I hope someone does Germany wins WW1 scenario sometime soon. I prefer WW1 to WW2, I just find WW1 more interesting than WW2. We seem to have alot of Fresh-starts at the moment, and two based on certain time periods. I was digging through google and I found this cool time-line where Germany wins..the war begins two years earlier, but hey, they win none the less.

Ah. Me and my being newness. I really can't make myself search through 10 pages of NESes though, can I?

Link? I doubt Germany would have lasted for four years with a 1912 war...
it has already been done in Das nesses

Huh? Well, NES2 I had a completely different Germany win the "First Great War", but that hardly counts, does it? Or did you mean NES2 III, where WWI was more of a draw (albeit Germany could be considered, along with Russia and Japan who were amongst its enemies, one of the victors)?

(For my Comet TL, I COMPLETELY forgot to mention that there was in 1511 a Spanish expedition to Cape Lusitania [OTL Cape of Good Hope]; by 1540, the Spanish had some degree of contact and trade with the Sultanate of Adal (dominant in the Horn of Africa), Sultanate of Oman, the Baburids and Vijayanagara, plus some minors)

Especially as after the war it went on a land-grabbing spree in Africa using the revolution in France...

Ah, that one. Well, with Britain out of the picture I guess I could see a German victory happen.

Guess-The-PoD. The year is 1932.

The second one is the alliance map, if it attaches correctly. Entante and ETO are preparing to go to war in Europe and elsewhere (note that Argentina and Venezuela are associated powers of ETO). Washington Pact, League of Islam, Socintern and the neutrals are currently sitting on the sidelines, but Socintern is slightly predesposed towards the Entante, Netherlands and Belgium are very pro-Entante, Abyssinia is very pro-ETO, LI is somewhat pro-ETO but has a grudge with Abyssinia and Washington Pact is somewhat pro-ETO as well, though USA itself is sceptical about it.

Finland, Poland and Romania are parts of the Russian Empire, but rather are kingdoms under their own Romanov kings and are basically on the level of OTL British Dominions in the same time period.

Any questions about governments or any such are welcome.

Feel free to use this as a setting.

Good luck!

Germany wins WW1?

Then why doesn't it have Lorraine-Alsace and Posen? The WWI ITTL was quite different and ended in a draw - i.e. Germany was more-or-less holding out, and even launching new offensives on both fronts on the last year of it, but all of its allies dropped out. Thus, a compromise peace with Germany losing alot but gaining peace and Austria and Bohemia from the collapsing Hapsburgs.

What happened to the British Empire?

And what were the causes of WW1?

What happened to the British Empire?

It sorta won WWI, but lost the Great Oceanic War later on, lost all colonies and fell to a left-wing revolution (not strictly communist, though; incidentally, they were led by Eric Arthur Blair, if that name says anything to you).
And what were the causes of WW1?

Some damn foolish thing in the Balkans. An attempted coup in Serbia took place; it was found out that Austria was involved; and a large rebellion in Bosnia came along in roughly the same time. And there it went.

More importantly - French nationalism, colonial tensions, etc, etc. Like in OTL, apart from some specific colonial tensions.

...George Orwell?

What timeframe is the POD?

Quite.

Timeframe... late 19th century.

Just reviving one of the earlier ideas I saw in the thread, this one actually looked pretty interesting, Das:

Das said:
Anyone ever read "Seventh Part of Darkness" (not even sure it was translated from Russian)? It's a really interesting history in which Stolypin, a early 20th Russian minister and reformer, isn't assassinated in 1911, thus leading to a 1936 constitutional monarchy (by the end of the book, switching to fascism) Russian Empire fighting a war against communism in Germany, Austro-Hungary and China, while the Western World watches on, not knowing whom to support. It SHOULD make a good NES.
Focusing on a less (if at all? haven't seen it in the thread so far) used What If: what if the Zimmerman Note had succeeded?

I haven't done much research on the idea, but it appears that a general assigned by Venustiano Carranza (President of Mexico at the time) determined that the ideal was infeasible, namely because of the large anglo population in the states the note promised Mexico (Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona), and because it would not be possible for Germany to supply them with the needed materials to fight the war (this is lifted straight out of Wikipedia's entry).

Let us suppose one of two things happen: one, either Carranza appointed a less astute, perhaps more nationalistic general, and he gets the opposite recommendation - and then British intelligence hands over evidence of the note to the American government, or two, a different faction in the Mexican Revolution somehow came to power that was less friendly toward their northern neighbors (bearing in mind the defeats of the Mexican-American War) and accepts the note, which is again revealed by British intelligence.

How do things change if the USA's main focus is on Mexico? It seems likely Mexico would've very quickly lost, given relative military strengths, but what about the loss of American impact on the European theater?

And what happens if the USA decides not to withdraw from an occupied Mexico?

About the das PoD: very bad, preliminary guess, but I'm leaning towards something checking Pax Britannia and the English colonialism, like Zulus win or Boers win or Sudanese win, or etc. yktd.

About the Mexico thing: A lot of troops were just withdrawing from Mexico in the wake of the Pancho Villa episode, and they were dispersed throughout northern Mexico and the border states at the time of the telegram. A good Mexican general could have taken them on, but it's unlikely, since that was one of the Mexican motives for rejecting the German offer, at least in theory.

About Mexico, I sincerely doubt they ever wanted to accept. The authencity of the Note itself is rather doubtable, but to get Mexico of the moment to invade USA... Well, you will need a VERY different Mexico for that.

No. The PoD had nothing to do with Britain.

It did have something to do with colonialism...

Hmm, Reno, I was thinking about this for some time, did you ever read Empty America (it is set in the Middle Ages, in case you don't mind)? Ofcourse, you will have to ask Doug Hoff for permission to use it, and also there's the problem of Asia being largely as in OTL, but what other (non-fantasy) setting that allows for a situation where Venetian-hired mammoth-riding Vikings attack a Chinese army armed with repeatitive crossbows do you know? :p

As for my setting, well, sure, you could use it if you want, I will gladly help.
