. But one thing is really bugging me.

The slooooooooooooooooooooooooowww piece slide.

Now, I know I can check "Fast Piece Slide," but then the unit doesn't slide at all, it just instantly IS in the destination square. I don't exactly dig that either. Has anyone figured out a patch, or a special events.txt code, or ANYthing to speed up the "Slow Piece Slide" just a little bit?

Also, is it possible to have unit battle animations, like in MGE? It bugs me that there's no visual clue that a battle is taking place except for the health bars diminishing.

(Despite all these ToT annoyances, there's no way I'm going back to MGE now that I have all these extra unit slots!)

Being a little picky, are you? ;) I don't know of any "fix".

'fraid not... You could of course add full unit animations to your mod. ;)

Ha haa! That's funny. He's funny! Funny, right?

I won't be doing thAAAt, but I *can* and *will* ensure that every unit capable of attacking has as unique a sound as possible, so you know there's a battle happening and have a clue which unit is attacking which. Which means I always have to leave the sounds on. That I can live with.

Hell, I can even live with the slow piece slide, now that I've realized that the GoTo command appears to work much better in ToT. (Or am I imagining things?)

I think you are... :p Well, they might have made some improvements, but the zero-meridian is definitely still a problem. Over short distances it has always worked quite well though.

Oh yeah, definitely, the darn International Date Line. But I distinctly remember using GoTo over quite short distances back in the pre-MGE days and having it work so seldom that I just gave up.

........ok, fine, I admit it! I miss the simpler days before I ever installed ToT!!
